Kappas have sinkheads in mythology too, so it's fine.
...they forgot the beak, though, and the turtle shell isn't very apparent, too. I like the sideburns. Make it look so much more hilarious.

I am being completely serious when I say I find the Kappa the coolest core creature in the game, by far, considering it shares that tier with Succubi, that's saying something.
The Kappa is a very alien and foreign creature to western civilization, it might be a bit of a shocker but try to keep an open mind.
That said... I greatly enjoyed reading your little story.

Kappas are typically depicted as roughly humanoid in form, and about the size of a child. Their scaly, reptilian skin ranges in color from green to yellow or blue.[5][6][7] Kappas supposedly inhabit the ponds and rivers of Japan and have various features to aid them in this environment, such as webbed hands and feet.[8] They are sometimes said to smell like fish, and they can certainly swim like them. The expression kappa-no-kawa-nagare ("a kappa drowning in a river") conveys the idea that even experts make mistakes.[9] Their most notable feature is an indentation on the top of their head that holds water; this is regarded as the source of their power. This cavity must be full whenever a kappa is away from the water; if it spills, the kappa will be unable to move. Though kappas are dangerous, they are also extremely polite, and a human can outwit them by bowing deeply to them; the kappa will be obliged to return the bow, thus spilling their water and rendering them immobile.[5][6]

I'm allright with Kappas, they look cool ... BUT I absolutely hate the 3 again FEMALE units of Sanctuary that are totally crappy and nearly identical

Everytime I hear that statement I am reminded that I'm lucky to only have a 3rd degree of myopia. Others weren't as lucky it seems

I don't know what is common between the myopia and the hearing. But I understand what you meant. The 3 female creatures aren't indentical.
Coral/Pearl Priestess has snake tail and human torso. I don't see what is indentical with the other 2 creatures. As I said yesterday, I don't like that devs stole some parts from other creature (Medusa) and put 'em on naga. But the ingame model looks good.
Spring Spirit/Muzi Kami has a naked body made by water. On artworks might have some similarities with Yuki-Onna but ingame models are totaly different. Also I don't think that Spring Spirits is a Water Elemental. We saw videos from alfa-version of the game. So I'm really sure there will changes. On support of this statement - at the end of Sanctuary's reveal video there is a battle scene and on the left-upper corner there are descriptions (damage, losses and so on). The Coral/Pearl Priestess was called Pearl Maiden/Tide Maiden and Kapa Shoya was Kappa King. So the names aren't issue, they can be changed.
Snow Maiden/Yuki-Onna has nothing common with the Spring Spirit as I said above. But I'm a little bit disappointed about ingame model. The artworks look better than ingame model.
I'm agreed with Baklava about Kappa. But in every Heroes from the series there are disliked creatures (actually many people like Kappa). So we can swallow 'em and this time. If you don't like Kappas don't recruit 'em

I love the Kappa. According to most japanese myth, you can take aways its power by bowing to it, since it is a very polite spirit it has to bow back and thus spilling its water (and as Elvin said, source of power).
Or you can bride it with cucumbers (or sometimes sea cucumbers, depending on the myth).
So yeah, I love it. Really nice design, from what I've seen from drawings in mythology, except this looks buffer and bigger.

Not to offend anyone who likes the kappas, of course. It's really, uh, original and all. I'm pretty sure the bathroom sink bit in the Wikipedia article was secretly added by North Koreans, though.

The Kappa does look wimpy compared to most other creatures. In fact, with its special, it looks very similar to the horned demon from h5 inferno.
I would presume a sharkman with a huge club would be more powerful than a weaponless creature "the size of a human child", but what do I know.
The lore is at least a bit interesting though.

I agree with you. There are many persons (well, not that many, but a considerable amount) who loves anything that "comes from Japan". And I understand them. The media refers Japan as a perfect country. But people don't understand that it is far from truth. I'm not going to talk about animes or maga because people who loves japan just because of that are lame.
However, I don't think this creature can be an example of how there are people who love anything from japan, because it has a good design.
