Same here - I haven't actually played HoMM in months.
I still like faction creating though - I get to write creatively, which is what I'm good at, and people tell me how awesome it is

Thanks to all participants - I am on holidays from the 13 April so will finally have some time to read them and do some judging. If you would like to be a judge and haven't entered the contest please HCM me your interest and application
also, if you have made a faction, check the index and make sure yours is there because they are all the ones i will mark! (hcm me if it's not there with a link to it please)

...so, all work we've spend on our faction (though it may be not much in comparision to the years before) will be useless???
I'm going to finish mny pitch(/pitches if two factions are allowed) but I have to say I dislike thios idea for this contest, that kind of judgement should have been announced first, imo.

I agree with Lexxan and Jiriki - this does seem like a pointless bit of extra effort. And it seems strange that the people who judge the entries won't actually read them.

First of all, I created this system because there was only going to be one non-participant judge, (who, judging from my correspondence has nary a spare minute in the day). I also wanted to avoid revisiting all the problems that come with participant judging (namely fly-by judging, revenge judging, and bouncing your own score by torching everybody else's). Also, since the system was much simpler, I hoped to draw in other judges besides just ICTC members. It would be the choice between having your compressed ideas viewed by many people, or having the full faction viewed by only a few.
Anyway, Mytical has offered to be an impartial judge, which would solve the problem neatly (thankyou Mytical). I now propose having the ICTC's participant's scores count for two/thirds and Mytical's count for one/third (it would go to half and half if another non-participant judge volunteers). The entire faction will be graded on a fifty point scale (exactly as in previous ICTC's). Your score will be weighted according to the percentage of the factions that you grade (somebody who only grades 2/5 of the factions will have their score count only 2/5 as strongly as somebody who grades all the factions). You can grade based on any system you want, it just has to be a 50 point scale.
Don't post your scores in the threads, it only annoys the rest of HC. Write all your scores on a separate word processor file.
When you're done judging all the factions send the scores via hcm to ICTC4temp
12:01 am May 1st is the final cutoff to send the scores.
After the scores are compiled, everybody's scores will be posted (by myself) and the winner will be announced on May 3rd.

A complete lineup will be worth more points then 1 creature. However..a original/creative complete lineup would be worth a lot more then throwing in creatures from other line ups (say mixing and matching dungeon/Sylvan creatures that already exsist). Not to say that you wouldn't get any points for using already exsisting creatures (that are in ToTE), but more for ones that are not in it (like say Naga  ).

@darkcrystal...as far as i understand, i fear yopu're wrong...myticals judging will only make up 1/3d the rest will still be thrpough this "pitch"-method
