The announcement by the would-be conqueror of the Nexus startles Sehan into full wakefulness, just as the bare, small room he's in turns upside-down and expands, growing a single exit and shiny metal-covered walls.

A human stumbles from the exit - well, not exactly human, a metallic grey human thing with a frozen, expressionless face. It looks mechanical, like some of the city's artifacts. One eye is missing, exposing wires, and sparks sputter from its broken left knee.

"Em/Em/Emergency! A// Per_sonnel t0 F:re S"ations////" it manages to say before it begins spewing strange gibberish. Finally, its mouth falls out - hanging from wires - and its eyes go black. It falls over, silent.

Sehan steps forward cautiously and prods the metal, spark-spewing thing with a steel bar out of one of his coat pockets. It jerks slightly and he jumps back immediately.

Sh'kago observes all this without reacting. Finally, the elemental walks forward and absorbs the dead metal-man into himself, nullifying its electrical effects and growing stronger.

Sehan calms down visibly. He walks toward the exit from which the machine came, and goes through, followed by Sh'kago (who has to 'enlarge' the doorway considerably before he can fit).

OoC: Since no one's posting...

Sehan steps through the doorway into a curving hallway of silvery metal surfaces that feel strange to him. He explores onward, followed by Sh'kago, and eventually reaches a large room filled with smoke and fire. Chaos reigns, and dying metal-men lie scattered about the place, spewing forth their own wires and parts as well as unnecessary repetitive warnings about the plainly obvious fire that engulfs the room.

One mecha remains unaffected. It is hulking and brawny, armed with weapons of all kinds - including a flamethrower, which it uses generously.
"Rebels against Abrix! Your fate has been sealed in flames. Rejoin your GOD or burn forever in the flames of my HELL!" it says, patting the flamethrower to emphasize that last point.

Abrix... from the announcement! Seems pretty powerful, maybe I should join up with this guy... muses Sehan. Just then, Abrix's mecha notices him, and the flamethrower is aimed in a slightly different direction...

As he jumps out of the way, Sehan thinks things over: well, I obviously can't join in now, when one of his minions are trying to kill me. But I guess he kinda should be stopped....

Sh'kago's chest opens, and an avalanche of boulders emerges. Most of the dying machine-people are silenced, put out of their misery, and the boulders smother some of the fires. Most importantly, they roll over the flame-Mecha. After they pass, it emerges mostly unscathed - but its flamethrower is crushed.

I guess I'll have to be a bit more inventive if I want to defeat this thing...

The beast of blades had some inscrutable purpose to its gait; it trotted down the pipe to the intersection and past the dark mirror, not quite at a run but fast enough that Dr. Crates had to jog to keep up. His companion didn’t slow until they were once again out of sight of the intersection, deep in a complex of right-angle turns and old piping, down the shaft the strange tracks had gone.

It was quiet down in the labyrinth of pipes without the odd bard trailing along. The only sound was their footprints crunching along the rusty metal floor, until the beast of blades stopped short.

“What’s wrong?” Crates asked, somewhat at a loss. He heard nothing, and saw no movement in their immediate vicinity barring a slight dusting of rust floating down from the ceiling. Then he froze as a slip of memory resurfaced.

Some creatures not native to these tunnels never bother to look up…

Crates was abruptly made aware of one simple fact: he wasn’t a native of this realm either.

He looked up.

A spiral of pale blue clung coiled in a blocked off section of pipe almost directly above them.

Nearly twice the length of a skirmisher, it was an unholy union of centipede, serpent, and ichthyoid. It had dozens of legs bound with webbing into sets of four, a pair of wavy, ribbon-like antennae that resembled the fins of a fancy goldfish, and a featureless pointed head with no eyes to speak of. Those may have been the tiny black dots that edged its back in twin rows, for the centipede twisted around on the ceiling so the dots faced them, as though to see.

It dropped down from its perch with frightening speed; Crates jumped back while the beast of blades reared up to meet the threat.

