Well, I've got a feeling that SoD sales will be quite good (outside of our pessimistic and "I don't like Ubisoft" forum lot, a lot of people are looking forward to the Dungeon faction).

How do you quantify that "lot" ?

Well it's not that their easy to count, and I'm sure Ubi lost a lot of buyers with it's support policy. But usually those are players who read the forums, discuss the game on a daily basis.

And there are those casual players who will always remember Heroes games as fun TBS games. Their not completely ignorant of how the game plays, but they're usually like "Hey, I'm having fun with this game. Oh, Dungeon faction? I remember those... I really liked them in Heroes V" etc. I've read many comments on different gaming or even Heroes-related sites, and many people have this kind of reaction. I don't see many comments like "Ubi f*cked this game up for me, I will never play it again! I won't play any Ubi Heroes game ever again". I mostly see the likes of those comments on forums like this one, where people are digging deep into every aspect of this game, witness how many bugs it has (I would never even notice a large portion of bugs if someone didn't say about them on this forum), share with their thoughts on how they were treated by Ubi's support etc...

I'll show you what I mean with my own example. I once bought Empire: Total War Gold Edition and played it, having a lot of fun with it. It had it's flaws, but it played quite good for me. I needed to check some info, because I wanted to fix an issue with unreadable in-game font, so I visited the official forum. And there it struck me. All the rage of players in one place: "ETW is the worst Total War game in history!", "Creative Assembly f*cked us nicely!", "It's the most bugged Total War game in history... not only that, it's the most bugged game in gaming history!". I didn't even suspect that it had so many issues. If I didn't visit the forum I would not have known about any of the problems with the game (most of them were probably fixed before the Gold edition was released). See what I mean?

Speaking of expansions, maybe Ubi will want to save their game with a second one, just like they did with Heroes V TotE... a calmed fan is easier to deal with

I think this expansion is set to save their game from the people who liked H6.

You are simply too optimistic, blob.

Because, I've lurk some time on the facebook page and the official forum and I saw so, so much, so much negativism, hate against Ubisoft and this title...the incredible number of bugs since the release, the delay on the first patch (two months for 1.2 ...), the silence of the BlackHole bankrupt, the constant delays on Limbic patches, announcing some fixes and improvements to the map editor that never come out, the overpriced DLCs, uplay randomly deleting your saves, limbic patches creating new bugs, the town screen freezes, the black screen, the (usual) bad ...do I need to continue?

So many things have hurt the game, have angered the fans. I've seeing a lot of people swearing they won't buy another Ubisoft game. Game is dead for a lot of people, I simply don't see a chance to recover those fans with this game.

The best is waiting for a HVII announce and hope both devs & Ubi hear the VIPs this time.

Not gonna happen. If a second game does come it will simply add content instead of gameplay evolution.

Heroes VI should die already. Too long agony just so the morons from Ubisoft can squeeze some extra cash. As for Heroes VII - the only thing that will make me even consider buying it will be the absence of Ubisoft's logo on it.

Do you really think that things will change with Heroes VII? It will be the whole Heroes VI story all over again: new "ambitious" studio, rushed development, silence, apologies, rage etc... (hope I'm wrong though)

Heroes VI is at least at the end of it's optimization process (additionally, it's a sad tendency, almost every new game released nowadays has multitude of bugs). We've seen expansions that rebuilt entire skill systems, added new, big features etc, so why not? Expansions that were released years after the vanilla game came out. In my country Heroes games still have a strong position, and even with all those negative comments, SoD will have a wealth of buyers. For instance, the weak "Pirates" DLC, given it's bad opinion, even beat Diablo III taking the first place in sales for one week. That's how strong and popular the franchise is in my country (Poland).

I don't know if they'll change, but there are chances that it will. Ubisoft probably is aware of all the mad and anger comments of many fans, they don't have as many room of failure as with H5&H6. But, what's more important, as it has been stated before, communication between Ubisoft and VIPs fans has improve a lot, so there's hope they'll do more things right next time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that H7 is going to be perfect. I believe that people should inform of the state of a game before buying it, in order to avoid disappointments.

Quote:

Because it has been stated thousands of times that it's impossible to make such changes, or it requires too much money to do so (and Ubi won't put that many money on H6).

The key problem in H6 is the fact that it lost the original developer after the game was released. And that's huuuge. Add to it that the game wasn't well programmed, and that's deadly. That is why it took so long to limbic to start releasing patches & fixing bugs, even the patches created new bugs.

I know your country had some success, but for Ubisoft (I think) it isn't enough to put absurd amount of money to make a big expansion.

That's hardly surprising, given that Blizzard had a miniscule retail quota for Eastern Europe.

Both adventure packs were a lot of fun, I wish the original campaigns had been comparable. But a 10 euros pricetag was silly. Much of the rage probably comes from the fact that they did not expand on the game and indeed, if that was the start of a trend to milk fans with dlcs that add a bit here and a bit there, I would be outraged too. But remember that this was a big draught season with the original game severely lacking in content and there was not much more that Limbic could do under the circumstances. And I bet Marzhin played a big role in this as he had long wanted to make a campaign with Crag and Sandro But more importantly I believe it was a move to buy time till a proper addon was introduced.

Jeez Louise, I was only asking a question...
I'm just going to assume that these DLC character portrayals are vastly inferior to the original series and never mention them again, okay?

Back to talking about Poland and releases.

So caching up with the news got to say theres nothing in Dungeon Faction remotely interesting for me to much purple and i found nothing attractive in it, if they had also introduced the Mages now that would have been sweet but dungeon is no near a favorite of mine... so is a definitely skip + another reason called uplay, but coming on to the latest posts in the thread for me Heroes 6 is mediocre product some god ideas hampered by buggy game and some broken gameplay, but I could have lived with it if it weren't for the Uplay platform which is ... wait for it a DRM and a lame one full of issue that can be exploited, to ones that hamper your possibility of actually playing the games it manages, seriously I had to do a full system reinstall because the accursed thing refused to start and no known fix could solve it. So I'm not saying that I'm not going to buy any game from Ubisoft or that they ruined the franchise because for me is more important to see them trying new things of which some might work some not but I expect only that the next one doesn't repeat the mistakes, but I can honestly say I will avoid as much as possible the uplay platform even if it means not buying any game that uses it. I hope Ubi will give it up but that is highly unlikely.

Sorry, couldn't avoid it

On a serious note, in FB comments you either find absurd fanboys who praise anything Ubi post, or absurd haters who says "H3 is the best, this is snow". (there's also reasonable people, but the two big groups are those).
