Bixies Homm VII

Ok, since a my good friend, Jiriki, has started putting down his ideas for heroes 7, I thought I might give it a shot.

be warned, however, that alot of the classic factions have been changed up a great deal. whilst some will be familiar, others will have changes that will make some scratch their heads. Trust me, there is method to my madness.

for now, I will be feeding a few gameplay basics, as well as some lore stuff, as well as get the basic story going. gameplay is open to suggestion, but story and lore stuff isn't.

gameplay
-5 resources, Gold, Stone, Iron, Wood and Crystal
-H6 tiered system of core, elite and champion returns, with 3 core, 3 elite and 1 champion. In addition, the new Common level is added, very weak and cheap units that can be summoned by heroes, provided they are still in stock at the capital.
-each faction has access to a different school of magic.
-8 factions of Haven (humans), Stronghold (orcs), Sanctuary (Longren), Academy (Var-soth and constructs), Rampart(Satyrs, half-elves and beasts), Necropolis (undead), Dungeon (Elves) and inferno (Demons). there will be one more in the expansion.

Lore:

The world of Aro
The world of Aro is a strange place. In the centre, lies fertile lands of Lorgroia, a rich and bountiful land, filled with great beasts. To the west is a great ocean, and a distant continent of unknown occupants. To the south of Lorgroia lies the islands of Corseka, the desert lands of Rah-la, and the savannah of Gopura. To the east of Lorgroia lies the tangle, a continent sized forest filled with all manner of horrors inside. Travel further east and you will find the valleys and mountains of Xu Zhidi. Northwards leads to the wastelands, where blizzards roar on the ice sheets. Underneath the surface lies the ruined kingdom of Jutonn, a vast labyrinth carved by the dwarves, with older tunnels leading into the unknown.

Story:
”When our empire fled, the human refugees began to fracture further, with the houses of swan pushing further into the desert. Whilst we made our pact with our new allies, they sought the lost empire of Rah...”
"Methuselah," moaned Prince Charles of the griffon dynasty of the holy empire, "I've heard this story a hundred times, I find it boring..."
Sir Methuselah rolled his eyes, he hadn't wanted to fight through seven long campaigns, and be crippled in the last one, in order to cater to a spoilt lordling whose father was only a lord in title.
"My lord, your father has instructed me to give you a proper education in warfare, magicks AND the history of our glorious empire. Your father not want you to derail peace talks with the kingdom of the five dragons because you don’t understand your own countries history."
“but I have a meeting with Alaji to go and see Gabrilla! It’s important that I keep my promise.”
Methuselah could only chuckle. When he was the princes age, the Leokin were merely natives to be controlled at kept at bay. Now, with their homeland conquered, the human empire had no choice but to drastically reconsider their position. Even the empress had taken a liking to the leokin people, taking the “Pridelord” as one of her advisors. This was to say nothing of the return of the angels...
“That may be, my lord, but your education must come first. Your father is clear on his position on the future of the empire. How would it look to the court if he had spent so much money funding the mutual education of both Leokin and human, only for his own son not to know how the white kingdom rose to power in the first place.”
Prince Charles groaned.
"Anyway," continued Methuselah, "as I was saying..."

The cool air off the mountains greeted Bingren as he walked into the camp, the casket under his arm. A small part of his heart swelled with pride as he saw the united army, with Longren falling dragon warriors suiting up in armour, Naga war dancers bedecked in gold and silk, and tengu fighters ritualistically devouring a fresh kill. The land of the five dragons was not going to fall this day. He made his way into the generals tent, carefully.
“Greetings, Lady Horashu of the family of the falling dragon.”
Horashu stood up from her war charts and saluted bingren, towering over the diplomat.
“And the same to you, Bingren of the family of the rising dragon. What news from the court of the high dragon?”
“I bring reinforcements and gifts” bingren said, smiling, “they have sent a large number of apprentices to back you up, as well as a cabal of seer’s.” His expression on his face turned grave “However, the prophets are restless, Lady Horashu. They believe that the satyrs have targeted one of their number for their “wild hunt”.”
Horashu nodded sagely
“Satyrs only gather in warherd for the wild hunt. Hunting powerful adversaries is all that matters to them. No matter, they will not get pass our defences. The family of the high dragon can rest easy.”
“That may be.” Bingren said, revealing the casket to Horashu, who stepped back with awe and reverence. “but they have decided that calling one of the 108 would be most beneficial for the greater good of the kingdom.” He hand the casket to Horashu, who took it with pride, before stepping back and saluted the now Venerated Lady Horashu. “Do not let us down, Hora.”