The centipede monster coiled around his Avatar and rammed it; the two went tumbling across the floor before the beast of blades gained enough footing to launch itself up the nearby wall. Before Dr. Crates could do more than tug at the broken piece of spear tied to his waist they were on the ceiling, and he was left once again with the role of a pure spectator.

The two combatants struggled, claw to needle-fin; the beast of blades hacking with horn and scalpel-sharp sharp claw while its opponent tried to ring it and constrict. The battle may as well have been in zero-g with sticky boots: both combatants were agile and clung to the walls and ceiling as easily as the floor, leaping from surface to surface to gain whatever tactical advantage they could. Every now and then the centipede monster would exhale a cloud of glittering gas, and Crates’ companion would slow, but the effects were only enough to counteract the latter’s nimble speed, creating a stalemate.

The centipede monster dropped from the ceiling with sudden inspiration; Crates was forced further back and the beast of blades leaped to follow its foe with a pounce. This appeared to be the centipede’s intent, however; it crouched down and whipped its hind section at the metal Avatar, sending the latter flying into a nearby wall with a set of dents and deep scratches from the needle-like legs.

The beast of blades jerked immediately to its feet; its older injury was starting to tell, now. Though the healing light rippled across its form, most of it centered on the broken clasp and not the more immediately dangerous injuries—bent rib sections catching on its limbs and slowing it down. It snapped soundlessly at its foe, seeming distracted. Once, it half-crouched as though to howl—then broke out of the posture to glance at Dr. Crates, and snap at the centipede again.

It was then that Dr. Crates understood; the centipede was between him and his Avatar. He had no way to ward off the supernatural panic the soundless noise would provoke, and would flee his protector without the beast of blades to hold him there—possibly even into deeper trouble than the last time.

AT last his companion charged the centipede, but Crates was too preoccupied to see the scuffle that followed. He was un-knotting the straps he’d used to secure the spear head; he hoped it would be enough. There was a set of holes in the side of the pipe set closely together; he kicked at wall between them, and it held. Working as quickly as he could, he threaded the harness remnants through the holes and wrapped them tightly around his wrists afterwards, securing himself to the wall. Then he twisted his neck around to see his Avatar.

The beast of blades had nearly been engulfed by its opponent’s coils, though it still slashed and fought with every microbe in its being. The centipede was impaled in several places by the knives and sharp edges that covered Crates’ companion, but it was big enough that the trickles of chartreuse ichor didn’t bother it.

Now!” Dr. Crates shouted to his Avatar. “Do it now!

The beast of blades needed no further goading. The last conscious observation he made was of the soundless howl making its way around the chamber before mindless terror drowned him.

He was distantly aware of the centipede trying to whip away from his Avatar’s sudden attack, but most of his attention was taken by the bindings now holding him near the source of his terror. He tugged futilely at the straps he’d tied not moments before, urged on by the sounds of needle-like feet and scalpel claws on old piping. The sounds quickened, driving his terror, then there was a sick sound of metal piercing carapace and he nearly went insane.

And then, gradually, it faded. His hammering heart slowed, and his consciousness reasserted itself. Ruefully he noted that in his panicked state he had half-undone the rough bindings on himself already; he undid the rest with a moment’s work and re-bound the spearhead to his hip.

The centipede’s carcass was twitching along its entire length; the beast of blades’ tail had impaled it through the neck, and a dozen other wounds still bled sluggishly onto the rusty floor.

His Avatar eyed him carefully, as though not entirely sure he wasn’t about to go running headlong away from it. He smiled in what he hoped was a reassuring way; convinced, the beast of blades tugged its tail blades out of the now-still carcass and trotted over to him. The living metal sculpture was a mess; yellowish ichor dribbled down its sides, and it was dented and scratched all over. Its ribs were more battered than ever, hanging in separate slabs; his Avatar wasn’t even trying to hold the pieces together anymore. Even its posture was off: head and tail hung low with exhaustion.

Crates patted the beast carefully on one shoulder in quiet congratulation. The two left the centipede’s corpse behind and made their slow, weary way back to the Depot.

