Another one... I was fighting an opponent also I don't have expert earth magic skill, when I opened my spell book I have "Mass Slow"? Then casted it, ODD but good!

The most ridiculous fight I was ever in was on some downloaded map over 2 years ago playing 1.1. I was on an XL map playing the Castle. There were 7 other computer players and 2 (both Infernos and underground) were allied with each other. The map said impossible and it was on 200%.
Anyway, I was mopping up everyone above ground when--during month 4 or so-- the Inferno popped up through the subterranean gate. It was Ayden. His stats weren't important. The fact that he had a legion of arch-devils was.
I cast visions from a fair distance and the sob has 4,912 of the buggers. I was about to call it quits when I noticed that he had no spell points. I figured that it was now or never, gathered my pure Castle army, and attacked. My largest stack was about 90 ArchAngels. But I had Loynis, with Expert Fire Magic, Blind, and over 750 spell points.
Needless to say, the battle was tedious. I blinded the Devils immediately and destroyed the rest of his army. Then I cast Mass Prayer, Bless, and Slow. I had about a 24 spell power, so the only thing that was drawing spell points was my blind. I won the fight without the devils ever getting a chance to move. It was after that fight that I was convinced that the AI for HOMM III was terrible.

I'm not so clear why you feel that the fight shows that the HOMM4 AI is terrible. I'm not an expert player, and I didn't see the battle ... but to me your story shows that a magic hero can take on battles that a might hero would have no chance with. What should the AI have done differently? Split the Devil stack?
If it *had* split the ADs into two stacks, you would just have blinded the second stack in the second turn - resurrected whatever it killed, and carried on, fifty spell-points less. Yesno? Humans get caught in blind-traps too.
Anyway - did you find out why the hero had such a large force? Mapmaker bug, Legion bug, or deliberate? Many people said that the only sensible way past the Legion bug was exploiting the Sacrifice bug :-)

What if it was Ghost Dragons that got legion-bugged? :-)
The legion bug back in the old days was super nasty indeed. It caused many L/XL maps unwinnable.

It must have been a legion bug, as I tried the same map as the one of the Infero players. I've never heard of the bug before. No Dragonsister, I didn't bother to check the map editor. It didn't even occur to me to look. I just assumed that it was a timed event that only the computer could activate.
As for its tactics, think about it. 750 spell points and a 2000 point implosion would not have even dented the ArchDevils. If Ayden had divided that stack equally, he would have had about 700 Arches per stack. That
's what he obviously should have done; never mind the possibility of loading up 3-4 heroes with just the Arches.
I saved the game before I attacked him (I knew if I screwed up it would be curtains). Any other tactic resulted in my Angels getting annihilated by the Devils, followed soon by the rest of my army.

AI plainly SUCKS
Agreed here gootch --> The AI is extremely stupid. And that is just one of the examples, there are many many others. Let's hope they did a better job with the AI in Heroes IV, but I'm skeptic  .

The AI in H3 is not always stupid. They will usually cast some of the high level spells smartly. Unless your army outnumbered the AI's, Sacrifice is a nasty spell in the hand of the AI.

I experienced similar a case with Gootch, I was playing a map against the necropolis and within month two, when I attacked his castle, his hero got swarm of Ghost Dragons and legions of other troops. I was overwhelmed, just looking @ thousands of Vampire Lords!
I checked it in the map editor closely that there's no way for the necropolis would have that enormous amount of troops in two months. It's probably another engine bug.

well my best fight was in my clan finals game it was my 30
vampire lords vrs 50-60 Chaos Hydras wk 1 day 7 i had
antimate but no spell points so i lived off my 3 sheilds 
I won without loseing a thnig wosnt socking but took
atleast 10 mins my stats where all from 10-12

well well some weird incedents here!!! and i preatty much agree the AI sucks but sometime it can get very Hard!
i dont have any exampels now....... but maby later!

Here's another glitch I remember from that fight. I had Expert Fire w/blind, but the Arch-Devils were still retaliating. But they were collectively doing only 1 point of damage every time they did.

I played last night was a great game. Within 2 weeks I vanished 4 teams! Then after that I had a hard time killing the others!

Well, not bragging but those overlands only for the first 2 weeks after that. The underworld rocked the house, I had a hard time with inferno!