"That’s enough!”
Piraka bloodskorch pulled the two orc legionaries apart, Bullfleg and Corsken, formerly from fang and eye tribe respectively. The lonely outpost on the edge of the known world had gotten everyone on edge, with rumours of strange beasts roaming the jagged, wintery mountains. Rumours of unliving soldiers of stone had also reached the ears of the orcs, making them nervous.
“you are here to fight the enemies, soldiers, not each other. We no longer live under shaman rule, we are one nation!”
“then tell that cowardly scumbag that he can only fight dirty” roared Bullfleg, brandishing his cleaver towards the heavens. “shooting them in the back, trust the son of the eye to only kill cheap!”
“those words make a sentence, but the meaning isn’t there, whelp.” Snarled Corsken, drawing his musket. “cheap? A kill is a kill. You kill and conquer, or you die and are forgotten.”
The two looked at each other, old tribal hatred burning between them. The rest of the soldiers were gathered around, waiting to see the fight. Even goblins were starting to wonder which one would fall first. the crack of gunshot broke the tension.
“you two are forgetting your duty!” growled Piraka. The two orcs turned to her, and with a flicker of a grin, she continued. “we have a duty to protect this outpost the Var-soth and their forces. This is Orc land now, and we are not going to succumb to pettiness and squabbling.” She stepped forward, brandishing her seal of office, a black iron sigil. The orcs immediately formed into ranks and stood to attention. “Good. Now, we have had reports that the Var-soth are attempting to make a move against us. I want a unit of scouts to confirm reports and find out what they want with this place. Everyone, Back to your posts!” the legionaries began to move out. Bullfleg and Corsken are about to skulk off, but Piraka stops them. “you two are on double kitchen duty. You’ve caused enough damage. Dismissed, and your lucky that I'm so lenient.” The two orcs hurried away back to their post. Piraka looked out over the cold wasteland, and the dread shapes of the Var-soth began to appear on the horizon. She clutched at her sigil.
“This is Orc land now, invaders, and we will never forget that! Our fury will come like a storm, and you shall be driven our like to dogs you are! Long live the revolution!”

The city of Ptra glistened in the light of the desert sun, the old dusty pyramids slowly disappearing under the white gleem of the wyghtbone towers. From the balcony of his chambers, the necromancer Ushanti looked down on the city, his spider-like pale fingers resting on the railings, the claw like rings making slight scratching noises. Far, far below the orderly marching of Bone guard soldiers and the slithering hiss of the newly form crypt stalkers, lay the slums of the breathing, the poor souls who still had the miss fortune of being alive. Life was being ghettoized.
Ushanti gracefully glided back to his chambers. Elegant sculptures of white and gold greeted him, with a sisterhood of vampire serving girls waiting for him by his Wyghtbone throne. there was just enough humanity left within him to appreciate their curvaceous forms and seductive smiles. He sat back into the throne, and let the serving girls massage his head and pour him golden elixir into a glass goblet. Ushanti smiled as he thought of what he would do this evening, bathing within his bath of souls, allowing him to remain both alive and dead at the same time. the optimal state for a necromancer.
Suddenly, the serving girl slipped. A drop of elixir spilled out of the glass and onto Ushanti’s robe. With a flash of fury, Ushanti claw rings were at her throat, pulling out the organ with a squelchy snap. As the poor creature fell to the floor, clutching at her bleeding neck, Ushanti mentally ordered the other girls to throw her off of the balcony. He watched as the girls picked up their sister, crying with the humiliation and horror of it all, carried the writhing offender to the ledge, and tossed her into the air.
He knew the fall wouldn’t kill her. The shock of the impact will shatter every bone in her body, leaving her to crawl her miserable carcass around, where it would be torn to shreds by the living, or reduced to a dried husk by the crypt stalkers. He didn’t care. The girl dared to blemish his robe.
His thoughts turned to what the strange man had said. An alliance? Surely not with any living creatures. But the man said that someone was coming, who would reward their cooperation. Someone powerful, like a lord, or a king, or... a god. Ushanti sipped his elixir, questions brewing in his mind.