The shops all look the same.  A simple entrance, but once inside it is drastically different from the rest of the arena.  First, all combat or attack abilities of ALL Battle Avatars are negated.  Regardless of how they enter, they are as powerless as kittens inside the shop. There is a rather large oak desk, behind which is a raven haired girl with darkish skin.  She is dressed colorfully (the colors do change btw).

Right behind the desk the shop splits.  One half is forest and a glade, the other half a machine shop.  In the machine shop a big burley guy covered in soot is working on a random machine.  In the other a wize looking male elf is tending to a random creature.

There is a huge board with the battle points and lists of ALL current people in arena.  However, except for somebody called 'bunny' and 'that silver guy' everybody has equal points for some reason.  15600.  Bunny and 'that silver guy' have 5256000..each.  Apparently they have both been here a LONG time, and no longer even visit the shops.

There is a list of prices.

+5% to damage - 3500
-5% damage taken - 3500
+5% elemental strength increase - 4000
-5% elemental weakness decrease - 4000
Complete repair/rest - 1000 ('controller will also be housed for the night).  Includes food.
Magic upgrade - Depends on upgrade (HCM me)
Tech Upgrade - Depends on Upgrade (HCM me)
'Mega' attack penalty reduction (5%) - 10000

The tunnel was long, tight and had an awful stinking smell. "How long is this cursed tunnel?!" - Mordekai was starting to lose his patience, even though Mephisto had the most troubles as he was large and could barely fit in the tunnel.

Finally the tunnel ended and they arrived in a dark forest. It was very creepy but at least it was better than that tunnel.

"Be on your guard, Mephisto, we don't know what kind of creatures lurk here."

After some time searching the forest, Mordekai spotted a very small building. When he opened the door, a portal could be seen inside.

"Well, let's check it out."

They both entered the portal and were teleported in a strange shop, which had the exit as a 'portal-door' like before (which actually would teleport them back to the dark forest)

There is a rather large oak desk, behind which is a raven haired girl with darkish skin.

"Hello Nexus travelers. You must be Mordekai and that's your battle avatar, Mephisto."

"How do you know my name?", Mordekai asked surprised.

"I'm a servant of the Nexus so its knowledge is shared with me as well... and believe me when I say that the Nexus 'knows' everything what's happening around here."

"What is this place? Looks like a shop."

"It is some kind of shop. Here you will be able to have a full rest and upgrade your battle avatar's powers. However, each of these cost battle points, which you are able to see in this board." - she points to the huge board which lists the battle points of all creatures in the arena.

"How do I gain battle points?" asks Mordekai.

"Experience in the Arena, traveler. The more you travel the Arena, the more battle points you will get."

"Well, how can I upgrade Mephisto's powers?"

"That's not in my powers. You'll have to check out on one of my companions. Seeing as your avatar has no mechanical stuff at all, I'd say that the machine shop is useless for you, so you should check the elf in the glade. Anyway, I'll give you the list of possible upgrades for your Archdevil." - she summons a piece of paper with some things written on it, and gives it to Mordekai.

Mordekai examines the list carefully: "For a start I'd like a complete rest to recover our strength."

"That would be 1000 battle points." - the huge board with the battle points is updated, Mordekai and Mephisto having only 14600 now.

"And just wondering - what makes me not killing you and having a rest for free?" asks Mordekai.

"Silly, I'm a servant of the Nexus. In here, your entire powers are disabled, while I still have some Nexus powers. In fact, I could kill you both right now, but of course, the Nexus doesn't allow me to nor do I want or have anything to gain from that."

"All right, now I'm going to check for that elf and try to upgrade some of Mephisto's powers." says Mordekai, and enters the glade part of the shop.

Nevil saw an elf sitting there, tending to a unicorn. "What don you want?" He asked. "I would like to spend my points on his attack power." Nevil said with a wry smile. He understood the nexus, thanks to all his years he spent studying the damn thing.

