I rolled for you, because there was no option for you to roll or not to roll. So I made the roll and posted the results. Your turn is done.

I reckoned, hence I didn't post, hence I was confused at me again not having finished my turn, but I'll just post all the time now, so there's no confusion on either side.

This Mythos card is very useful. If you can get to the University streets, I recommend doing so.

Quote: As of right now, yes. I wanted to play with 6 people.
For the next game, I may up the limit to 8 if there is a demand for it.
Yeah, I figured this after reading more about this and realizing that it was a board game. But it looks very interesting and I would love to join the next round.
For now just count me as one of the poor citizens of Arkham City who are holding out for a hero!

Damn straight Dagoth, go show the Star Spawn who's boss! I'll be over there. Behind that rock. Cheering for you.

I don't change my stats and just go to the black cave to have an encounter and get the tokens.
EDIT: opps this landed in the wrong thread here we go Btw what happens when someone goes to independence square? Do you have to pass sneak checks for all the monsters? Fight all of them?

Does using that find gate spell count the portal as being explored?

Yes. However, Find Gate must be cast during the movement phase. So you will enter the portal and have an encounter. Instead of moving to the second part of Other World, you can cast the spell, which makes the gate explored. Since you will not have acted, you can then try to close the portal that turn.

Whoops. Missed that.
As to Independence Square, you have to fight and/or sneak past all of them to get to the gate.
Tactically speaking, it may be interesting to fail a combat check against the Nightgaunt...

Can we choose the order in which we fight the monsters? Would make sense to get your combat as low as possible in order to fail against the Nightgaunt as you suggested. Then you could seal the gate and get rid of a few of the occupy Independance square monsters.
Also I'm guessing we were a bit unlucky right? I mean a monster surge doesn't usually happen on the second turn right?

Now that I'm thinking about it, couldn't gnomes have used a clue token to get a die roll on that skill check?

No. I looked at every possible way to save him. However, the check was Sneak(-2). He had 0 sneak. The clues would have put him up to 0 dice.

Really? The wiki says that if in the negatives, using a clue would be treated as moving from 0 to 1. It says:
Finally, sometimes you are in way, way over your head. For instance, you might have Fight 2, and you need to succeed at a Fight -4 check. Well, that would mean that you get to roll negative two (-2) dice, so obviously you can not succeed. Here, there is an even further advantage to Clue Tokens - any negative number of dice is treated as zero dice, so you can discard a Clue token and still get to roll a die, instead of needing to first burn 2 Clue Tokens "just to get up to zero".

Huh. When I learned the game a couple of years back, we just treated it as an automatic failure. However, that does seem overly harsh.
I'll reroll for Gnomes.
I apologize for the snags. It's been awhile since I played Arkham Horror and admittedly, I am rusty. Thanks everyone for your patience.

Using the clue tokens, I rolled a 2, then another 2.
Given that this was an error on my part, I am not going to charge you for the clue tokens, Gnomes. Unfortunately, you still will lose 1 for being rendered unconscious.
