I chose Hero Editor.
Creature and Faction Editor would be intriguing aswell but too hard to balance I think.

I chose object editor, allows to create "custom" adventure map objects (such as some location that allows barbarians to learn warcries)

I'd want all of them^^
But I would prefer the faction editor and both creature and Hero editor follow on place 2...

Yes,I'd also like a skill and spell editor
And I bolded "spell editor" because was an old but extremly nice idea of Daystar about spell creating here
I also want to have a creature editor,so I'll choose that one

Faction builder is absurd. Each faction anyway conists of creatures, heroes, town, maybe skill or spells. There's no need to 'build' anything, once you are able to mod all the specific parts, it's up to crator to link them with each other. All we need is a place in game files to plug-in new content.
Not to mention faction creation takes ages, unless you want to be flood by "my favourite vampire kingdom"
Map & campaing editor is quite obvious, creature/spell editor as well to chnage properties of ceartain objects and their appearance. Once the game core mechanics are accessible, there's no problem with creation of virtually anything.

That's the sence of the editor - combine your faction from different parts. I think you know how hard it is to code a faction into a strategy game....

Indeed. That's not a matter of editor, but the CODE which should be as open and flexible as possible.
Look at NCF creatures - once you set their appearance and stats, all you need is to put them in Usermods or data folder. The same should work for entire fraction, objects, buildings, spells. But so far even custom creatures are not supported at all :/

But you still need kidn of modding-experiance don't you? (That's an honest question, for I'm not very familiar with NCF...) And I think the point of an editor is that it is a program which allready has implemented things like "putting it into the usermod data" and similar. A good editor is, to my opinio, much better than just an open code. For example, the code of CIv4 is, as I understand it, extremely open, you can change up to anything - but I tried once and it was so much and so complex I just didn't get it. So for a simple customer (like me) an editor, where you just can edit thign sin a rather simple way, is better.

I'm just trying to show that the entire poll question is incorrectly stated. We don't need separate editor or builder as it can be easily added to already existing editors if only the game designers think about such an option. Adding editor for messed engine is like using vaseline for necrophile. Don't go this way.
The 'modding experience' frrom my point of view was dealing with an overhaul of text files which really discourages from any further effort. I still claim that we need editor, but... the best things you can do still involve the [...] button rather than basic editor tools.

Well before WoG, there was a program for Homm3 called Resedit (still available here) which allowed you to extract all the data files as text files (but it was easier in excel).

Why not all of them? It's not that hard to implement them as long as they use a flexible engine.

Option 1 is almost a certainty, it'd be commercial suicide not to have it. Options 2, 3 and 4 would be welcome, either as text files or freeware programs. I have to say no to option 5, it opens too big a can of worms to be reasonable.
My probable basis for modifiable data files would be a game called Space Empires 4 (located here), wherein virtually every data file is in text, and therefore easily customisable.
