I didnt know what can I do!! When i met up whit the frist tresure hunter his quest to kill the assasins on dorana. but they are to strond and the granades didnt works!!!
Got a bunch of people playing on maps4heroes, asking about things, so I looked in and did important upgrades, both graphical (ok, most graphics are from 2009 and crap, I won't redesign all stuff, just added custom dialogs and some 3D sprites) and scripted. As it is very unlikely I design a second SGA, this will probably be the last version.
[+] created new dialing graphics, close to realistic
[+] Adventure map, keys F1-F4 will bring menus from help, faster.
[+] battle: key F2 shows your SGA members health left, all of them.
Easier than right-click each. key F1 brings special menu, as before
[+] new difficulty, normal. Monsters get +50% better stats but you get more gold from battles, McKay can upgrade a bunch of new things, as land mines, inferno and Daedalus fire power. Income from trade routes is maximum 9k gold/day.
[+] Spells applied by Ronon now last 10 rounds (before was 3)
[+] more gold from quests
[+] added 4 mines for metals, 1 gold mine
[+] several hard battles locations will give stats, just be sure to fight them all
[+] Atlantis city menus are now much faster (nano)
[+] weapons shop in travelers city now improve your stats past 100 (use the wog plugin showing stats until 125)
[+] call jumper delays are now removed, is instant.
[-] removed talkie walkie from SGA on day 1. Was surely an error in previous version, as talkie walkie is part of the second weapons generation.
[+] changed graphics for SGA adventure map sprite.
[+] changed little portraits of SGA in map adventure
[+] added a lot of graphics from new interface mod, as they fit with what is around
Preview of 1.4
Gate dialing process upgraded, closer to the show than ever
I tried posting in maps4heroes but that's failing inexplicably, so I'll try here.
Brilliant work. Really more than I could have expected.
But now here I am in Tollan and I'm stuck. I've fought every stack I could find...
- In Athos I killed everything except the assassin, the lions, and the orchidees. And a few of the dwelling-type locations.
- In Sateda, I'm not having much luck. I killed the archers and earththings to get to tollan. I managed the werewolves. But even two axemen is too much to handle, as is the 12 archers, the two laser things, etc. I can do some of them if I let one of my guys die, but... that way lies failure.
- In Tollan, it's also pretty bad. I managed one fight in the arena, and eventually after a bunch of tries, the second one too. I'm not even close on the archers, swordsmen, gentleman, etc.
I've got all the first-level gear (from 100 of each resource). If I get lucky with trades next week I can get the second-level gear. I've spent all my gold on HP bonuses, attack, defense, +dmg, all roughly similar amounts (except not much atk/+dmg on Sheppard for now since he's still Grenade Guy). I'm finding I often don't have enough HP on McKay to withstand ranged attacks, nor on Teyla to absorb melee. And the melee mobs *love* hitting her.
So... I think I'm either missing some strategy in the battles, or in choosing upgrades. Or both. Can anyone help please?
Thanks!
[Since I wrote that, I realized that possibly the second-level gear will make McKay useful and solve my problems. I'll try that. But still it seems like I'm missing something, maybe battle tactics?]

Some fights need indeed to be delayed for later, but normally you should get your way in smoothly, the map is not designed for combat difficulty. Think to buy as soon as possible the upgrades of abilities, as shoot ice ray, lightning bolt, McKay's Inferno, then use grenades, they do a good job. Also Teila has the ability of healing the others, used it? If stuck, upload a save and I'll look.

Thank you!!
Actually, I managed (just barely!) to make it work. The upgrade to second-level gear is critical (the battle computer makes it a whole new game). I was just barely able to trade my way up to enough materials to buy it, and once I got it, everything fell into place.
I think my mistake was that I didn't realize that there was a hard cap on some materials available at some stages of the game, when I started, so I made some trades that were long-term advantageous, but in the short term I almost couldn't scrape up enough sulpher (er, whatever you call it) to get the needed upgrades. In fact I had to redo four game days of play to back out my last set of trades.
After that, everything went pretty smoothly. My team is now up to level 9 and things are good.
I really can't believe how much work went into this. It's amazing!

I am now close to finished with the game, and I am stuck because of what seems to be a bug.
I am at the point where I need to make alliances, and I have done so for every planet except Athos. On Athos, I can't visit the mayor. I can go there, but none of the Athos Mayor's house locations are visitable any more. They used to be - that's how I started the trade route - but now, I can't get in there any more.
Since this worked at the start of the game, I don't think it is a map issue (obviously, really, the most basic playtesting would find it). So I don't even know where to start to look to try to fix it. Do you have any advice?
Separate, much less important question: there are two enemies in the game that seem impossibly hard: The throng of laser eyes in Athos, and the pirate dwelling with many pirates that do 60damage and clone themselves. Are those beatable using some strategy I haven't figured out?
Salamandre said:I don't see any reason they are not visitable, maybe you look at the wrong building? Upload a save please if stuck.
I'm pretty sure I'm not making a dumb mistake... but I guess I'll know shortly. :-)
Here it is: https://we.tl/t-9UJt7PhZd1
BTW, there are some other interesting bugs, though not so important. For example if you look at Ronon, you can see his attack stat is ridiculous. That just happened in the middle of the game (I think, when we got the top-grade armor). That armor has interesting bugs too, BTW - every time I took it off and put it back on, the team's stats go up. I had to back down two game days of play when I noticed that to keep the game from being too easy.
Thanks very much for looking at this!

Goddamn it, I hate being stupid. I was so sure the entrance was on the other side. :-(
Anyway, thank you very much for the help, and also for this amazing map/mod. Having now completed it, it's definitely one of the most unique mods I've ever seen in any game - I love how you subverted, worked around, and generally ignored the various constraints of the original HOMM3.
I have already moved on to your revised TEW2, and will no doubt have questions about that, in time.
In the meantime, while overall I'd definitely give SGA a "10", I did want to say that I found the repetitious battles a bit boring. Too many fights were carbon copies of previous fights. In regular HOMM3, there's enough variation in stack configuration from battle to battle that it keeps your interest. But all the fights against wraiths towards the end were just way too much of the same thing.
I've read you say that you're not mapmaking anymore - which is too bad for the rest of us - but if you ever do change your mind, I wanted to offer that feedback.