The counter for nevil was reduced to 1600 points. Nevil was a bit uneasy with the little girl paying no attention whatsoever to the counter. They both left off into another world.

((Having fun trying to figure out how to allocate stat boosts in a freeform game. ))

Dr. Crates was perusing the board, spooning at his soup while his Avatar was being puzzled over by the denizens of the Depot (-1000 points). He had suffered a moment of panic when he discovered they were to be billed for the repairs, but had calmed considerably when he discovered that he did, in fact, have something to pay with, though heaven only knew how.

There were a lot of names on the board, none of which he recognized (not that that was a surprise). An oddity: though the names weren’t all in the same language or even the same alphabet in some cases, the numbers were. He spotted his own name in a small out-of-the-way corner of the board, and puzzled over what strange being would pay him for getting lost in this world—Abrix? Surely not. But who? And why? Entertainment?

After tiring of staring at the Nexus scoreboard, Dr. Crates looked through the list of upgrades. One in particular caught his eye:

'Mega' attack penalty reduction (5%) - 10000

He knew without a second thought what that was. The cost, however, was worrying, as he had little to no idea where his funds were coming from or where he would be getting more. He resolved to wait on it; one chance in twenty of not running in terror was not his idea of good odds. But once he deciphered this strange scoring system, he promised himself, he’d start saving up.

He put in a request for an attack boost ((x2 of the +5% to damage dealt, so -7000 points, for a total of 7600 remaining, correct?)), and then sought his bed.

* * *

In the quiet before sleep took him Dr. Crates reflected absently that he’d been taking this whole adventure far too well. He was used to moving a lot due to the constant fighting back home, and that had probably helped some, but give it another day or so and he would crash into a wreck of shock. He was so far from his own world he couldn’t even recognize the names, he had no idea how he could return, and—most worrying of all—he had no desire to do so.

He was fingering something absently, and looked down to see the little bronze chit he’d gotten from Natsa’s carcass. He couldn’t help but wonder—what was her world like? All those names on the board—where had they come from?

He drifted off to sleep.

That night.  The sound of buzzing can be heard somewhere in the Nexus.  Those asleep dream about it, those awake hear it as if it is off in the distance.  It sounds like..insects.  Visions of metalic monstrosities flash through everybody's heads.  As if right in front of each person something rises.  A mix between a bumblebee and scorpian, all made of metal with that same odd face that the 'walkers' had flashes, and then vanishes.  Everything warps and twists again, only the shops remain unchanged.

This time the nexus resembles a big honeycombed hive.  HE has captured yet another 'node'..HE is gaining power.

The elf was tending to a small dog creature, when Mordekai arrived there: "Hey, I suppose you're the one who can give more powers to my Archdevil using those battle points?"

The elf turned to Mordekai and analyzed him and Mephisto for a few moments, after which he started talking: "Yep. So what upgrades would you like?"

"Straight to the point, huh?" says Mordekai.

"I don't like chatting... we either get down to our 'business' or get out of here."

"Fine." says Mordekai, obviously annoyed a little by the elf's arrogant tone. "Let's see..." - he examines the list for a while - "I would like to improve Mephisto's special abilities. Can you improve his Dark Claw ability to weaken the target more, and the Dark Nova ability to strike in a small area rather than just one target?"

"Yep. For the Dark Claw it would cost only 1750 points, while upgrading the Dark Nova ability to have a 'mass' effect will cost you 7500 battle points."

"Very well. I accept both upgrades, and I'd also like... hmm... to increase Mephisto's damaging potential - as I see from the list it costs 3500 points."

"And all of that would cost you 12750 battle points. So, are you sure about your decision?"

"Yes."

"Very well then." - the elf conjures a special spell for 5 seconds and then unleashes a special magic ball on Mephisto. "There, it is done. Now get out of here, I have other things to do."

Mordekai returned to the dark skinned girl: "Now, where can I and my battle avatar rest, since we 'paid' for that?"

