Maybe we should consider changing the maximum post limit outside VW?

The maximum of 20 posts pr. day outside VW does once in a while pop up and it is a bit lame in my opinion. If it is possible, I suggest to change it to 30 or 40 or something like that. At least I believe I still have something to contribute with after I see it, also I suspect that it counts VW posts in on it as well, which it shouldn't as they are VW posts after all.

You may have something to contribute, yes, but others may not and they'll just exploit that and spam the **** out of the place.

First of all, what will said. For 99% of HC members 20 posts is enough. There was a time not too long ago when the limit included VW posts and still for most people it was enough (and still some people whined about every several months or so).

Second, the limit is there to encourage you to post valuable and interesting posts, so if it is a problem I'd advise against posting things like:

Quote:
It says one must be over 18 to watch.

Welcome back.

Nice to see you again!

No, I think stealing is the wrong term to use. I'd say he just copied it. After all you were (and are) still able to do it, if you want. Which would not be the case if it had been stealing, as I believe stealing imply you can't do it yourself anymore.

the only time i ever found the post limit to be a problem was when i wanted to spam in the vw and when the 20 post limit counted there.

I agree that we should change the maximum post count. Maybe it should be changed to 10, or maybe even 5 posts per day. That would go a long way toward both reducing all the spam and reducing the arguments in OSM.

It would make people consider if they really have something to say, or if they are just posting out of boredom.

Anyone who thinks that 20 posts per day is not enough should consider more closely the difference between a forum  and a chat room. If they still think it's not enough, then maybe they are in the wrong place.

As a devoted, yet nooby, veco copy cat I could never with intention claim those.

I do only post if I believe it's worth posting, either for fun or for learning purposes, honestly I think most people do so. Eventhough it is substandard to your qualities, it should not limit the rest of us, in my opinion. After all there's no 'true purpose' of the boards outside the heroes discussion part of this board, however you make it sound like there is.

Okay, can I then have the limit changed on my user account?

@Geny - It depends on the day, today not much is happening and I am about to go to bed, so I see no reason I could not post that.
Beside, only 1 of your quotes aren't a serious post, and that one is in the volcanic wasteland as far as I know.

The rest were actually serious posts, that you did not see them like that, should not make you the judge of it as well.

20 posts is less than one post an hour. Yet, an hour is a lot more than what it takes for something to be a serious and good post. Even if the 20 posts limit is enough most of the times, it's very sad when it isn't. Sometimes you end up in a discussion where both (or more) users are online at the same time. Those times it's very discouraging when you suddenly can't participate any more.

A suggestion is to award QP's for long time good behaviour. Not only would it be fair to the ones with good posts, but aren't QP-hunting. It would also encourage good behaviour, not single good posts(I hope you understand the difference). It would mean that the person, not the post is awarded. I know it sounds unfair to some, but then apply a limit, only two (for example) QP's can be awarded this way (which would be enough).

Another is to just remove/change the limit for single users(which would be roughly the same as above).

None of the posts I quoted were in the VW. There's also a difference between a serious post and a post worth reading.

And, shares, every once in a while QPs are given out for overall contribution.

edit, oh, this isn't VW

We don't have uncontrolable spammers these days so we might as well scrap the whole QP system or at least scrap the post limit since it already stopped serving it's purpouse (untill a new HoMM game appears?)

I think one of them used to be, but I might have been mistaken, anyway I edited that post.

Yes, however I only used the first, never the second part. After all the second part is rather discriminating, don't you think? We can't expect super great serious content in every post, but when someone believe they've something serious to add, it is rather unfortunate they aren't allowed to by a seemingly random put barrier. After all, why it should be number 20, not 19, 22, or 28 is very random, and I know of cases where I have wanted to reply to people and could not because of this limit, a serious reply.

Edit: I see I used the second part, change reading to writing, it is a mistake I often make.

Edit#2: Or no I didn't? I am probably too tired so I'll go to bed.

very good point Death

and the answer is the Geny taste defines the line of worth or not reading as long the other Mods agree with Geny... which is most of the time anyway.....

and...

OhforfSake i understand your point of view because i have been in those situtaions in the past..... but the simple cure for that is get more QP's.... or you will have to focus only on those replys that you really think are the most worth reading and that is still also unfair because you can't show us the full potential in its random prime time...  I think that what you post shapes and changes Hc and it also shapes and changes you in RL sooo when will go down this way and start to think about the members or HC that could be better when in most critical time they didn't had the post limit....

Can't we? I remember that when I still had the limit which applied everywhere I used to check my profile from time to time to see how many posts I have left. When I saw that it's not much I often caught myself thinking something along the lines of "Actually that was said before with another wording so there's no point wasting a post on it." or "It's not that important at the moment, maybe I should let the discussion continue a bit before I enter." or "naah, that's not funny, that's just plain lame, I'm not wasting my post limit on that.". So the post limit encourage people to write posts that contribute something good to the community (that's what I meant by "posts worth reading") and I think it's a lesson all the newcomers should learn before they go on posting sprees.