the Council of Warlocks looked at the individual sitting opposite them with unease. He was not elven, but nor was he like any other creature they have ever seen before. Such a convincing voice, and with a tongue as sharp as a daggerwhip and he spoke with such reverence, that even the jaded Casad of the Bitter Viper cult listened to his every word. But his eyes, black as the darkest coal, could not be ignored. There was nothing wholesome or right about the man that called himself "Kayn".
"So...what are you saying," muttered Casad, his fingers meeting as he looked at this newcomer with distrust.
"Ladies and Gentlemen," said Kayn, "I'm merely offering you a choice, a choice far better than living in the rotting kingdom of your long dead enemies. For my master is coming, and he will reward those who serve him with greatness. So you can either be enslaved unto his will, or you can become heralds in his new church, the priests of pain and spite."
"And why should I not kill you and dissect your corpse to see how you tick?" queered Vikula of the Cobra Blade cult, drawing her blade and licking it seductively. the other elves cackled, ready to enjoy the show. Kayn smiled and, almost lazily, waved his hand. Suddenly Vikula doubled up, letting out a terrified scream, her eyes bulging and rolling around in her skull. The warlocks looked on in abject horror and eager excitement.
"Because, my dear Vikula," Kayn said, "I can inflict more suffering on you than the entire elven empire will ever do in it's existence." He chuckled, raising the hairs on Casad's neck, and released Vikula, who was left gasping and shuddering. Casad watched on, silently. There was something disturbing familiar about this man. "You are all clever, oportunistic and cruel, my friends, and those qualities is what my master desires, along with his own creations might and the immortal magic of the necromancers. This is not a question of winning a war, for he offers willing conversion into his religion, and does not come with conscription. He offers you a chance to make the world your play thing, to shape continents on a whim, to stitch monsters and peasants and gods together, to create a world where your dark desires are to run rampant again, and again, and again until the world drowns in blood and the sun is extinguished in screams. My friends, join him, for there is a war in heaven, and Evil has already won."

Factions

Haven

We have never lost our hope. Through the destruction of our homeland, the shattering of our empire and the death of so many of our people, we have never lost our hope. By the grace of our god, the kindness of our allies and the glory of our armies, we shall push back the darkness and become a shining beacon for all once more. All will be well.- the crowning edict of Empress Jocasta 3rd

Hero: Paragon

Alignment: good neutral

Worship: both human and Leokin worship solar deities. The humans worship the goddess Uta, whose avatar is the sun, whilst the leokin worship Fla-ir, who is the sun.

The southern lands of Corseka and Gopura house the kingdom of the human and the leokin, which are the remnants of the once great human empire. Fashioned together through the will of the empress, they protect their kingdom and will endure all.

All will be well
The new optimism of the kingdom, attributed to the collapse of the old inquisition and the crowning of empress Jocasta 3rd, is prevalent through everything they do. The empire of old used to preach purity and mistrust, but now, togetherness and hope is now praised above all else. The empire is now looking forward into a brighter future, even with a new way of parting of “All will be well”.

Glory and tradition
Whilst the empire’s attitude is new, the traditional army of knights, warrior monks and conscripted locals, remains. However, Leokin warriors now are placed with much greater importance, and with the old lords of the inquisition disbanded, have become the moral centre of the army, standing alongside Galants, Cavaliers and Crossbowmen. The arrival of angelic protectors has also greatly boosted moral for all concerned.

creatures

common

Wisps -> Light Dancers
Whilst the humans call them Wisps and the Leokin call them Kerh-ubim, the arrival of theses creatures to aid the empire has greatly boosted the effectiveness of combat. Said to be formed from the hopes of the empires children, The wisps fight for the glory of the empire, shattering and reforming in tiny novas of light.

Core

Galants -> crusaders

Sheild bearers -> exemplars
The shield bearers are Leokin warriors who have fought for the right and the blessing of their god to wield holy shields into battle. Standing proud and tall, these mighty leokin proudly brandish golden shield, fashioned under the eye of the sun, as well as short scimitars, a testament to their pride. Exemplars are the strongest of the shield bearers, who have taken oaths of no retreat or surrender.

