Need advice on downloading this game
I just spent over a hour DL this game & then reinstalling & i get the same thing.
An error that says d3dx9_40dll is missing. Some Exe for heroes 6.
Do yall have any advice.
Something about my laptop or if the game is bunk & I need a new one etc?
Help would be appreciated as the website has no clue as well.

that's not related to download,
googling on intternet, it appears you might need to install latest DirectX9 on your computer...I think that you can do so from game DVD else search on net like

There was also DirectX9 on H5 CD.
Are you using Vista?
PS: same problem happened when I originally installed H5 on my laptop with Vista - It did not have Direct X9 originally & had to install it from game CD.

No but I am guessing i might know what the problem is.
I play Civ 5 with Direct 9 as well.
I think when I was in the middle of DL Heroes 6, i forgot to Uninstall Heroes 5. So in the middle of DL Heroes 6, I uninstalled heroes 5.
It may of uninstalled Direct 9 as well.
I will install it again.

uninstalling H5 should have no effect on DirectX9
If Civ5 requires DirectX9 & you can play Civ5 then well that is weird & not much chance me being any help, sorry.

I dl the latest Direct X 9 & uninstalled Heroes 6 AGAIN lol.
Now i will spend another hour dl it AGAIN LOL.
Last time though. Any problems & I am done with the heroes franchise.
Always a problem now lol.

Haha it is ok. I do appreciate it.
Maybe it is just the disc, or I need to reboot or something.
Lets see what happens.
In a hour 
No go. It will not dl. Even when i did dl the 9.0 Direct X.
Oh well. I guess either return the game or wait & see if a patch will help.
Now yall know why I hate playing this game now LOL.

gee that's sad, also yes I did need reboot computer to make it run after it failed to run first time.
anyway there's a day one patch ~500MB that gets applied when one first tries to run it...(eg. can't even run it without the patch being applied) but I guess you aren't even getting into the UPlay login screen yet.
btw I thought when one buys a game digitally that one downloads the installation files & then installs from computer without needing to download all that again.
I'm sure Elvin can help

Hmm. When I first installed the game I had a similar issue, told me something was not installed and that I had to reboot my pc. Having dled the game from ubishop I rebooted, found where it had been saved, ran it again and this time it was properly installed. Have you tried installing it without running other applications? Or do you have the beta or a demo? You should uninstall those before you attempt to install the game, the issue may be related to them.

No. I bought the game at the store.
I deleted heroes 5 & downloaded this one.
I guess i have to look at it more when I get home from work.
Not to mention it is a pain when it takes a year to DL too lol.

Well after about a hour or 2 getting the dll files ready.
Now i cant even get the game to load LOL.
Man why do they make this game so big on files where even a fast laptop like mine cant even get it to load without it not responding.
I swear it is like one problem to another.

Laptop eh, I'm guessing black screen. Check the news thread, there should be posted a fix for that.