"Follow me." - the girl went to the back of the shop and opened a magical door. "The room inside has a special magic aura that will heal both of you two's wounds in a short period of time. Although Archdevils don't sleep, you may need to, and that's why the room has a comfortable bed as well. The magics also create some food there, every time someone 'pays' for this."

"Wow this is nice. Come Mephisto, it's time to recover our strengths." - the two entered the magical room. Mordekai ate the food provided and then slept for some hours.

After waking up they both were completely recovered and returned to the dark skinned girl once again.

"Well, I guess it's time to go, not much to do with 1850 points, right?" - said Mordekai - "But if I gain more of these points, will I have to return to you?"

"No. You will encounter similar shops in different places of the Nexus. It is pointless to go all the way back here when you'll need to, not to mention it will also be impossible most times."

"Ok, one last question. Can you tell me more about this dark forest there is outside?"

"It is a forest outside? I didn't even know. Although the Nexus could give me that knowledge, I'm not supposed to know, and that portal-door which leads you outside this shop doesn't let me pass either. So I can't tell you anything about the outside world, except that I know it's full of dangers... but you already knew this, didn't you?"

"Well I guess it's time to go then. Goodbye."

"Goodbye traveler, and be wary of the dangers of the Nexus."

Mordekai and Mephisto stepped through the portal-door and teleported back. To their surprise, it wasn't a dark forest anymore, but a big honeycombed hive.

Dr. Crates’ sleep was oddly disturbed that night. A dream began in the harvesters’ caverns that had begun this whole series of events; he was avoiding Abrix’s bipedal mechanoid, diving behind rocks and circling around the thing. He didn’t know why.

A hum, and then a buzz, began to reverberate up through his feet. The sound became so terribly loud the whole cavern began to shake, until the force knocked him off his dream-feet and he went tumbling and bouncing away into a wall of blue.

He fell onto an empty, sunny beach. Then he was falling, except the ground didn’t move, and the mechanoid was there again, firing at him.

The shot hit his dream-self directly, but there was no pain or any other affect to him. The mech, however, began to twist and collapse in on itself. It started to shift into something insect-like, part scorpion and part—something jabbed him in the ribs—

—he woke up.

The beast of blades was gazing at him with its eyeless head, looking as concerned as the metal plates of its face would allow. Seeing him awake, it backed away and watched him curiously.

“Just a dream,” he told it.

And then he heard the buzzing sound, faint with distance but all too real.

Now fully awake, he dashed to the entrance of the Depot, opened the door to the outside world and poked his head out.

Massive walls, their texture wax-like, stretched out in every direction, their surface covered in hexes like massive honeycombs.

Crates’ response was a single, quiet sentence.

“I think we need to get going.”

Before they can fight anymore, the world shifts upside down. Honeycomb-like strucures appear; a giant beehive structure. As Sehan begins to stand back up, an image of a metallic monstrosity - a half scorpion half bumblebee thing - flashes before him quickly. What was that thing?

Sehan senses without knowing how that the power of Abrix has grown.

Abrix must be stopped.

Sehan stands up and comes face to face with a simple wooden door set incongruously into the side of the beehive. Curious, he opens it and steps into a room with a large oak desk, behind which sits a raven haired girl. Behind her, the room splits into a forested glade and a mechanic's warehouse.

"New here? I thought so," comments the girl as Sehan looks around curiously. The grimy mechanic shop looks much more like Sehan's home plane than the forest, with that weird pointy-eared man tending to an orb of gibbering mouths. Sehan begins to walk toward the mechanic's, and the large burly man inside grunts a short "Hi"
before returning to work on a mass of wires that might resemble an animal when seen from a distance. Sehan looks around at all the tools in the shop (which, back at home, would be considered priceless treasures of the pre-apocalyptic era) until the man finishes with the creature, at which point he turns to face Sehan's BA, commenting, "Be hard to reach the mechanical parts behind all that loose soil..."

Sehan's BA is healed and he is well-rested, so they leave the place and continue their adventure.