Crossbowmen -> Starshots

Elite

Gryphon riders -> Gryphon knights

Cavaliers -> Paladins

Priests -> Sun speakers

Champion

Angel -> Arch Angel

characters
Methuselah
a retired knight whose career spanned for some 50 years, all of it containing bloodshed, heartache and death, including the loss of his men, his family and his leg. Whilst he would rather nothing more than to continue his retirement in peace (as well as the much less taxing task of teaching bratty princes) Methuselah has been called upon by the empress Jocasta to serve in the military again, and he intends to do with the old chivalry that he is known for.

Stronghold
Now the orcs bow to no-one, be they beast, man or god. With the clammer of anvils and the thunder of guns, we take each day as a victory for our foundling nation. Strength shall carry your legacy, and courage will forge your destiny. From the mountains to the coast, from the forest to the desert, our cry will ring out, for though we die, the revolution will live on!- the battle speech of grand commissar Yorok Ragnar, formerly of thunder tribe.

Hero: warlord

Alignment: good might.

Worship: none. Orcs have a bad history with religion and wish to be rid of it.

In the ashes of the old human empire in Lorgroia rises a new state of Orc power, a new nation desperately establishing itself against attacks from all sides. Throwing of the shackles of their old shaman lords, the orcs now seek to forge a nation of freedom and strength.

the revolution lives on!
The memories of the revolution is still burning within the memories of most of the orcs, and it’s great act has resonce for most orcs. The glorious revolution has inspired all the orcs to fight for a place in the history of their new nations founding. Proud and Patriotic, the orcs hold onto their nation dearly, and cherish their freedom more than anything else, as dying free would be better than living as a slave again.

Spears and shot
After throwing off their archiac masters chains, the orcs set about turning their backwards tribes into a fully industrialised nation. Within the space of a decade, they have invented printing presses, weaving machines, steam mills and, naturally, new weapons of war, including muskets, cannons and explosives. Rank upon rank of Pikeorcs, flanked by Musketeers, march into battle, their Commissars waving their banners, and the screech of harpies following suit.

creatures

common

Goblin -> Hob Goblin

Core

Pikeorcs -> Legionaries
Pikeorcs are trained, seasoned individuals, trained at the various illustrious military academies that have been set up. When an Orc joins a regiment, they not only gain the respect of their peers, but also several benefits that are offered, by law, as well as having to follow a code of ethics that have to be maintained. Armoured in freshly made steel plate and wielding large shields and enormous pikes, Pike orcs march stoically towards the enemy, disciplined and strong.

Musketeers -> Fussiliers

Harpies -> harpies hags

Elite

Commissar -> decorated Commissar
Old tempers flare, old hatreds grow, it’s only natural for a race as tribal as the orcs. However, with the new nation, comes a new brotherhood, and the Commisars are nothing if not forceful in their attempts to unite the units. Waving enormous banners and proudly making speeches whilst firing swords, commissars hold the moral of his troop together, if not with rhetoric, then by example.

Boar Cavalry -> Boar Chargers

Ogre -> Ogre boss

Champion

Behemoth -> walking Fortress

characters
Piraka
A newly elected Warlord of the north rim, Piraka has had a career as a celebrated hero since she started her commission. The reputation is a sham and she knows, it, eternally trying to keep up appearences as a hero whilst desperately trying to get out of the firing line, which is often interpreted as eagerness for combat. Living under the legacy of her martyr father, Piraka just wants to get through her commission with all limbs in tacked.

Sanctuary
The prophets foretold of this happening. Once we did not believe them, disregarding them as fools. But not today. The court of the five kings have declared our nation to be geared towards the protection of our kingdom and our allies. We may be a old, foolish nation of artists and magicians, but we shall fight, for the sake of the world.- the proclamation from Qula kin, chief prophet of the family of the high dragon.

Hero: elementalist

Alignment: good magic

Worship: the phoenix dragon, Qwun-long-schzen, as well as the five dragons at the head of the families, as well as the 102 lesser dragons and each of their 8 lesser servants. Prayer to all of them is not necessary.

In the land of Xu zhidi, the Longren have long been isolated by their rulers. However, a new threat rears it head, and the prophets of the high dragon court call for action amongst Aro’s oldest and most diverse of powers.

