Joker, let me illustrate an analogy to help you understand my anger over this:
Let's say you're playing an RPG, and it's a really fun RPG. You sit down one day and play it one day, and then the game crashes, and somehow, all of your saved games are deleted. All of the items you've gained throughout the game are gone, all the quests you've unlocked were gone, everything is gone. Zero. Nothing.
Granted, it's not like the fact that you're games were deleted means that you never had fun playing. Playing them was still fun, but with everything gone, wouldn't you be pissed off? Even though it's a game and it's not going to impact your job or anything essential like that, you're still going to be upset about it, and that's how I feel here. I feel robbed and cheated, and I am not okay with it.
You mean, you did it for getting a QP? Your work hasn't been deleted, and the red stars are not medals that state "for making a 30 paragraph analysis of early Inferno strategy with regard to map difficulty". I'm probably the guy who posted most stuff about H3 - not here in HC, mind you. I still have the word files. I even worked half a year or so to develop a system for rating the units in H3 and published that as well - because I had fun doing it and because I wanted to share the stuff I did. That's how the internet generally works, isn't it?
So get over it - if your articles are really worth something, people will remember you, like, hey, blizzardboy, you made that great Inferno guide, right?

What are you talking about? I love not having a system to grade people's quality. Quantity is the only thing that should show. I love the People's Heroic Socialist Republic. Only greedy and selfish people care about the archaic QP's. All the newcomers and people that filter into the PHSR will obviously know about that Inferno Guide from 6 months ago.

Since you're too intellectually bankrupt to figure out why the red stars are still relevant, I figured explaining it to you would just lead to a series of other questions, and going on long tangents isn't fun to me. The difference is that even though specific quality threads aren't displayed, a poster can still recognize you as having a history of quality posting. That's very difficult to do otherwise. And regardless of all of that, I enjoyed their aesthetic value, and aesthetics can be neither right nor wrong. Am I allowed to stop talking to you now without you getting on an ego-high over it?

To answer the last question first: no.
Anyway, I'm afraid that I'm intellectually even more bankrupt than you guessed, since I'm not asking a series of other questions but directly go over to point out the alternative. It's the POST that counts, since you got a QP for it, so the consequential thing to do is to mark the quality POSTS for easy reference. The interested viewer will of course note the name of the poster and recognize and acknowledhe him as the author of this great Inferno Guide.
Otherwise, if you made 3000 posts and got 3 QPs for them, those 3 QPs don't say everything about the 2997 not quality rated - they might be... well, unimportant. Moreover, if someone got their points in the VW or other not game related forums they might be considered - wrongly - as an authority in something they are not.
In other words, if you get 5 quality points for brillant essays about MP play in H5, it means you "have a history of quality posting" IN THAT DEPARTMENT; you may know squat about something else.
Nor do any number of QPs say anything about the future quality of posts: a band may publish any numer of great albums and still their next one may suck.
Which is the general flaw of this: being good in something doesn't equal being good in everything; if you are one hell of a guitar player and get QPs for it from the world it doesn't mean you are an authority on economics as well.
Which would be the logical step then, if you'd really like to go on with QPs: different color codes for different forums or at least for different sub-forums.

Sad but true ...
I can not find the threads that I want fast, since I have to read most of the titles in every page. In the past, I was just skimming for those red stars and they would directly tell me if the thread I was looking for was in front of me. Patience is a virtue I guess ...