(OOC: Hope it's ok that I enter the shop before the whole honeycomb thing, been a bit lazy with updating)

The portal flashed and Harus appeared at the next arena, carrying Kenji over his shoulder. The area was quite large, with sand covering almost all the land. Large brown rocks stood out of the ground, as if reaching for the sun that nearly blinded him as he looked around. What was really strange however, was the large house positioned next to one of the rocks. Seeing no other way out, Harus approached it and entered through the door.

A bell rang as he pushed the door open, a young girl with dark skin made a small sound of surprise as Harus entered. The girl was sitting behind a large desk with her feet firmly placed on top of it, holding a magazine in her hands. Behind her were two areas, one with a large man working on some mechanical device, and another with some strange, tall man with pointy ears.

"Customers! What can I do for you?!" The girl said enthusiastically, almost screaming. She dropped the magazine and seated herself upright.

"Umm... yeah sure, what is this place?" Harus replied and dropped Kenji's unconscious body into a chair.

"It's a shop! For you people!"

"We people? And who are we...?"

"Warriors! Battle Avatars! Nexus combatants! Here, read this!" The girl threw some sort of manual at Harus, who caught it in mid-air. The manual was about something called battlepoints which was used to increase abilities. Harus kept reading, this sounded more like a video-game than real life...

"So let me get this straight... I spend these "battle-points" and Kenji here gets new abilities or improved ones?"

"Exactly, you can also use some of it to rent a room here, you look like you need a rest."

"Well you're wrong, is this the battle-points and prices?" He pointed at a large board on the wall behind the girl.

"Yes! Here's you two, you have 15600 to spend on whatever you want!"

"Yeah yeah... Kenji's unconscious so I guess I'll do this though I doubt it's neccessary..."

"Great! He's mechanical right? Then walk into the left area, Garm handles all mechanical stuff." Harus nodded and pulled Kenji with him again, looked like he wouldn't wake up in quite some time.

"Hey... HEY!" Harus pushed the large guy who seemed too concentrated to care. He turned around, covered in soot.

"WHAT?! I'm working on something!" He turned quiet as he spotted Kenji. "Masterpiece!! Let me just..."

"Back off, I haven't told you what to do yet. I'd like a 15% Damage Increase and a 5% Damage Reduction, can you do that?"

"Sure, that'll be... umm... it's 3500 times..."

"It's 14000, get to work." Harus said and dropped Kenji on a table, the big man ignored Harus' rudeness and immediately rushed to work. Harus seated himself in a corner, watching him as he worked. Though he looked like a brute and only seemed to have minor math skills, he really knew what he was doing...

4 hours passed before Garm cried "Finished" and laughed as if he had won a great victory. "Oh wait, there's a flaw, let me just..." As he reached down with his tools, Kenji grabbed his hand and tried to break it.

"Oh, you're awake, and back to normal too... good, let's go." Harus smiled and helped Kenji up, Garm pulled his hand back without effort, seemed as if Kenji was quite powerless in here.

"Who was that guy? I feel different... I might have a memory failure, I remember nothing of the last days..."

"You changed for a while... it seems as if the virus that affected you has been removed, he also improved you a bit, I'm not sure how." They walked past the girl without goodbyes and left the shop. As they closed the door something happened. They both suddenly had a strange vision, something about insects... sounds of buzzing. Large metallic insectoids wearing the same face as the enemies before appeared before them. Everything turned black and changed again, the desert landscape dissapeared and morphed into a huge honeycomb hive, the vision stopped, but the hive and shop remained.

"Hmm... it's some sort of organic fortress, strange." Kenji said as he scanned the area. Everything was calm, perhaps too calm.

A short time later found Dr. Crates and company making their way down a sheet of hive wall. As Stelis and Don Vergard hadn’t seemed to have any method of flight for traversing this now-vertical section of the Nexus, Crates had offered them a lift, and now all three of them clung to makeshift straps and bindings on the beast of blades, while the last made its cautious way down the wax walls, its sharp claws gouging deep into the soft surface.