Magic flows in everyone
The longren are a naturally magical race, and everyone of their number is able to manipulate the elements in some fashion. Even at the most basic level, Longren can augment swords with fire or cause arrows to fly further, sail boats by manipulating water or form castles out of the earth itself. Schools to teach magic to the more gifted students are common, and often supply the army with fresh-faced students to test their metal.

the five families
The longren are divided into Five families, based on one of the 5 major dragons in their religion. The family of the falling dragon are warriors, the family of the sleeping dragon are builders, the family of the rising dragon are diplomats and the family of the dancing dragon are messengers. The court of the high dragon is made up of the family of the high dragon, who are the prophets who guide the nation, as well as the elected family heads, as well as the rulers of the conscripted races of Naga, Tengu and Kappa.

creatures

Common

Kappa -> O-Kappa

Core

Senshi -> Senshi-raji

Tengu milita -> Tengu veteran

Apprentice -> Adept
Students of the magical academies, the apprentices are seen as the future of the kingdom. Often with very little combat training, they are forced into battle, carrying books and scrolls, because of their power over magic. Though it is pale comparison to the farseer, the apprentices are not to be underestimated, channelling mana into their commanders pool to help them.

Elite

Naga war dancer-> Naga bladeweaver

Wyvern rider -> Wyvern Lancer
Wyverns are considered the cousins to the mighty dragons, in a similar way a house cat is considered a cousin to a tiger. it has almost become common practice to see members of the family of the dancing dragon to ride theses creatures to deliver messages. The Longren have long used these beasts in combat, riding higher above the enemy, to come crashing down like a tempest onto the enemy heads.

Seer -> farseer

Champion

Dragon -> Jade Dragon

characters
Horashu
A ruthless new general of the western marches, Horashu’s actions are considered to be questionable at best in her protection of the western front. Whilst many of her detractors call her blood-thirsty and battle-seeking, Horashu has, time and again, defeated incursions from Satyr warheard and Elven monstrosities.

Bingren
Diplomat and Horashu’s confident and advisor, Bingren has the unenviable task of justifying Horashu’s actions to their superiors. Unfailingly polite, Bingren is often exasperated by his college’s actions, knowing that whatever news brings him, it’s another mountain of paperwork and a another week of meetings to try and explain why that village needed to be burnt down.

Academy
never trust a Var-soth, friend. They are tricky, cunning creatures, whose words sound plan, but have sixteen different meanings. Only concerned with themselves, and consider us playthings at best. Some say they have armies of living statues, some say they share a mind, and others say they can all see into the future. They’re bad news, and no mistake. - the last words of legionnaire Skori bullfleg before leaving the tavern on a path-finder expedition.

Hero: wizard

Alignment: neutral magic

Worship: unknown, but the overmind is often spoke of in the same reverence as a god.

The Var-soth are a strange, alien race that whose motives are unknown. They fly high above the land on esoteric fortresses, quizzically looking for information about this new world they are now slowly invading.

the overmind watches
The overmind connects all the Var-soth in mutual consciousness, a nirvana like plane of collective thought, governing over the Var-soth. What one var-soth knows, they all know, and when one var-soth feels joy, anger or fear, they all feel joy, anger or fear. The overmind itself is a separate entity, not ready to walk the lands of Aro just yet, but it is coming.

the unliving soldiers
The Var-soth themselves are unsuited to combat, collection or observation, so take advantage of strange magitek arts to craft beings of unflinching stone to do their bidding. Golems, Beholders, Gremlins and even bodies for some of the more adventurous var-soth form the ranks of this new invading army.

creatures

Common

Gremlin ->Stoneling

Core

Golem -> sentinels

Rune being -> Rune smith

Beholder -> observer
The beholder construct is a strange, multi-eye creation, forged so that it would be able to see the passage of history, the future and the present. Not usually used for combat, and more for observation and monitoring, the beholders do have defense systems that allows for them to blast little fractions of chronological energy at a foe.

Elite

Inquisitor-> thought machine
The inquisitors are bizarre constructs, able to manipulate and examine, before cataloguing and destroying before moving on. The same questions of how, what and why are constantly muttered by them, going through the same process over and over again, until they have achieved all the information in the world, and left the remains as rubble.

