Coffee

Does caffeine affect the absorption of nutrients? If so, what nutrients does it affect? I love coffee. So to actually have a one hour gap between taking a multivitamin capsule and coffee sucks. One of my favourites is the espresso. Thick and rich black coffee, with no sugar or cream. I try to limit my intake to no more than 2 cups of coffee a day, and occasionally I go without coffee at all. I also like Vietnamese coffee.

How Does It Affect Vitamin Absorption?
One of the main side-effects of consuming too much caffeine is a frequent urination. This can cause the body to become quite easily and quickly depleted of some of the nutrient essential for maintaining good health. Minerals that can become depleted very easily include calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphate and potassium.

Coffee will, slightly, increase the speed of your bowel movements (especially it'll bind fluid) so it will actually reduce the nutrient absorbation (as well as vitamins), but caffeine is rather weak so you don't really have to think about it. What you could take into consideration though is the fact that it uses up water in the body (like salt water, or alcohol). So drinking coffee will make you MORE thirsty. The nutrition uptake is affected very little though. Unless you have a very weak stomach (faster bowel movements causes moistier and looser poo) or some illness you can just ignore this.
You should also take this with some salt, I'm not really that good at this stuff, but this is what i think it does(apart from the nerveous effects(that'll make you less tired etc)).

Coffee is awesome no matter what way you have it. Black, white, 0-(insert number here) sugars, Latte, cappachino, espresso.