To ease the boredom inspired by the awkward, but overall unexciting trek, Vergard nominated himself entertainment. The bard, perhaps not unsurprisingly given his profession, was a very good singer. His stories were good, too, at least from the standpoint of the range of inflections and accents used—the actual plots were impossible to discern, as he tended to forget them halfway through, or get confused partway through a tale only to stumble into the plot of a completely different story, the names of characters changing several times in a single telling. Dr. Crates could only listen to the last in sad frustration, as he wondered how much from the bard’s tales was actual past experience and how much was his imagination at work.

The bard had just gotten through three drinking songs and a fragmented tale involving a princess, a warrior from space, and a ball of putty when he suddenly cut off and looked up—“up” in this case being the opposite wall, rendered a ceiling from their angle of travel.

“Look, there’s someone over there…” the old bard said, motioning above them to a tunnel of honeycomb plunging through the hive. In the tunnel, now that they’d been pointed out, Crates thought he saw a few indistinct, but non-buzzing figures on it.

The bard called out, “Hail travelers! Be you friend or foe?”

((Dagoth, that’s your cue if you want it.))

As navura traversed the sand with Novaran he saw an ancient arch surrounding a pulsating energy.

"Why is such an elaborate structure in the middle of this desert? its so well preserved for the massive amount of weathering it must've endured."

"skrhckk......."

"novaran is something wrong"

"no noth..."

"Navura my sound integrator is functional again." spoke an astonished novaran

"well thats good i can finally take these silly headphones off. i also think that the arch is a portal... shall we enter?"

"better than sitting out in the sand. my exoskeleton is getting scratched up..."

The duo enter the portal to find themselves in an area filled with several siltgas and their companions

Novaran is the first one to realize that they entered a peaceful shop-like area.
"Hail fellow seekers have you found any neptodium or are you on your way to the deposit?"

Sehan's first encounter with a fellow traveker of the Nexus ocurred just a few days later. The other man was tall and imposing, dressed in purple and black robes festooned with skulls and skull motifs.

No words were exchanged for a short while, as the two sized each other up, Sehan obviously the less experienced. Then, with the flick of a wrist, another being - a much stranger being - came into view, presumably the other's BA.

Sh'kago immediately rumbled forward to meet this apparent threat, despite Sehan's insistent pleas for peace: "Just think what would happen if we lost!"

At this, the stranger spoke for the first time. "You are wise to think this way. I followed the same philosophy when I was as new to this place as you are now. That is why survived long enough to become powerful enough to become careless - I know no one here can defeat me now." His voice was deep and powerful, but heavily accented - he rolled his R's and sharpened his T's a bit to much.

Boulders rolled from Sh'kago's chest cavity, boulders his opponent did not even attempt to dodge. The other's BA closed his central eye and remained completely unaffected - except when one of its eye-stalks was severed, and it recoiled in pain. Angry, it opened its main eye to launch a blast of searing heat waves at Sh'kago, who was almost completely unaffected.

"Go for the eyestalks!" yelled Sehan. His BA's next move was to grab one of said stalks and pull it off - at which point a section of the strange's creatures central eyelid peeled away.

The creature launched a blast of cold ice at Sh'kago, who was temporarily slowed. Whips of energy buffeted Sh'kago until he regained his normal speed, and tore off some more stalks in rage (the central eye lost some more lid). The enemy BA, with only two stalks left, closed its eyes and became perfectly still, apparently meditating.

Sh'kago, confused but wary, 'bulked up' to improve defense. Meanwhile, waves of scintillating energy collected around the central eye, eventually released in a massive blast aimed directly at Sh'kago. The creature's last two stalks dissolved into energy, leaving the central eye exposed, but it did not matter - the blast would destroy Sh'kago (or at least knock it out).

Before it struck Sehan's BA, the energy disappeared from view, emerging instead from the stone wall behind Sh'kago and smashing into his more vulnerable backside - sending him crashing into the stalk-creature's main eye, utterly destroying it. The eyeless thing roared in pain and dissolved into energy. Sh'kago fell unconscious beside it.