Di-Jin -> Di-jin Vizier

Var-soth mage -> Var-soth arch mage

Champion

Colossus -> titan

Characters
Academe Kal-mon-zor
Kal-mon-zor is a quizzical Var-soth, interested in the world around him, like most. However, he feels a most uncouth emotion of compassion in his study of Aro. As a result, he is often seen as having “Gone native” amongst his peers, and is ridiculed by the general the academia. However the overmind is still watching over him.

Rampart
before the crowded assembly, the chained beast started to thrash. Guards came to restrain it, but the beast seemed immune to the wound’s inflicted. Whilst the blood started to pour out of each wound, the beast started to roar a horrific mantra. “Kill, Slash, Maim, Burn, Die, Hunt!”- the recordings of the assembly of the orc nation, the human empire and the longren kingdom, where matters included “the satyr problem.”

Hero: beast master

Alignment: neutral might

Worship: none, as most are barely able to comprehend the idea of religion. The closest thing they have to any kind of ritual is the hunt itself, which is often called "the red pilgrimage".

The Satyrs and the beasts of the forests are primitive but barbaric creatures, hating of anything civilised and easily roused from a simple group into a violent, drunken warherd that could smash through empires.

the birds and the beasts
Make no mistake that satyrs are not the only monsters within the forest, for  the forests are littered with horrific creatures that come for the hunt. From the feral halflings, to the dread bandersnatchs to the patient half-elf hunters to the mighty minotaurs, the forest is a hive of monsters. The tangle is a dangerous place to go, even at the best of times.

the wild hunt
The forest truly unites under the call of the beastmasters, initiating a furious crusade to find a worthy kill during the wild hunt. This world shaking gathering brings out only the strongest and most dangerous beasts. When the warherd is called to the hunt, anyone could be a target, from the mightiest of kings to the weakest of slaves, all identified by a single black rune on the body.

creatures

Common

Halflings -> Fangling

Core

Satyrs -> Satyr blood horn

Werewolf ->  Hound of the hunt

Hunters -> Wild hunters
Not all humans escaped to the southlands, and not all elves fled to the underground. After being swallowed up by the tangle, whole communities merged and melded, forming a mixed race of creatures. Clothed in rags, losing all the grace and elegance of either of their former races, they still know how to hunt, and they still know how to fire a bow.

Elite

Minotaur -> Minotaur shaman
Minotaurs are often considered to be the beings with the strongest connection to the hunt, almost to a religious degree. The blood rage that fuels the hunts is increased and channelled through the minotaurs insane ramblings and chants, until they are unable to hold back any more. A minotaur in the throws of this “Red Fervour” is a horrific and terrible sight indeed.

Bandersnatch -> Manticore

Centaur Charger -> Centaur great mane

Champion

Gargantuan-> Sabre gargantuan

Characters
Tur the Cyclops
a old leader of the warherd, Tur is passionate about the hunt, but surprisingly cunning as well for a satyr, after loosing his eye on a fools errand. Gruff and taciturn, when he sounds the hunting horn, his warherd will always find it's target within a short time, giving his warherd the dubious title of "swift kill".

Dungeon
What do you know of pain? What do you know of suffering? Whilst you crawled in the dirt, gasping for air, we fashioned the continents, raised mountains, swept aside lesser beings and an extinguished stars. Now we hide from the world, crafting misshapen creatures to serve, waiting for our moment to rise, and reclaim our empire. Soon, you shall feel our pain.- the mad rantings from the captured elf.

Hero: warlock

Alignment: evil neutral

Worship: none. Too busy with debauchery and making people scream in pain for any of that.

Deep underneath the earth, the remnants of the old elven empire has been building up resources and ready to take back the world. A twisted, depraved, sadistic force, whose malice is only matched by their imagination and appetite.

fetch me more playthings!
The cruelty of the elves is legendary, as well as their hedonism. The underempire is a cavalcade of dark passions and hidden vices, enticing all but the purest of souls into it’s folds. However, it is a trap, and once ensnared, the victim can only whimper as the elves, patient, cunning and with a great array of nasty tools, have their way.

exquisite beauty and horrific beasts.
Elves are as beautiful as the moonlight on a shimmering jewel, but their flesh-craft creations are not. Surgically designed to be as wicked and as monstrous as possible, the beasts of stitches and sinew roar and scream their way onto the battlefield. As the elves march into battle, they are followed by grisly gargoyles, enslaved trolls, screaming Abominations, and many more.

creatures

Common

Trogolodyte -> Spined Trogolodyte

Core

Tormentors -> excruitators

Gargoyles -> grotesques
Gargoyles are evil-smelling, hideous creatures, created by the dark-elven warlocks from particularly strong captives. Through painful surgery, wings are grafted to the victims body, their faces and limps are imbued with fangs and claws, and their skin is “Charmed” with gnarly hardness. Grotesques are the Gargoyles who have survived for many battles, often to the extreme detriment of their looks and sanity, flying into combat with poisoned claws and deadly fangs.

