@alcibiades I also wanted the Pegasus to return, and I like your idea of making the Sprite Elite (they have many possibilities, e.g. spellcasting as seen in H5) However my biggest disappointment is not seeing the Faerie Dragon in H5 HE HAS TO RETURN the Phoenix would also be nice, but that makes 2 Champion candidates so I guess it'll be a Neutral...again Kind of Off-topic, but does anyone know what the building order in a town will be like regarding units of the same level? e.g. will Elite dwellings be independenr of each other?

My Sylvan Lineup (even though I like the idea of the Sprite being Elite, I make it Core, just because if I didn't, my other units wouldn't fit...I also remove the Druid completely, not that I don't like them, just need more space for the creatures I prefer ) :

CORE:
Sprite < Dryad (Flyer/Caster)
Elf < Grand Elf (shooter)
Waspwort < Carnivora or Savage Dionea (No melee penalty Shooter, but more melee concentrated, with cool specials, I loved the concept of an intelligent carnivorous plant )

ELITE:
Pegasus < Silver Pegasus (Flyer)
Unicorn < Pristine Unicorn (Walker)
Treant < Ancient or Savage Treant (Walker)

CHAMPION:
Faerie Dragon < Symbiosus or Magic Dragon (Caster/Flyer)

If anyone wants me to include specials etc. just say so. And oh, how I wish alternate upgrades would return...IMO it'd also be interesting if there were 2 Champion units in each town, but only one could be chosen, it'd not only make the game more interesting, but also save more awesome creatures from being totally thrown out of H6.

Way to go with such a crusade-like perspective. Just because some werewolves might be evil, wouldnt it be a fresh perspective to bring forth their good side as ferocious defenders of nature/territories of the elves for a change?

To canonically correct the lack of werewolves in H5 Sylvan lineup, you could say that they left the faction to focus on more important tasks or just restricted their employment to certain types of Sylvan towns.

Also you could always fight them in possible battles if you hate them so..

No reason NOT to have them in. Seriously I have missed werewolves sinse M&m 6, HOMM 3 with the WoG mod and Kings Bounty.

EDIT: Im to lazy to check if I posted a lineup proposal here, still I could always refresh some ideas

Core:
Nymph > Dryad (flyer/caster)
Wisp  > Arcane Wisp (flyer)
Hunter Elf > Sharpshooter (shooter)

Elite:
Shapeshifter Druid > Werewolf (walker)
Faerie Dragon> Dream Dragon (a weaker kind of dragon these two but can cast spells=) (flyer/caster)
Unicorn > Silver Unicorn (golden Unicorns are younglings, they turn silver with age and or wisdom) (walker)

Champion:
Dendroid > Ancient Dendroid (yeah, I wnat the old trees back with the same kinda look as in HOMM3 but with an updated model) (walker)

Seeing as how they are making the phoenix blue who draws their power from the moon.  A werewolf, who also gains power from the full moon, would fit well with the new nature town.  Not all lore labels the werewolf as a evil, savage and uncontrollable beast.  Take a look at World of Darkness lore, their werewolves are able to control their forms and seem to be attuned with nature and spirits.

I agree that the wendigo would not fit well, since it is essentially a evil, cannibalistic spirit.  Maybe have a bigfoot/sasquatch as someone suggested.  It would be something new and refreshing to see in the game.

I also wouldn't mind to see Black Holes take on the classic unicorns or pegasus.

The werewolves (Worgen) in WoW are also associated with the moon, the elves and druidism.

I think a Shapeshifter creature would be interesting. The forms would be a very fast, mobile one and a tank one and a damage one.

Every one wants Lycans here.
I dont think a mammal like a gnoll fits in H3 fortress.
If The phoenix is a Neutral again I will be Sad.
But:
As Alci said lycans are EVIL.
The phoenix is linked to the moon.
My solution:
The Savannah!
Core:
Gnoll> Gnoll Marauder (Balanced meele)
Waspwort> Carnivae (Shooter)
Bear> Dire Bear (Tank)
Elite:
Lycan> Werewolf (speedy killer)
Bigfoot> Sasquatch (tank)
Witch doctor> Wendigo (caster)
Champion:
Moon bird> Phoenix (Flyer)

Well, there already is a Shapeshifter creature; the Fate Weaver can switch forms between a human and a quasi-beast one.

The shape change of the fate weaver could really be used to other creatures, the potentional of having a werewolf creature seems promising.

WoW is a bad mix of the best fantasy elements IMO.

Oh and I rather see Werewolves as part of a NEUTRAL town. Nature is neutral, cruel but fair.

Just a wild example. If you get sick and survive you deserve to live on aka you got a better immune system, if you die by illness you contribute to the rest of the nature with your deceased body bringing nutritions to the earth and creatures.

When it copmes to Werewolves/Lycanthropes. Well one type is pure rage and bloodlust without a second thought and no chance to control yourself. Completely natural and fair.
Mix those traits with a self aware evilness. Well then WW/LT could be seen as evil.
But since so many spiritual, symbiotes with nature and life force, druidism, etc. Were people can control their inner natural urges and be able to change form at will.
I see them as well,.. natural neutral or good in most cases, live in natures peace and survive as best without bothering interfering with the outside world to much but at the same time respect others different views of life itself.

Werewolves are evil?