The fellow travelers looked at Navura with strange looks and one of them walked towards him.

"I'm sorry we aren't looking for any neptodium whatever that is. we came to the nexus to become warriors with power beyond imagination."

Novaran-"You are not on of gibord?"

stranger-"of course not i hail from tyfron"

"but why would anyone venture out here if not looking for the sustenance of their world?"

"power. money. fame are all some of the rewards"

Navura let out an audible sigh, before asking "what direction is it to the center of nexus"

The stranger points to a portal at the far end of the area and Navura walks through it.

Seconds later he is surrounded by blocks of energy and glowing runes tracing the various landscapes. There were strange mechanical insects crawling around and some nearby ones attacked. Novaran batted them away with a small puff of steam.

The insects burst into flames and electrical crackling could be heard.

"It appears you have quite some power here Novaran"

"indeed, these beings of electricity are easily defeated"

the duo wander the lush landscape and come across a floating orb of energy. the orb starts crackling and shoots a bolt of lightning at novaran" The shifty novaran burrows and then unearths itself releasing blasts of steam. and as the ball's energy dissipated through the cloud Navura spotted a mech...

((is there even a story?))

"What is this? Why it's not the dark forest?" asks Mordekai confused.

"I believe Abrix is playing with the Nexus once again... or he captured another 'node' and received more power." replies Mephisto.

Mordekai is definitely not pleased to hear that, although what Mephisto said is possibly the only explanation of what happened here.

"Ugh, again problems with insects..." - says Mordekai, obviously not pleased about this at all - "Let's explore the area for now."

They both explored the huge hive they were in for hours, and no sight of anything dangerous yet. Everything changed when they spotted a strange magical floating orb.

"Now, what is this?" asks Mordekai rhetorical, obviously excited.

As soon as they approached the strange orb, metallic sounds could be heard from all over the place. Mephisto attended a battle stance.

((i think since this is freeform we make up our own story))

the cloud fades away and Navura could see a young man surveying the landscape with his siltga.

Navura approaches him

"Hello do you hail from gibord"

"aye i do"

"are you still searching for nep?"

"no, I'm searching for princess nari"

"why"

"for the destruction of gibord, mass murder and as a guardsman i am bound to the last words my captain gave me 'kill her'."

"GIBORD WAS DESTROYED?!?!?!"

"yes, i suppose you should know the full story. she fled from the line of succession into the nexus. while there a traveling seeker found her and brought her back. She shattered the anchor and absorbed its energy. before gibord dissipated she and several soldiers escaped through the portal."

"so how did she break the anchor?"

"her BA unleashed a pulse of energy that decimated the nearly drained anchor"

"That isn't possible, none of the six elements can destroy matter."

The young man replied

"unless it is a combination. specifically Double Dark... i'll upload the information to your siltga"

Nari - Siltga - De'Trav- Dark , Dark

Nari is the former princess of gibord. she ventured into the nexus alone and it is rumored she found the center and learned of the powers possible. her siltga's elements changed and she destroyed gibord. evidently insane.

attacks:

Aether pulse - Does moderate damage in a small area. deals no damage to energy based beings.

Solidify - solidifies the aether around the BA creating a barrier

Kenji finished his scanning and loosened his grip around the sword hilt. The hive remained silent expect for the sound of water dripping from the walls, or at least it looked like water.

"Ok, from the sound of our voices' echoes this place is huge, we better move." They moved deeper into the hive, sometimes the tunnels went downwards, and suddenly straight upwards. The floor was sticky and heavy to walk through.

The tunnel became wider before leading into a large round area with large pillars in the same material as the rest of the place.

"So... where might that portal be...?" Harus asked, Kenji scanned through this area too.

"Master, this place is messing up my scanners, it's too warm."

"Yeah, I can feel it too... it's quite exhausting, maybe we should rest here?" Kenji nodded but stopped halfway, raised his head and looked around.

"What's wrong?"

"It's getting warmer." The walls  began to turn moister, and their colours became dark orange. The ground trembled slightly...