Trolls -> troll gladiators

Elite

Mandrakes -> pureshadows

Abomination -> Warped Abomination
Abominations are created by those of exceptional flesh-crafting prowess. Barely alive screaming behemoths with multiple mouths and untold stitches, they waddle into the battle-field, too scared of their warlock creators to disobey, running in, hoping to die on their enemies blades before they wipe another army out.

Mistress of anguish -> Siren of screams

Champion

Chimera -> chimera prime

Characters

Casad
Casad is an old elf, Self assured, wise and resolute, but bitter and jaded as well. He's seen wars and pain and bloodshed, as well as engaged in all manner of depraved acts, and crafted hideous monstrosities, and now, he is without feeling, patient and wise in his actions. However, this new ally of the elves, Kayn, has peeked his interest and stirred up old feelings of doubt and worry within him.

Necropolis
we have attained perfection. There is no suffering and no pain. We call out to the lost, the broken and the helpless. You fear us, yet we offer you immortality. We shall flay the impure flesh from the world, and reveal the true face underneath. The great process has begun.- the written note left on a battlefield in an encounter with the white kingdom.

Hero: necromancer

Alignment: evil magic

Worship: none... technically. The way death is idolised certainly fits into the religious, if not the fetishistic, but it’s all claimed to be part of the great process.

Erudite and egmantic, the necromancers of the white kingdom are a force to be reckoned with. commanding vast armies of the dead from old tombs, the necromancers desire to scour the earth of life to create their perfect kingdom of the dead has hounded the other nations of years.

perfection of death
The necromancers ideal simple and terrifying, as it is the ideal of total omnicide. The eradication of all life, down to the tiniest plant, to create a perfect order under their control, is something that all necromancers agree on, and even they, to better fit this ideal, are in a state of semi-perma-death. The necromancers ideal world would be a porcelain white desert, with not a breath on the wind.

from the crypts
The Necromancers armies come from the depths of the crypts of the old kingdom of Rah, as grave robbing isn’t exactly a taboo to those who puppet the dead. Ranks upon ranks of skeleton warriors, scuttling ghouls, mummified lich corpses of old priests, the still living vampire kings and far greater monsters now serve under the unbending command of the necromancers.

creatures
Common

Walking corpse -> zombie
considered intolerable by most "upstanding" necromancers, the walking dead have not yet gone under the ritual of bathing in quick-lime, and thus are not free of the taint of flesh. That being said, they are not without their purpose, simply walking slowly into the enemy spears and swords, leaving the more cared for undead to finish them off.

Core

Bone guard -> white guardian
The bone guards are the great soldiers of Rah that died with their kings long ago, buried with their kings to be his army in the afterlife. These skeletons of men provide the core of a necromancers army, bathed ritualistically in quicklime, and armed and augmented with Wyghtbone weapons and armour, they march forward, unrelenting, unstoppable, and unforgiving.

Ghost -> spectre

Crypt ghoul -> crypt stalker
Ghouls are not an uncommon sight around the white kingdom, shambling animal/human bone hybrids, used as specialised servants for their master's day to day desires. From the Ibis-like Scribe ghoul, to the hawk-like messenger ghouls, to the crocodilian monstrous creatures known as crypt ghouls, all have a strange and unnerving ability to drain the moisture out of the air around them. Crypt ghouls are used in the military, for their strong jaws are just as likely to cut a man in two as to suck him dry.

Elite

Vampires -> Vampire lord

Lich -> arch lich

Sphinx -> Nercosphinx

Champion

Tomb lord -> White death

Characters
Ushanti
Ushanti is almost the archetypical necromancer, regal, aloof, elegant, and callous. living in luxury, Ushanti couldn't care for the power of lesser beings, worshipped almost as a god in the necropolis city of Ptra. However, the arrival of the "Prophet" Kayn, and his talks of a god walking the earth has made Ushanti nervous, and he seeks to curry favour with this individual, in order to keep his position.

