Besides I don't think you quite understood. Firstly the Chaos finalist will be most possibly weaker than the other play off players. Secondly he faces tougher opponents in comparison. Thirdly he plays exactly as many games as the other four semifinalists. And if he has less points than they his advance is over.
Surely your fears have subsided by now, be a good sport. Besides you didn't seem to mind when you first heard of it and was planning to join Chaos Cup. As for the so called spirit of the rules yes that is probably true for your arena. That is not the case here.

Imo, it's obviously a mishap that some small cup(probably max 12 players), pushes it's winner directly to final, when you wrote clearly it is a back door for quarter finals in rules.
And it is not about Arena spirit, it is about play-off, that term has a certain meaning, which is not different from arena to champions league or duels.
Certainly I don't mind having an extra opponent, but in quarters, as it is said, not in final. It would be somewhat reasonable and logic, if it would be something like a losers bracket, and the losers from quarters along with 4 winners from Choas Cup fight, for until there remain only 2, which are joined by the two losers from semifinals, and so on.
And I didn't jump on Choas Cup, I just said I'll think about it.

So you didn't and thought afterwards that it is unfair Anyway as I said if he has less points than the two semifinalists he's out so he doesn't exactly get a free meal. I could make a small modification and just give him the rights to challenge the second semifinalist if it makes you feel better.. And play offs are just a word, if you want I could give it another

There are two things that bother me :
1. He doesn't go somewhere into quarters, how it is supposed to be, but goes further than that.
2. It is going to be an apples to oranges chart:
Assuming Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, Van Dame, Arnold are semifinalists and DrDoolittle comes from Chaos Cup, and the match-ups are:
Chuck Norris wins Bruce Lee 2-1
Van Dame wins Arnold 2-1
Now the Choas guy comes into play, in some sort of small final, if I understand correctly.
Chuck Norris losses DrDoolittle 1-2
Van Dame wins DrDoolittle 2-1
You reach some crazy comparison between Chuck's wins over Bruce Lee against DrDoolittle vs Van Dame.
PS: Anyone up for a duel or arena to stop my chatty mood ?

1. Necro vs Orcs
Clays morale was just awful. That gave me the time to gain control over the battle. Vampires did their job very nice. My Orson was very simple with Attack, Defense,Dark,Sorcery and Enlightenment. Orcs without defense died nicely. Really one of the worst morale i have ever seen.
2. Haven vs Sylvan
Interesting one. Clay played that one very good. ATB was in his favour and he used it nicely. Blocked my palies that with morale in almost every turn didn't deliver proper dmg. I struggled with his archers and druids. In the end a deadly shot on my archangels and teleport on his side and lack of it on my side gave him victory after very good game.
3. Sylvan vs Inferno
This time the ATB was in my favour. Got very good ini arts + dwarven shield and went for aura of swiftness + retribution + light. Clay couldn't do much in this one. It was a deadly first strike from the elves with quite a lot of lucky strikes for only 2.
I have no replays. First two weren't played until the end and the third was onesided. Thanks Clay for very nice games.

Of course it is a only 8 spots Chaos Cup, but can be extended to as many as there is , as long as there will come out 4 winners.

The idea is that the losers from quarters meet the winners from Chaos, than the losers from semifinals are the ones to enter, and finally the loser from Main Branch final goes to Chaos.
And the winner of the Chaos(secondary branch) meets the winner of the Main branch finally , but with a handicap of 1 or 2 games(depending on how many games in final) since he was already defeated once during his road.
This way if someone from Chaos Cup wins, there is no doubt about his victory cause he reedemed himself by the longer road and the handicap.

With both Albolabris and Michi both at 15 points and having to play each other it's going to be a really heated match for the 4th quarterfinal place Natalka, Pera and LordMichal have secured their place in the top 4.
Top 4 in group 2 are:
Towerlord, Elvin, Mohikanin and Blizzardboy seem to be the other group's top 4. Anyways one last day, let's see what happens
Pairs in Quarterfinals which are rather confirmed:
Natalka vs Blizzardboy
Pera vs Mohikanin
LordMichal vs Elvin
What remains to see is who faces Tower, tough cookie that one. Though he is scared snowless from the arrival of the chaos winner that plans to kick him out - he may lose his focus that way
Speaking of Chaos Cup the confirmed players are Jinxer, Elias, Primus, Clayman, Lepas and Storm Giant. Will give it a couple more days for others who want to join.
Something else, the games in play offs will not be decided in the best of 3. The first to get 3 victories passes to next round. In finals number of required victories increases to 4.

Can't speak now about them, just to clarify that we couldn't play the third one->the mentor bug appeared after I leveled up, we tried to load the game three times and for an unknow reason the system kicked out unknow

You are running in circles alright, repeating the same story all over again. Same number of games for both and now I even increased number of duels to make it less a matter of chance. If you still allow him to gain more points than you then you don't deserve to call yourself a finalist.
