Important knowledge/Useless Information
Hey, i just watched the news!
And that made me think. (Yes I AM able to think)
The story in the news was:
A local store just resently raised the debit card fee, from some small amount to arround 2$ (10 danish crowns)...
But, then the news-guy told us that the raised debit card fee was illegal. So the police made him change the fee back to normal..
So how is that news? I mean..
is it Important Knowledge or Useless Information?
-------------
Your turn to question the news..
(Mention something you find useless, yet a little important, and ask us all)
(Like: One percent of women have sperm allergies. This means that the skin will swell and itch where it was in contact with the husband's sperm.) <= Is that usefull to know, or is it useless?

Well obviously their intent was to inform other stores to not do such a thing

I still think its useless information... I mean, the news..
The other channel talked about a guy being shot by an immigrant.
I guess this thread was a stupid idea after all?

You hoped to derive knowledge from the news ??? .
All news does, is inform of an event, then sugar-coat it to suit their own agenda(s), there's no knowledge to be had. Simples

I like how people snow that HC doesn't have the creativity or new threads of the old days, but then shoot down any one coming up with a new idea.

Not necessarily 'shoot'. Hanged, drawn and quartered more like
If you define 'knowledge' as having an ample supply of crap to fill your skull, then the news is a valuable source, if not, then you're just scratching the surface .

There is actually more behind this than you may think. For instance when you get "rewards points" on your credit card what is actually happening is when you buy something credit cards have the right to charge for their services and so they charge the merchant a fee. However rather than keep this fee they give the money to the person buying as a reward for using the card. They really make their money off of interest on debt. I don't know why he choose to make a fine for debit though, as from the merchants point of view debit may be the best option, depending on how much of a hassle cash is for you. It should always be preferable to credit and checks. I'm guessing there is some difference in the legal system of Denmark that made this man want to force people away from debit. I would need to know why he did this to know the exact implications.
