Huh! I have been doing something similar by shooting the ground and throwing, but shooting the flag cuts out the middle man and I can even do it mid air! Clever!

It's no fun playing INF when all the enemies are hurdled up in the same room.

Bella Omega still had the best genroom... many corridors and stuff... you could isolate foes and take them out one by one.

In genrooms like Temple Ruins ya gotta bring an assault force with you to even get in.

Yeah, Old Bella Omega had the best gener rooms. It was large and with open areas, but also narrow corridors and especially there were several corridors to every place. The Arx Novena and Dry Docks are kind of good, but they are rather small but especially just linear. I miss Bella Omega, it was a rather good map, all things considered.
Oh, and a friend of mine started playing yesterday and I joined him in babby league. It was me and like four other guys who actually had any idea of what was going on (and they of course stacked the teams) an I suddenly realised something; the metagame is so different in babby league, and after a few (seven) most players had learned a thing or two and had the tactical basics down (I spilled a lot of beans in that chat) and Sunstar was suddenly a nice map to play! This confirms that it is mostly the meta game that ruins it! There were a designated defence that was set up for both teams, a small midfield battle and people going in for offence to open up for cappers. Get me right here, they were still playing rather badly, but they at least knew what they were failing at. I could just go anywhere and snow snow up completely, but the babbies couldn't! Now I just wonder what, and how long, it'll take for the metagame for Sunstar to stabilize in the big boy PUBs.
So after I established some knowledge about tactics on them I just decided to play god for a couple of games and decided that only one single guy in the enemy team was the only one allowed to cap and as superheavy inf I made sure that's what happened. They won five to zero and I should've told that guy about VGTG because he would've spammed it.

You know, for a game that's called Tribes: Ascend there isn't a lot of ascending going on... Hirez seems to favor putting the flags straight on the ground.

Have you seen the tunnel on top of the Temple Ruins base? Imagine if you put the flag there. Fricking awesome I tell you.

Made a topic about elaborate bases.

Also holy shazbot I'm making XP fast with the booster... I didn't even realize it activated by itself. Just bought a little Shazbucks and a booster was apparently included.

If I play an hour every day for the next 30 days I doubt I'll ever need to use gold for anything besides gold exclusives.

EDIT2:

86% of the players think tactical/orbital should be removed. I voted for removal as well.

A far too cheap way to remove flag defense.

Sure, but the polls on there are so twisted. I wouldn't trust the results as a consensus for even a split second.

So they are syncing disc velocities! Hurrah! It's downright bad that I loose my aim whenever I switch class. I hope they do the same for bullet type weapons, hopefully even the SN7, chain gun and LAR.

I mysteriously ended up on a rank 3 kiddy pool server.

Man that was a different experience. Man did they cry about my Jackal hahahahah. Ah so evil... I should've just left but... the troll in me said no.

Switched to PTH the second game and no one ever said ANYTHING. Me on the other hand, shouted out orders and they were like "OBEY THE GOLD RANKED ONE" and actually did what they were told

Amazing level of coordination on the team actually. I said VDF and the heavies lined up on our flag, I said VVM and they moved out of my way for me to cap.

This must be why Shares is creating a clan of noobs. He wants to command them.

Totally different experience from the mid-ranked metagame. Actually more enjoyable actually... not just because I hauled bronze ass... just... nicer atmosphere overall.

Why twisted? Sure it doesn't represent the entire playerbase, but it's a nice guideline no?

Didn't tell me what ya think on the subject btw.

Oh and check this out. Since the game files have told the truth so far, these are most likely the weapons and equipment planned.

Why twisted? Well, if you run into a poll that you disagree with you'll mostly ignore it. They end up being more like petitions, were you can only see one side of the coin.

As for the babby servers, they do grow very entertaining after a few games, when they get a bit more stable and you've established an identity.  Unless there are a few other skilled players who decide to stack one team. Then you're back to just the regular unbalanced matches.

And the team kind of started out for a thing for the more serious players in a group of people I know, but a large bunch of noobs just sort of signed up. I doubt more than two thirds will actually be active at all, and I have no idea how many of those will actually be playing in the team.

Some patching today, with some balance changes, but mostly hidden back end changes and preperations, but I will give you:

My highlights!

