Level of Detail.

Basically there are multiple levels of detail for a creature. One with less polygons, a smaller texture and possibly less animations for the adv map, and the other in 'high-quality' mode.

And ObjectRecordID is useless afaik, it doesn't do anything. You can just write <Model>, <Texture>, etc.

You were right the problem was animations were pointed into normal instead of LOD. It's working now.

Well, to be honest, LOD anims and models are useless (for me at leasst). You can make arena anim for adventure map and have same result but less truobles with files. As for me, I never use LOD anims for adv-animset.

Yeah but you don't need the attack/death and such animations on the adv map, do you? And you don't zoom in that much to see every bit of detail on the creatures either.

Well in this case the thing was more like my laziness Actually I got really frustrated searching so hero will use Knight's LOD files in advmap and Oblivion hero model when previewed / in combat. I guess I can never "normalize" the package since I have tons of test files & such and can't remember which are not in use but we'll see.

My gear is AMD Athlon x2 64 6000+ 3,2 GHz, 6 GB 800MHz Ram, Asus GeForce GTX 260 896MB @ M2N-E SLI mobo.

Secondary machine is my gf's laptop, Acer Aspire 3104WLMi.

Waste of time and space for Nival to create seperate sets for normals and .lods, really.  They could have saved a few kilobytes and a lot of time by choosing one type and sticking to it... as they did with HoF onwards

Erhm, you've right in the animation part, but i still likes too zoom in and just look at the details..

Auch, that sounds good! Extreme power ;p

My stationary computer is broke! So i only have a Laptop/notebook from Zepto coputers A/S with Vista Home Premium (can't understand why everyone hates vista, and prefer XP?)

Probably because it consumes lot more resources (especially memory) than XP. I use Vista in both machines and am quite happy with it. No major problems so far (except some x86 programs won't install on my 64-bit Vista). There's one thing that I dislike in Vista tho, and it's folder view (how icons and text appear). They seem to have their own will, changing into the most illogical and unusable there is. I have also ShuttleX running Linux Ubuntu, but I rarely use it. It's nice free OS anyways, but not for gaming IMO.

Ok, back to business.
I woke up 5:00 for some inexplicable reason and went to sleep at 1:30, so I slept like 3:30 h which sucks. Got to take a nap at daytime. Btw, I have made tier 6b already. It's quite like 6a but with darker silver skin and red stripes + fire effects. I dunno if I'm happy with it or not... have to check it again later. So the name will be changed too, to something fire based.

sure thing right after I recover from this dizziness (I fell asleep on the sofa) and turn on the main computer (I dont have the game in this laptop). Yey, I slept 2 more hours, and feel much better now (or after I have a cup of coffee).

and finally tier 4b Uni's Gaze (project name "Blueray" )




There's like 0,3 seconds when Gaze has yellow fire, in the beginning of each idle animation. And same thing with shot, there's a yellow "line" that is not in <Textures>.

Problem solved, I'm on fire today!

I was able to remove the fire from above Lizards head, too (problem was StoneSkinRayNoADD.tga.xdb).

As for gaze, I have no idea with idle now, as for shot, try to remove "FlameCenter" in modelinstance.

Hmmm... should I remove entire fire effect?

<3 DarkCrystal it was FlameCenter, I changed it to blue (copied to Gaze folder so original wouldnt change).

Well, I think you should remove this fire behind lizard, it looks silly for me. I guess you picked Lava Dragon attack effect, try with black dragon for example, or wait and I'll do it with your lizard as well.

Dunno, I thing this attack effect works I'm not sure it the whole fire thingy fits this liz... all crop the one behind first...

BTW is Y axel on effects actually "sky-underground" and X "left-right" from behind creature and Z "up-down" vertically from behind creature?

Yeah, that messed me up. So if it's glued to bone, the "grid" will rotate to the direction where the bone is pointing? This helped a lot.

I'm happy to announce that I might make Teaser 2 to YouTube tonight (if I can get tier 6 done after sauna-Spitfire combo). Right now I'm working with creature icons (that I left partially undone earlier since it was the easiest part) which shouldn't take long. Then I link non-LOD models to advmap (they look like Inferno creatures at the adventure map atm.) and last I'll make tier 6. Then I have only tier 7a and b left and all creatures are visually ready with beta stats and abilities! I have also made hero advmap model by recoloring Haven Knight (didn't replace original, don't worry). Since he/she has the face-shield of his/her helmet on, hero is genderless (until entering battle) I'm quite happy I got those reptiles and last Uni's creature done and can soon focus on heroes skills and abilities and their visuals.

After that I'll re-browse town textures and effects to see if I can make the town look bit better. And then is time for text files.

After that this Mod will have its first BETA release say so s-t-a-y t-u-n-e-d

for those who want to know better:
Flexible deadline of beta will be 15.3. I'm not promising anything so don't come crying if it isn't ready, but believe me, I will REALLY try to make that beta by then.

Just an idea:

- change the colour of his hands to "human skin"
- remove the collar

You can try to change the skulls on his boots and the ornaments on his armour.