Malia
Malia was a vampire princess, an old queen of the Rah empire, before being forced to work as a serving girl under a cruel necromancer. left for dead after a misstep, Malia has risen like a grizzly pheonix to carve an section for herself, and repay the injustices she has been inflicted with.

Inferno
Witness my engines of hate! See my minions, of iron and malice and flame! They are legion! They are destruction crafted! They have come to murder your world, and burn your hope into ash! I shall rise and tread this land once more! All will be one! – whispers from the corpse of a demon.

Hero: justifier

Alignment: evil might

Worship: all that is known about whatever god that the demons worship is that they believe that they are merely extensions to his will, and soon so shall everyone else. They hold Kayn, the self styled reverend and prophet of said unnamed deity, in very high regard.

New creatures of hate and flame now stalk the world of Aro, falling from the sky, poisoning the land and destroying villages and livelihoods. Lead by strange, helmeted individuals, the origins of these demons is unknown, but their purpose is not.

Swarm of hatred
Each demon is designed with a specific purpose in order to spread hatred, carnage and death around Aro. From towering brutes to deadly scuttling creatures, to imps that pester and annoy, demons of every shape and side are forged to create destruction, advancing with age and growing in power, refitted with new metallic exo-skeletons as they grow more powerful.

Edicts of the distant god
Even after their defeat, the power of the demons is not destroyed. From the shattered corpses to the trophy helmets left behind, there are dark whisperings from some ancient being, whose words cause nihilist fury to come over those who hear. The only one who knows the true nature of this voice is a man called Kayn, the prophet of the dark one, and he’s not saying anything.

creatures

Common

Spites -> imps

Core

Myrmidon -> grim Myrmidon
the Myrmidons are the soldiers of the dark one, almost completely covered in a metalic exo-skeleton, with blank featureless faces and bulky shoulders. They are created with the sole purpose to spread fear and despair as they march towards you, leaving corpses and gibbering wrecks in their wake.

Pariah -> burning Pariah

Hellhound -> Eviscerator

Elite

Succubus -> Infectors

juggernaut -> rampage juggernaut

Efreet -> Pyroclast
Efreets are demons whose fire of hatred has burned strong and bright over the long years of combat. Born aloft under their own seething flames, they scorch the lands, their power so strong that it snuffs out mana itself, sending enemy mages insane. The approach of the Efreet gnaws away at the magical power, infecting the very souls of all those who fight them.

Champion

Pit fiend -> pit lord

characters
Kayn
A mysterious figure, dressed like a dark priest, is wondering the land, a smile upon his face. No-one knows who he really is, but his words are inticing and full of passion. Whenever he walks into a room, he is like a snake amongst mice, carefully manipulating the people with promises of power and edicts from his “Master”, his words inviting anyone to listen further, and damn their souls to his servitude.

thanks for all the positive feedback, guys.

the longren are essentially dragon people, they are humaniod with stuff like horns, scales, tails etc. they are naturally magical as a species, so manipulate the elements in order to function. similarly, they also place alot of races under their protection, provided said races are willing to help them in return (hence, the tengu and the naga)

the Var-soth are strange creatures, essentially floating heads (I kind of imagine then to be semi-octopoid). however, they are naturally magical, again, and so crafted bodies out of stone and metals in order to function. they eventually started moving on to creating more constructs, like Golems, to do work for them whilst they study this world.

on a personal note, I kind of like Kayn. I kind of like the idea of this guy rallying the forces of evil behind him, like an evil Aragon. apart from anything else, he's clearly got a plan going for the world.

also, the dark elves are just elves...

edit: added the "Good" alignment races

so the longren are the five dragon kingdome'S main race?

THe Var Soth seem a bit strange^^

THe Kayn thing...well, it's a bit used in fantasy. But on the other hand, for a game like Heroes, classical fantasy stories are quite good, I think.
Are the described factions all their will be?

as far as I'm concerned, the nature race isn't going to be the elves. the nature race is going to be the Satyrs and the as of yet unrevealed race of the first expansion.

elves are all bat-sh*t insane in this one. They retreated to the underground kingdom of Jotunn as one race, right after killing the original owners.
