HOMM 2 Strategy n Info
Hello All !
I played HOMM 2 in 2001 but as soon as i have HOMM 3 I left HOMM 2. Now I've been starting to play HOMM2 again, it's very fun and interesting. Then I want you all to share your experience, tactic and strategy of playing HOMM 2.
Start with my experience:
Troll and war troll can regenerate its health after shooting, thus when its melee, move or skip the troll won't regenerate its health.

Never fight Ghosts with Peasants.
Never fight Necro with Peasants.
Never fight Liches with Peasants
Never fight Shooters with Peasants
Never fight with Peasants alltogether!

Casting Slow on Flyers will disable their ability to cross the battlefiled in one turn.
When liches shoot, they can damage their own allies (including undead)
Elemental Storms spell = Armageddon spell, but does only 50% of Armageddon's damage.
Warlocks and Sorceresses start with an extra skill level in their second skill. (Basic Wisdom + Advanced Scouting/Navigation)

Crusaders deal double damage against Undeads.
Cyclopses can attack allies too.
Vamps can drain life from other Undeads.
The AI ALWAYS attacks shooters.
Barbarians rule in small maps.
Knights suck.
Warlocks rule on rich maps.

We only have five stack slot, if i split the shooter how many stack it should be? 2 or 3
About warlock, its too overpowered
Early game
Centaur; its a ranged cr. and the best lv 1
Gargoil; flyer and very fast
Griffin; flyer and always retaliate
Middle game
Minos; strong and fast
Hydra; strong, Hi HP and attack all surrounder
End game
Dragon; Best cr. of the game

It depends. 4 stacks of 1 elf + Phoenix + damaging spell combo rocks.

Warlock is not best early game - barbarian is. Warlock has 0/0 att/def. Middle game the best is Necro (vamps and skeletons) and overall best is Necro with its cheep and very strong Dragons. Warlocks are best only on very rich maps... may be : )

Necro can raise an insane number of Skeletons, true. I remember of good ol' Corlagon.

Ah yes,lord Corlagon in Archibald's campaign...I defeated all the others with skeletons only,but I remember there were zounds of peasants around(every necromancer's dream ) so that you could get the skeletons easier...I had a lot of fun in that scenario.

In a way, it was like the mission in H3 when you had to defend Fair Feather: gather an uber army fast and crush the enemy dudes.

But necro army is expensive, Vampire lord price is 650, lich is 750 and power lich is 900 compared to paladin that only 600 and crussader 1000
|

But skeleton price is the best in the game, also when you buy some power liches - you actually buy a lot of skeletons too - for no added price. Think critically.
I find the knight hero to be the second best in the game, also the upg. archer is a nice unit. In a medium map with a few powerful, but not numerous guards and a lot of wood and crystals - the knight would have the edge i guess.
On a big map, or if there are low lvl numerous guards - necro wins, no matter the opponent - tested : )

What do you mean?
And also centaur is better than skeleton with lower price!

I mean you get free skeletons with every battle, every Lich and Vapmire nets you free skeletons because they win you the battles easy.

OK I agree that necro is strong.
It's very difficult to beat necro with knight, even in small map. Knight is the weakest class in HoMM2. and still the strongest is warlock, even I can beat them with wizard or necro in large map and barbarian in small map

Warlock is the best on poor maps because the Dungeon building which generates 500 gold per day (I knowed that,but Darmo reminded me,thanks)
Trolls heal themselvess
Try to not fight Necros while leading the Knight,ok maybe when you have Crusaders in your army
AI attacks the shooters first,so if it has shooters in his army,don't start surrounding the low level shooters like the Orc
