Best Map?
Prometheus brought up a really good point in the other thread. Why don't we discuss maps positively?
So to try and start a trend, tell us your favorite map and why? And please have some respect for other people's tastes. So Mo, Mad, and UK, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. Please?
Personally, I could give a flying **** about what map I play as long as I'm playing someone fun.

hmm lol
Best map I like Love Thy Neighbor.
Alot to do & alot of time to do things.
When your opponent comes you will be able to see him/her a mile away.
Taking a boat to the utopia & 7th lv dwelling is cool.
Too bad I only played it once & my opponent quit on me because I was winning.

Hmm, hard to say...
There are several opinions in my head about best TOH map choice:
1) well-balanced random, cos it's always pretty new for both and if well-balanced need full concentration and estimate for recognize win tactics.
2) Heartlands - cos it's absolutly equal and... ) Just joking )
3) Battle For Honor - cos, it was my first played TOH map, and it's still pretty fun with much different ways to evolute and even poor fortress has nice chance.
3*) showdown3 - cos in last season it bring me 3 division war wins! )
4) i don't know, cos probably i still didn't play on the best map

Well, I guess you got your 5 replies!
My favourites (out of my admittedly limited games)
1. Battle for Honour: First map I played, I like the open quality and lack of superheroes. Lots of scout wars can happen to give me the chance to actually win some battles
2. Boomerang: Even though a bit unbalanced, still had some fun games here. Open, and I almost had a win on it
3. Randoms: Unless playing a random master! Exploration, not really knowing where anything is.

Great thread
My fav map gotta be Boomerang, but that is just because I have had all my closest games on that map. It needs an overhall though.
Another very good map is Invader (Yup Jinxer, u sorely deserve to be mentioned here, coz u have really tried to take the best from closed and open maps in ur bfp series and insanity which I also like, but with Invader u really succeded in making a map with alot off different strats).
BfH is also one off my ole time favourites, I still have fun when playing that one.

Dont know who invented these stupid closed maps but I cant say anything nice about this person In age of wonders closed maps still not invented and I hope there will not ops topic was about good map Random XL with underground is the best map , 7 lakes is good, but I cant understand why there so many strange stuf and strong monsters not savage, the last battle is good map but sometimes can be little dull.Beltway and fire war campaign are very good. Btw any open well designed map with many ways to gain victory is fun to play.

Good Maps
I must agree that Battle for honor, outter limits, and Boomerang are all great maps, but the thing that I don't really like about outter limits is how rich the map is, I mean by week2 Im pulling in 9thousand dollars a day and there is not that much of a challenge also the map is almost to strong for necro, There are imp caches and Dork(dwarf) houses everywhere. But still it is indeed a fun map. But I still have to think that Last Battle is the best map out there. It is a Large map so you have many things to do and many different stratagies can be used. The only problem with this map is Fly, Town Portal and D-Door can really kill ya.

yep outher limits is rich and there is missing a earth magic scholar too. but plaing it is just fun
i have no fun playing boomerang . i cant understand how a map can be fun that is absolutely unbalanced.
if you love last battle you should try the 2nd part.
it is called "danger zone" and has some great new ideas. and is fun to play
But beware of the evil halon

Beltway...just because it was a heroes2 map means nothing...The Beatles aren't new and they are way better than NSync.
Invader....great job Jinxer.
I would say 7 lakes but it has some balance issues...they need to be addressed before I give it a perfect rating...it probably is a good map except when I play it it's always against Maxym, Frank, Vex, HiddenDragon,Wiggy, etc who are so much better than me it makes it seem like I need to "fix the map" =)
Hourglass1 was a really good map because you could rush the guy before he took his utopia. I don't mind a utopia on a map as long as you can stop the guy from taking it =P
One thing I don't get is a couple of people saying "lol...thats a heroes 2 map...hehe".
How is that important? Maps are not food...age does not ruin them.
Heroes 2 had some great maps that got carried over. I think it is the people who didn't play H2 online think that they are ad a disadvantage because of that. Well they aren't. A map is a map. PLay it once you know it.
In H4 we will surely convert Hourglass, Desert War, etc. I hope we don't have people saying "lol...those are heroes3 maps..hehe".
A good map is a good map.
And by the way..Islands and caves is a good map...it just needed some editing.

I agree that this map is very cool. One of the coolest I ever played.
However, last night I have witnessed that Necro is undefeatable on this map.
So, dont go "all random" if you will play Outer Limits

1.) A good Random
2.) Danger Zone
3.) Battle Royale
4.) Seven Lakes
I am pretty sure, some maps will be converted, but I understand peps, who dont like converted maps. Dont like the most popoluar H3 maps myself, so if they will be converted, why should I start to like them?

why? the trading posts are between the opps so scout wars for it, and there is a gold mine and stuff like warrior tombs too, and a lake with gold and survivors, means you will meet soon with smaller armys and usually good fights.
if enemy is stronger and you both go for the stuff on the same side you really gotta think about a plan.
also possible to break through middle.
not relic poisoned, just a good map

i really enjoyed this map if there was a few ballancing issues made it would be better but really is a fun map
also gotta mention battle for glory(even tho the maker was a fool and didn't make the 2nd player a human player) is a good change of pace for players
just another map
great map for those who like havin lvl 7 dwellings but apparently its at a rampart is at a disadvantage since the editor forgot about dragon cliffs (this is the map i will play flammi on in the finals)

I like Insanity.. interesting scout wars for the gold mines, nice goodies in the middle for the player who gets there faster... and garrisons that refuse to fight
Good Map!
Other maps I like: BfH, Fighting for Turf, Warring Kingdoms and the balanced version of Boomerang.

fav map
My all favourite maps are:
The Dragon Pass (Heroes I), the original an the best. Watching at the start as your enemies think they are bold enough to take on a the dragons, Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Pirate Utopia (Heroes II), feels like an epic movie. Especially as the nercromancer with ghost on your side. Soon you very power with over 10,000 skels and 700 ghosts. "Nothing in the World can stop me now!" you cry out followed by an evil laugh
The Hero (Heroes III), gives the game an edge to it. One hero to rule and your last if you fail. You cannot runaway, you must stand and fight to survive.

Thnx for those who said they liked the maps i did, and thnx for those who didnt like them, but gave them a shot
I noticed peeps said Boomerang needed some fixes, well long ago I did make a fix for it, but it got lost on its way to being posted, and I lost my harddrive around the same time, then it got forgotten, but anyways, i usually try and update maps, but mostly if they are played often and it comes to my attention.
but hopefully h4 comes out real soon so we can start discussing h4 maps
oh and finally, the point of the thread..best map..ack, well I dunno, Id prolly have to catagorize it according to style. For open, I always liked Last Battle, reason is cause i had some great games on it. for closed I liked Showdown 3, same reason, especially all the nations games I had on it vs Antal I just base this on the amount of close games whether win or lose Ive had on them.
