I've got a couple of questions for you Cat.  Is is it a biscuit or a cookie?  What's a crumpet?  And finally, where I come from when we call someone spunky we mean that they are feisty or perky.  What does it mean where you come from?

I Learned Some From Princess Diana

"Blubbing one's eyes out."
--Crying like a baby

"Demented about the children."
--Very worried

"A filthy row."
--An all out domestic dispute

"Sick as a parrot."
--Terribly disappointed after you get your hopes up and have them dashed.

"Pined for him but he never rang me up."
--To long for someone when they don't call you on the telephone.

Thanks to Asmodean for translating those for me when he did.
