I'm sure the insiders know this, but I don't see what harm would come from letting the public in on this info. Then again, this is Ubisoft who thinks everything has to be kept a national secret.

I'm just curious if the expansions were already started by BH and Limbic is just finishing them up or has Limbic had to start them from scratch. This will give us a good idea on timelines on when we might expect them.

Unfortunetaly, I don't think so, this skill system is already deeply embedded into the H6 game along with the reputation system so I think it's there to stay...

The only things we can hope for is unique additions to the skill system for each faction and also, more importantly, making certain skills more important/efficient than they currently are, to warrant choosing them.....

You bet. We can test the balance changes for ourselves now and judging from the extensive list of changes they have been keeping notes of our suggestions

While I agree that a return to full H5 system is unlikely, I don't agree that those are the only things they can do, like:
- Make a stronger interdependancy on certain skills - like making the "native skills" like Light Magic I/II/III requirements for other skill of appropriate level - is one possibility.
- Redividing the Might skills into actual schools instead of just having one large Might skill pool is another (I know there are currently 5 "classes", but with no class skills and no faction-banned skills, this doesn't carry any significance what-so-ever on gameplay).
- Adding mastery effects, so that increasing your proficiency in a certain school will make skills more effective (think old-school basic-advanced-expert effects for spells).

Phew, sounds good Was hoping they were doing that instead of completely unbalancing the game the opposite way through internal testing.

Say, that forum, they wouldn't happen to use it to get feedback on other aspects of the game? For example, some screens of certain places, towns, forts, towns, that sorta thing? Because that would be a good place to get artistic feedback to make sure they captured the essence of the game

I like your comments about skill interdependancy, it's just that the layout of the skill tree system won't seem to cater for this...(it's a drop-down tree system and not lateral).
There are mastery effects already in place or am I misunderstanding? Eg. if you go from Light Magic II to III your healing spell efficiency increases....

My thoughts as well but I find it unlikely that they would go to those lengths for the time being. That said Irina did mention that the skill system would be improved in the future so let's keep our fingers crossed.

That's right. But the best proof that they care about capturing the essence of the game is seeing the duels of champions artwork, it is simply amazing how beautifully drawn the cards are. Very consistent with H6 too. I wonder if some of the new units will appear in H6 sometime, whether as neutrals or alternative lineup units. But to answer your question, yes, we give feedback on H6 artistic/atmosphere issues. I'd like to think that we have played our role in the town screens to come

While we are perhaps slightly sidetracking here, I'm not sure I understand completely the first part of your post, but I guess a lateral interdependancy is what I want to add, i.e. you need certain key skills in order to learn other skills in the tree. Some more elaborate ideas on that subject has been discussed here.

While it is true that Light Magic I/II/III (and same for other schools) will give you a power boost to spells from this school, this boost is fairly moderate and doesn't add any unique effect you don't get from boosting your power by other means (like skills that boost power in general, or artifacts that boost power). Hence, the incentive for specialising in one school is very small.

Just the artwork but I know that they will be interactive and show all buildings so I'm satisfied. As far as atmosphere goes, yes it grealy adds to the immersion and is true to the feel of the faction. Those I have seen anyway.

Good news Elvin, good news!

@Alci -> Yes, I agree with you.....for example, for Time Statis you need Prime Magic III....they would just need to structure might skills similarily in different trees for this to work:
Might attack skill tree
Might defence skill tree
Might ATB skill tree (initiative, speed, etc.)
Might Hero-affecting skill tree
etc.

Basically, through some mechanism or another, you want people to be forced / highly encouraged to use spells from one or few schools of magic, either by requirements, or boosts. Why not just boost the school specific buffs ( e.g. the +1/2/3 spell power to firemagic) that are already there? That has nearly the same effect as requiring them for more powerful spells.

Also does encouraing / forcing players to stick with fewer schools of magic really game the game more tactical? Instead of picking the best skill set that compliments each other across the board, you are picking which school you like most and just getting that. I like it the way it is.

Boosting the element specific magic buffs to maybe +3/+4/+5 I think is a good compromise.
