Emperor is seen at the first time aswell.

This depends a bit on which incarnation of the movie you're watching .

During the filming of Revenge of the Sith, they also redid the scene of Empire Strikes Back where Darth Vader contacts the Emperor. The whole dialogue of that scene has been changed too, to better connect to Revenge of the Sith.

The original image was of a different actor. Ian McDiarmid only portrayed the Emperor for the first time in Return of the Jedi.

I have tickets for tomorrow evening. Can't wait to see it, reviews are turning up very positive .

Interestingly, the look of the Emperor was made by superposing a monkey's face (I think it was a baboon) onto a face of some woman, who provided lip movement. Palpatine at first had a voice of Clive Revill.

Speaking of my first screening of "The Force Awakens," it will be on Saturday at 14:30. Thankfully, one of TV stations is making a rerun of the first season of "Rebels" and is airing the sixth season of "The Clone Wars," which was previously available only on Netflix (which still needs tobe introduced to Poland,) so I can't complain about lack of 'Star Wars'-related content.

Not looking forward to another 30 years of annoying Star Wars fandom, but I might give this one a shot. Seems to be what the original trilogy should've been (as in having action good enough to back up its shortcomings).

this post is confusing. are you 20 or not? if so, how could "30 more years of annoying star wars fandom" even apply to you?

as for shortcomings of the original trilogy, feel free to enlighten me. i may be outta my league here(as i like the movies, but don't worship them), but some clarification might be needed at this point. the original trilogy is great, imo. the remakes and prequels were asinine, though.

They were good movies. Nothing more. Shortcomings would be the rather poor dialogue and acting with some notable exceptions (have you listened to what Vader actually say and how he moves most of the time? It's not great, however aesthetics and awesome voice made up for that one). The action was also rather bad with, again, exceptions. Specifically Hoth and Endor.

This one and hopefully the next ones appear to fix the problems I had with them hence While I might give them a shot despite kinda despising the Originals if mostly for the overblown  and (IMO) overrated presence of them in our culture.

Still, they're good movies. Just not deserving of the insane amount of praise they get. (Frankly, I prefer the prequels though that's because I'm more a person who likes individual movie moments rather than entire films. The highest highs of them were way higher than any high in the originals. Worse as a whole though. Much worse.)

Funny, recently I discussed the prequels with some colleagues and I commented that one of my biggest problems with them is their forgettability. Apart from the duel with Darth Maul from Episode I and "Pawaaaa!!! Unlimited pawaaaaa!!!" from Episode III, usually I can't remember a single scene if asked to. What comes to mind instead is some actors trying to do stuff as a background to some multi-terabyte CGI orgy, nothing specific. Wonder what you found in it.

This is one of the greatest scenes I just loved it

But CGI kill the immersion of the world for me. I don't really believe they are in future or space or whatever. Same with Hobbit. I don't believe it is actually happening. Maybe I am too old but that is just how it goes for me. For me the episodes 1-3 are not that much different than from watching cartoons. Plus the characters sucked except the Emperor.

Well, the performances of the Emperor, Anakin and Obi-wan was one highlight. Those three were amazing in general, especially in Ep3. There was also the Darth maul battle, the Yoda vs Dooku fight and the pod-racing. Incredible moments in their own right.

But as a whole? They're pretty crap (except 3 which is a genuinely good movie mostly thanks to the above Obi/Anakin/emperor bits). I just find that the scenes that do work really work and can make the movies, if not good, at least enjoyable. And the music is pure bliss. The random background stuff, poor directing and over-reliance on CGI (which I don't in principal but this was going too far) ruined much of the rest. Note that I'm not mentioning dialogue or acting. They're bad, but not terribly more so than the originals, hoever they at least had something to carry those moments (Vader has some damn impressive presence even if he moves rather stilted and the sets look very unique and believable).

Droidekkas are a huge plus too.

Star Trek: Beyond

And don't forget the new Independence Day movie: Resurgence

And for those of you who like movies with a thin storyline and tons of special effects, you might want to check out Gods of Egypt (which is definately on my wish list ). So, Horus vs Set. Guy playing Horus is also the one who plays Jaime Lannister in GoT. And guess what? He loses a body part in this movie too. Mutated Sean Bean-virus?

Said wishlist:

- Star Wars VII
- Star Trek Beyond
- X-Men Apocalypse
- Gods of Egypt
- Captain America: Civil War
- Independence Day 2
- Bridge of Spies
- Run all Night
- and so forth

I foresee a grand expansion of my DVD collection. This is going to be epic.

This is the scene who made me fall in love for ever with SW. It depicts so incredibly well our real life struggles, incertitudes and sacrifices. For me is a great movie scene.

Indeed, the music is one of SW biggest strengths. So many remarkable themes, used in remarkable scenes too

If there's one thing I hate from the original trilogy, is the CGI additions made by Lucas on the remastered editions. They just look soooo bad and out of place

There were some improvements like the new droids, the cool lightsaber battles, the race etc and I certainly liked the characters. But they really should have used Qui Gon and Darth Maul more. I also wish there was more ambiguity regarding count Dooku, some backstory so that his betrayal would carry some weight.

But they were too politically convoluted and showing darth Vader's beginnings as an arrogant brat didn't help. We needed someone more imposing for the role. As for Yoda's bouncy lightsaber action, that was kind of lulzworthy. I've read about his lightsaber form and I like the idea but still, I call bs.

Eh, you grow up with the "the world rests on your shoulders. you are the chosen one and will bring balance to the force stuff" without getting a bit bratty. Beautiful deconstruction of the whole "chosen one" trope that truly shines in Ep 3 but sadly doesn't come up much before that.

Count Dooku had an elegant dueling style, focused on finesse and a minimum of effort. It fit him perfectly, being the old man that he was

But Yoda jumping around.. Felt like they wanted to wake up the viewers after a tiresome overblown story. Surprise factor but not enough suspension of disbelief. If there was a prequel that showed Yoda in his youth fighting like that it would be totally awesome. As a wise old man, it felt closer to wtf is this.

Disagree. Yoda always struck me as the old wise master who could throw down at a moments notice if needed. He is literally obfuscating stupidity in his introduction in the originals too so I don't find it out of character at all.

Besides, if you're that tiny you gonna need some agility.