I haven't heard that concept in about ten years.  Most of modern pop culture considers them to be misunderstood at worst, and downright noble in most cases.

I bet Twilight fans would love to see werewolves in the Sylvan line-up, for exactly that reason.

Yes, and why don't we make a Vegetarian Vampire join their ranks also? And maybe a Celebate Sucubus in Haven?

Sorry, but it's just a no-go for me, it might be stereotype, but isn't Heroes pretty stereotypical in most of its faction line-ups? Sylvan for me has always been representing harmony with nature and a preservation of Life, and that is just about the direct opposite of what Werewolves represent. Even if there might be the occasional good* outsider among them, I simply don't see them belonging with Sylvan.

Notice, however, that I'm not against a Druid that can change into animal shape, just don't call him Were*whatever*. I would go for this line-up:

Core:
Faun > Satyr
Hunter > Ranger
Druid > Skinwalker

Elite:
Nymph > Dryad
Pegasus > Moonstrider
Unicorn > Pristine Unicorn

Champion:
Treant > Ancient Treant

I don't have anything against the Fairy Dragon, but it seems Dragons like Angels and Devils have been promoted to bosses and no longer constitute level 7s, so I suppose Fairy Dragon would be a boss associated with Sylvan.

* and hunky, according to True Blood.

funny you mentioned that...

Nightterror you should watch True Blood
It's wonderful because it's so raw, Includes blood and sex as well as proper vampires and other (more secret) creatures.

On-topic however, I seriously don't want werewolves in heroes. Only as a neutral unit in that case as I can't really see how a faction can have them as an army otherwise.
On the other hand they can always make some other kind of Wolf-men unit, a new one with a twist

And yes I want Fairy Dragons!

The werewolves can be normal humans but like the Fate Spinner they may have two forms, that will be more interesting. And I also want Faerie Dragons! And also Crystal, Rust and mostly Azure...

But anyway, not all werewolves in True Blood are good, they are freaking sexy, but they aren't all good.

Still I like the series, but the werewolf concept is all wrong but enjoyable

I agree, I mean they're fine in the series, but I like the more classic concept of them better. You know, humans during the day and only werewolves during a full moon, all that good jazz.
And that is why I don't want them in heroes, because it would be hard to fill that "classic concept" in that case.

I'm not too keen on the whole Boss concept myself. It's a bit like neutrals in general - perfectly good units, that end up being without importance and hardly ever used because they can't be recruited in-town.

If Dungeon's in, it's 100% mandatory that they get the Black Dragon, so I'm hoping they aren't in the base game as it's confirmed to not have dragons in towns, correct?

Having the Warlock town without Black Dragons just won't be the same; I hope they don't take the Blackie away, at least.

I guess time will show. I meen, Inferno doesn't have the Devil now, which might indicate previous levels 7's got promoted. Haven has some sort of lesser Angel which is in fact not quite an Angel, which again supports that real Angel might have been promoted. Necropolis doesn't have Bone Dragon which might support this, or might just be because they thought it was time to shuffle the cards a bit. If Sylvan pops up as 4th faction and they have promoted Treant to Champion as suggested here, I guess it might be a good indicator that there's going to be some sort of neutral "level 8" (aka. "boss") scheme going on.

Maybe, But I'd hardly call the background stereotypical, I mean what other fantasy has the bad-guys being aliens (Kreegans)?

Now I'll post a storyline I made up for another forum:
Humans are feudal, ruled over by despotic kings, with the church made up of semi-psychotic monks with magical powers (working magic ruins the mind). One said monk, less psychotic than the rest eventually rebels and runs away to raise an army and overthrow all this and put some decent people in power. Of course the first likely creatures he comes across are orcs, quiet tribal creatures that just want to be left alone. Of course, while the lone wizard is less psychotic than his companions, he's hardly the most stable mind himself, and so his attempts to raise an army are not well liked by the orcs, but unfortunately they can't really rebel against his magic, and so are forced to become his unwilling slaves.

There, you go, evil humans (or at least evil leaders), psychotic wizards and sympathetic orcs. You could include xenophobic elves getting disturbed both by humans felling the forests, and by the orc army. If you want to go whole-hog, include some gold-obsessed capitalist dwarves who won't stop digging, and eventually disturb an ancient horror who just wanted to be left alone, which starts tearing the dwarves to pieces, but some humans/elves eventually end up being killed as well (collateral damage is a bugger).

Quote:

Faerie I'll go for, they're new, and maybe Crystal, but Rust and Azure dragons are just slight tweaks of the Green and Blacks, and If I'm going to have more dragons, I want something unique, like a Chinese-style Thunder Dragon, and a dragon that can do ranged damage (by shooting spines out of its tail maybe). I also want to see dragons at levels below 7+, after all, lion may be huge, but they're still related to house-cats.

Hmm, but there must be a way of having dragons in your army, or at least something similar. Its part of the awesomeness of fantasy armies.

Maybe with wyverns or drakes. I mean, they could be "lesser dragons", as a wyvern does not have frontal arms and a drake could be smaller and without wings, like the dwarven dragon. And that should be only for one faction, at least at the release, as people would probably go berserk with 2 champions as dragon-like creatures. Or they could make map dwellings for such almost-dragons.

edit: yes, exactly like Mat said about lions and cats
