I'm afraid not, officially at least. NWC began work on one but never had the resources to finish it for obvious reasons.

Not sure - I didn't want to rule out the possibility, but I doubt there is one. Still, Equilibris will supposedly get a major, major update by 2011 and may contain an RMG. Or not.

is there such thing as map converter?
for example maps from HoMM-2 to HoMM-3 or stuff?
some element will never have its equivalent on other iteration, but roughly map translation would do.

Like many who have posted here, There is no official RMG for H4. The closest that comes to one is the H4Util by Slava from the WoG team. If you want it, go over to CH and look in the H4 tools section and you'll find it. Also, get H4 Runner, also by Slava, that makes using the H4Util a little easier. There is a thread somewhere here in the H4 section that provides simple instructions on how to use it if you get confused.

Is this the same thing? Is it the latest version? Has anyone here tried it?

There is no official RMG for H4, but since the H4Util is the only generator around, it's what you use. It takes a little getting used to using it. It requires a little information on your part to make a map.
I find that once I make a map with it, I have to go back into the map and clean it up a bit. You don't have to. I mean, you can play a map right away with it, but I like a more aesthetic looking map than what the RMG produces. If you don't have it and you play a lot of H4, you should get it and put it to work. And hey, it's free and the only H4 RMG around.
If I had to rate it I would give it a 4 out of 5. Thanks for giving us one, Slava, wherever you are and whatever you're doing these days!

Hi,
Any news on this ? I took a look at the link, Vlaad posted and dl the H4 Map Utilities v3.4 and so far I have not been able to "crack" the German "code" hehe by using Google Translation. But as far as I can see one must open the MS DOS promt and from there type in the command to start creating a map. Said map would then be placed in my maps folder where I have H4 ( WoW ) installed .........
I have NO idea if this is even remotely correct so a little help would be appreciated

I can't create L and XL maps (-wr3 and -wr4), only small and medium ones (-wr1 and -wr3). Does anybody else have this problem?

I released several XL maps using the H4 Util. I have'nt tried it on Win 7 yet though. In fact, that's the only sized maps I make with that tool.

Random or "image" maps? I can do the latter, but I get error when I try the former this way:

1. Make a folder on your desktop and extract there the files.
2. Go to Start Menu, Run and type CMD, after that, type cd desktop. Enter. Then type cd h4util, then enter again.
3. TO generate maps, use the following commands:
H4util –wr2
will generate a Medium Random Map.
H4util –wr3
will generate a Large Random Map.
H4util –wr4
will generate an Extra-Large Random Map.
So...
cd desktop/h4util/h4util -wr4
You need to bring up the CMD in the Start Windows button located in Accessories.
I found out that when you bring up the rmg, go to the Scripts tab and make sure they're all checked before generating. I got all sizes to come up using Win 7. Of course, you could always remove the scripts the rmg generates.

Hello, people. I've used H4util to generate maps before, but now it doesn't work.
Here's what I've typed in the command line before.
H4util -wr2
h4util -wv1 xxxx.h4c
For some reason, the H4util crashed this time. I got a "Debug Assertion Failed" popup, followed by this popup:
************* Exception Tracer *************
### Reason: "_Campaign::Load fault"