"Spinfusor projectiles now travel at the same velocity, though Spinfusor weapons still vary in damage, radius, and fire rate."
Snowl yeah! Been waiting for this one! I play most classes and it's downright annoying doing blueplate upon blueplate and then switch class and not being able to hit anything that's more than 20m away. Especially the heavy spinfusor discs were just so slow!

"Time for inactive reload reduced from 6s to 5s."
Encouraging more weapon switching are we? Well, good then. This'll make my quick draw jugger a bit stronger and 5s seems like a reasonable time.

"Damaged caused by early in-air detonation of Infiltrator's Jackal rounds reduced by 50%. Knockback from in-air detonation also decreased by 50%."
Well... I dunno about this one. First of all it can seem a bit... negligent to release a weapon and then have to make a severe nerf to it 40h later. This is also a nerf that is very specific and only applies under specific circumstances, i.e. a band aid fix or, as I usually call them, an exception fix, and I don't like that. And what do they mean by "early"? 0.3s? 1s? 2.5s? Sure, I agree there was a balance issue, but this is a lazy and not thought out fix and I know Hi-Rez can do better than that.

EDIT: And I do like the Nova Colt buff, but 180 to 190... uhm... It's not noticable.

The whole forum has been crying for the Jackal to be nerfed by completely removing mid-air detonation.

It makes no sense for the INF to have the best dueling weapon in the game.

Not sure how much this'll help... it'll still be a weapon that can be used very efficiently in duels.

I agree with the balance issue, as said. It doesn't make sense that the inf gets a weapon that can be used effectively at all ranges, being the best (explosibe) weapon against airborne targets, being rather great against earthbound as well and totally dominate indoors as well as having the ability to destroy assets, set traps and do good damage. It's a weapon that ranges from good to the best in almost all circumstances.
I do however disagree with an exception fix that is so circumstancial. Either slower reload rate or just smaller splash would make it less viable as anti-air, while not affecting it's intended purposes that much (short burst damage and traps) and are both changes that are consistent and an already established gameplay value.

Roll back your windows clock to year 2000, BANG. You now have over 4000 days worth of boost.

Hirez' boost system doesn't count boost time server side, but bases it on your own computer's time. Hilarious.

Mostly play without music or just take my full playlist, but when I do choose my music I usually want instrumental music for games. The lyrics often distract me from the VGS messages and I start to shut them out. So I have listened to the HoMM OST (2,3 and 4) a lot while playing, and a lot of Dream Theatre, Starcraft OST, Paganini, Locatelli, Command anc Conquer OST and some brony music (listening to My Little Pony music as you slaughter people is almost as much fun as listening to Tom Lehrer while doing it (Tom Lehrer is a hoot and a half)).


So, I set my system clock back a week and got seven extra days of booster and it also reset my login info (had to re-enter it) and my news notifications. Blue all over the menus.

The PTH-whining-theory holds true... guess that Yukikaze dude got mad at getting a Beowulf shell in his face everytime he tried that same old route... ^^

The fact that I got Slayer in that game was because I had awesome TCN teammates that responded instantly everytime I requested repairs though.

I love the Beowulf... funniest way to play flag defense imo.

Also... TRIBES ASCEND MOBILE VERSION!

Oh... I just feel like beowulf defending is aiming at one place and timing your shots, but if you enjoy it then that's good for you! Them pathfinders are so self righteous in their rage, saying that anything but skiing is noskill tasks. I understand their rage though. Capping is 90% teamwork, and if nobody clears the stand a potent defender can fend of almost any grabs on any map but drydocks! Even I get rage-y when I feel like I'm doing good grabs but can't touch the flag! Especially since the main reason I ever go for caps is when there are no cappers on the team.

You mean like playing base-rape Jug? That's also aiming in one spot basically.

I enjoy it regardless, and feel like a real credit to my team when I one-shot a really fast capper coming in, and even more so when the enemy devotes resources to destroying me.

I also mainly go capper when there aren't anyone else doing it.

About time I say! Thirteen years it took them to realize! Good that Zubis came around and fixed it!

Adrius: Aww! I've gotten at least fifteen people to start playing T:A without even trying! The 25 ref. bonus wouldn't seem so distant if I already had those 15... well, well... a thousand gold wouldn't do me that much good either.
And it is obvious that they don't expect people to get even near the 10k, since 1k is a weapon named in your honour, and they can't really have more than 4-5 people get that far even.
