I think it's impossible that sylvan would NOT be in at all, if they add new factions in expansion, so I go with the foresty elves...anything else would also be a disapointment for me^^ not taht I even like the elves too much, but they are just part of the game. Like haven, for me. You see, haven on itself is nothing spectacular I think, mostly it has been a more or less average, introducary, boring faction...but one could hardly believe HoMM without it.
So I went for Sylvan.
In the 2nd expansion I expect dungeon...

If you think they won't give us Sylvan or Dungeon, then what was even the point of even drawing it on the world map. Of course, it means Academy should come in too...

Voting 'new', though I don't consider the Forge to be a totally new faction.
Btw. Does anybody else also think that Sandor will at some point of heroes 6 or 7 turn into Sandro? (It's one of the reasons why I think that the Forge will make it to the game)

No, because they are two different characters, although their names are very similar and they also come from different universes.

No, I think they're gonna keep him as an orc hero. Too bad though, Sandro was cool.

Forge is never going to happen. Unless there's a significant demand from fans, which I think is unrealistic to say the least. Maybe even not then, because that would totally turn the game into a joke, unless they changed it enough so that sci-fi snow didn't see so ridiculous in a medieval fantasy world.

Oh, ok, thanks for clarifying this, Gnoll_Mage. Well, too bad Sandor won't be turning into Sandro, would've been fun seeing him travel back and forth between universes and turning from barbarian to warlock and then to necromancer.

I put my bet this way: (in case we are having 2 factions per 2 expansions)
1) SYLVAN - possibility of seing Nature faction is 200%! i am absolutely sure we are going to see them in expansion!
2) DUNGEON - where are Elves, there should be Dark Elves.. Lorewise fits perfect! The creation of Dark Elves. What an amazing expansion THAT could be!!!
3) ACADEMY - if we don't see Academy that would be very Weird! They mantion them way too many times to just ignore their presence. Academy Should be there, and there is no excuse to ignore that fact!
4) FORTRESS - i guess this would be the Dwarfs. Why? well i think it can be interesting lorewise, to play Dungeon going to Underground the home of Dwarfs. As a faction if Dwarfs are reduced in quantity and more creatures are added, for example from Norse mythology. And finally gameplay-wise playing with runes is quite interesting and different. So yes - Dwarfs!!!

And for 6th race, i guess Academy is the name, Titan and Mage is homm must-have creature

I'd love to see Fortress in one of the expansions. Dwarves deserve a second chance with a less boring faction.
And a faceless dungeon would be nice too.
But I guess that the 6th faction will be Academy and the 7th one Sylvan.

I imagine that the first expansion will be academy and maybe a new faction. While in the second I think there will be Sylvan and Dungeon.

Academy is bound to be included at some point. There have been too many references to specific Academy creatures (Titans, Gargoyles, Golems) in creature descriptions for them not to make an appearance. I have strong suspicions that Academy will be the first expansion, so that they can expand the story of Sveltana, and the split of the Necromancers from the Silver Cities.
I think the second expansion (there has to be one at this point) will feature elves, in both their incarnations - high elves and dark elves - as a vehicle of telling the story of the elven split. The trouble with having elves in an expansion is that they're fairly far removed from the existing factions; in order to make them work, you'd have to center the expansion around the elves and their transition from one faction into two.
I think that's probably all we'll see, though. Unless there's another faction or two out there that I'm not thinking of, I have difficulty coming up with anything that would make sense in the continuity of the game.
What would be nice is if the game were a bit easier to modify, so that if players wanted to code their own factions they could add them into the line-up (rather than having to simply modify existing factions). As I understand it, that was next to impossible with H5.

No there has not. But seeing that Heroes has systematically gotten expansionpacks ever since Heroes 2 onwards, it's likely that there's gonna be some if this sells well.

In CH, status of MMH6 has expansions as 'planned'. Dunno where they got that from, but if it's valid it's a kind of a confirmation.

It indeed hinges on the scource of the info. However given CH's reputation, in my eyes certainly, of being very late with, and haveing rather dubious news at times, I'm not putting much faith in it without knowing the scource.

Well if HOMM VI follows the trend as of late with games recently, I'm guessing it will have four factions initially, with one added with each expansion.
A key factor in determining the innovations in this game was their attention to the fan base, so it would make sense that they would keep Academy, as it is a staple with us fanatics.
I surely hope there's more in the initial game than just Necropolis, Inferno, and Haven.
