I think we're being played, fellas.

Or did no one else notice that Elvin and Cepheus had a ten-post back-and-forth brawl in the discussion thread just now, both arguing about points that, as insiders, we have at least some reason to believe they know the answers to?

I could be wrong.  But it looked to me a lot like satire.

Aw and I was getting excited that people were getting fired up again about making guesses. I did notice that Elvin said, and I

Even though they are insiders, and for sure know more than us about the game in general, I doubt they know all of the factions.

Random question: Can someone tell me exactly why Black Dragons and Titans hate each other?

It was like this in the previous world. Starting with Heroes 5 I think the statement is no longer valid.

I suppose it has something to do with them being the 2 strongest units in h2.
and I think the titan had the ability "hates dragons". the black dragon gained the ability "hates titans" only in H3

it seems, in all heroes, except H5, titans were supposed to be black dragons killers. in H4 they have rune of chaos, which means black dragons deal only half damage to them. but only in H3 do black dragons hate titans. green, gold and red dragons don't have the ability.

I think Academy will be in an expansion because there are no DESERT and no SNOW terrain in Heroes VI. Academys castle was in those terrains in every Heroes game. (H2- Rock desert, H3 Snow, H4-H5 Rock/ Sand Desert)

So my guess are for the remaining factions - Sylvan and Faceless or Naga. OR the Faceless will be a champion Unit of the Nagas or Dugneon if they are the 4th one.

The developers said if I remember well, that they not so much liked the way they did the dark elf factions in Heroes V it was too sexy and too like of a race kind.

What if the jungle is for elves?
Naga will most likely be Turkish based so grass autumn might fit. Dungeon will be for bosses like the Faceless.

Jungle seems ill suited for elves, especially considering sylvan fauna being bears, unicorns and other "foresty" animals and mythical beasts.

Jungles tend to feature more things (from a fantasy perspective) like:
Lizards, serpents, giant insects, panthers and maybe even dinosaurs.

Based on the  artwork we've seen the Naga seem oriental, more japanese then turkish, in fact I haven't seen any artwork which suggests anything turkish.
Academy comes the closest to Turkish style wise in Ashan.

The only thing we know about the faceless is that they serve the Dragon of Darkness, we don't know if the Faceless them selves are directly involved with Dungeon, all they did was make a pact with the elves.
Whilst likely, the Faceless running dungeon is not a requirement for them to appear.
Maybe the faceless are running our mystery jungle faction.

I think elves could easily fit in summer or autumn plains after all plains can be covered in woodland and forests. Makes more sense than jungle to me.

Well up until 5 neither had Orcs, but then they got dumped until the second expansion in 5. No-one is safe, especially when you consider the fact that that one spot is going to one of either two H1 factions (Sorceress or Warlock) or a H2 faction (Wizard). One way or another, we're going to lose an iconic faction from Vanilla.

Well, Haven is safe.  (And Necropolis, and Inferno...)

I'm sort of done speculating, though.  I'm just curious to know.  I want to see the town screens, I want to know how the whole thing is going to look, and I want to know what our line-up is going to be for the two unrevealed factions...

I'm hoping they will at least give us some more info on the creatures of the factions they have revealed to tide us over to the next big wave of info.
Ye know, just drip-feed us like a creature or some spells or something like that every week, tide us over.

^I wonder why they're not doing that. It's one thing to keep the remaining factions for later to save hype, but why not the lineups of revealed factions? We've already seen almost all Necropolis creatures on battle pics, they'd just have to post their names and artwork.

Actually they revealed only half the creatures (4 out of 7).

Actually they revealed only half the creatures (4 out of 7).

Skeleton, Ghost, Ghoul, Vampire, Lich.
5 out of 7 for necropolis.
And artwork suggests the Sphinx and Avatar of Asha as 6 and 7.

Demon and Hellhound for Inferno.
2 out of 7.

Pikeman, Griffin and Crossbowman for Haven.
3 out of 7.
Same piece of artwork shows cavalry so those are likely to be back also.
As well as a glowing light spirit woman thing but that might just be a spell effect, in fact seems more likely.

To be exact.

I think its safe to say that angels will be champion in Heaven.
Why would there be 2 statues at the entrance of the castle and 1 on the top otherwise?
Considering that's true, then sphinx could be necro champion unit because there are 2 sphinx statues at necro town as well.

Of course the whole "argument" was indeed planned satire, an irresponsible laugh and a joke on our part, and apparently flimsy at that judging from the pathetic reaction (the first poster seeing right through it). I don't brawl, it's barbaric.

We'll have to try harder next time But some of our posts in this thread might well be very true, who knows. May they water your speculation

However, it's no joke to say that I'd still bet my house on Wizards returning.

HE LIES, HE LIES! DO NOT BELIEVE HIM, HE'S OUT TO TRICK US ALL!
THE BOARD V.I.P.S ARE EVIL!

On a more serious note: he did not mention if they will return "sooner, rather then later" so to speak.
It could be a feint, tricking us into believing he is referring to the vanilla release of HoMMVI when the expansion will feature Wizards/Tower/Academy!

Or... he could be telling the truth.
Just don't take this as a confirmation people, even though he probably would like to tell us if he knew (or knows) he's not allowed cus of the NDA.

And now back to our scheduled broadcast: Crazed conspiracy theories!

Aha, water, a hint at the Nagas!
Just kidding.

I personally don't care which factions they put in vanilla as long as I get 10 factions in the end (8 from H5 + Nagas and Free Cities/Sylath faction)

But, for the topic's sake, I voted Academy. The reason for it is because I wanted the plot to go to a direction where we would have a brother vs brother conflict (Anton vs Kiril) AND a sister vs sister conflict (Anastasya vs the 4th Wizard female child).

However, in the light of all your posts, I changed my mind. Stronghold and Fortress are both plausible candidates for the 4th faction, along with favorites Sylvan and Dungeon (both which I firmly believe will need to wait till the expansion). If we look at the terrains, there is no snow to fit the Dwarves (although they might use underground, but it's a stretch). Using the system of elimination, with jungle belonging to the mysterious 5th faction (aka Nagas), we are left with the autumn plains. And what terrain did Orcs use in H5? Oh, look - autumn plains (or steppes if you prefer)

I don't think they are going to balance factions around good vs evil, since in Ashan's universe, only Demons are truly evil, others - arguably. Malassa, although embodiment of shadow, is still the daughter of the Dragon of Order. Barbarians are no longer evil like in the "old days". Even Necromancers have reasonable beliefs, morally ambiguous to say the least, but not evil. Rest are purely good. Nagas are said to be peaceful and intelligent. Some would call them lorekeepers and there's you magic faction.
