I think you'll find yourself headed in the right direction once you stop trying to lump all women into one set of rules. (which are cute btw )
If you continue to let yourself that there's some pattern that we all are instinctively bound to follow - you're going to spend more time in the doghouse than Fido lol
A lot of my male friends have gone through this "women don't want the good guys phase", and most of them came out okay, so I hope you will too.

What you got right here isn't the creative vs cliche part - its that you listened to her! While you heard about the lights and decorations many guys would have heard "blablabla" while in their minds they planned out which movie to take them to and what their odds were of getting lucky afterwards.

Few tips on women,pandy ,correct moi if wrong.
1.the eye contact,whenever struck one never be the first to lower your eyes,they're like K-9 ,sencing fear,and self doubt,its like women repaller. if u stare long enought in there eyes untill they lower there eyes you will win the first fight.
2.dont give too much info,women like what they cant have,and they like a mystre. so answering with a question to a question might give a good leught and a good start.
3.dont spend too much time together...there are 2 reasons,if your intersted you dont want to be her girlfrinde right? there is a tight line between boyfrinde and a girlfrinde...next thing you know she is hooking you up with gay men. the other is it it'll look to pathetic...and like i said,have some dignity.
4.A little envy is good,means you care. you can't care if you dont feel even a little bit envy. but not overdone.just know when to admit it and how.
5. be on a lookout for reothreical questions. ie "Does this makes me look fat"? i found a diplomatic answer,'its all in your head'.
6.at 99% they're telling wrong signals,and flirting sometimes just to win the alpha male,or to see if he notices,for a women if a the desired guy is responding to there flirting is better then sex,even if she only wants hes attention.
7.Women are cannibals,and will kill ther'yre own kin. they say they never fought with a frinde over a guy? lies,if such happends,make sure your out of sight..
8.Confidence Confidence and Confidence. Women hate the weak,is unattractive for them,and you can't be the alpha male this way.. some are drawen to it,but thouse who has some kind of dom complex..
9.Sarcesm is a bliss,and irony is the answer,use jokes to get yourself out of the hook when needed,works everytime.
10.Remmber the names..i've had hard time too...so i find an excuse to check her ID..
but then again im wierd,i've turned down 4 girls on the last 3 weeks just becouse something seemed in vain..

All I can say is if somebody does figure females out..let me know. Still trying to figure them out . And I won't even try to understand the guys..that is a lost cause I think. Heck, I can't even figure myself out fully.

Ah yes, the universal reset mode... We do dread that one, I hope we're still allowed to change our minds frequently and urinate in groups - I hate it when the changes are so drastic we have to assimilate into entirely new beings.

The "answering a question with a question" part sounds pretty ehm... "interesting" though. Sounds like the stuff you'd read in a crossexaminers booklet for dummies. But yeah I honestly doubt that it'd do you any good with a lady.

I encourage everybody that want to know something concerning this subject to read Ovids - Ars amatoria. The guy is right beyond belief and apart from being an highly entertaining read (atleast for me) you'll see just how little has changed in the 2000 years of him writeing the book.
