Mytical:
Quote: A business will pay as little as it can, and get away with it.
Sometimes "as little as it can" is still a lot. It depends on the workers' productivity.
Xerox:
By "imported goods", I don't necessarily mean electronics. It could mean food or medicine.
And you're right about the "brain drain" phenomenon.

And you claimed that there is no way to measure how much effort a worker spends on a task so the labour can be objectively evaluated as a resource. Seems like you're pretty confused about all this stuff.

It is measured by employers' willingness to pay for whatever the worker is doing, and by the workers' willingness to accept that wage. It's not about effort, but the (expected) result.

Sounds like some anecdote. If everybody is willing to do something, then the economy is flourshing, no matter if thay are actually doing something. I guess people should be glad that nobody is employing such mysticism in practice.

The main problem of the economy as a science is that it's susceptible to ideological influences (unfortunately no economic theory is completely sterile in this regard). Don't confuse mvass' jabber for economy though - the libertarians are the only ones who believe that their "theories" make any sense while the reality laughs at them all the time. The sad part is that the same crap is being taught at the universities like it is actually worth studying.

Economics can be approached scientifically, but there are too many variables to control and it's too susceptible to idealogical biases to have any specific predictive power.

Worse than physics better than psychiatry.
But most of it is just stating the obvious. Or so we rational people would like to think but looking at this thread it seems we better fall back to marketing principles: don't think what's rational and what you'd do, the public is irrational and stupid.

The minimum wage is the arbitrary limit set by the state by which a a natural person should earn no less than that in order to sustain her/him-self.
Point is, with illegal workers that limit is just a limit for the people who work for that type of wages as the employer might be more interested to employ illegal workers who work for less ,if the employer is ready to take the risk...

By principle because mimimun wage is bad or because it is too high? (That is 15$ by year 2022)
I don't know if the number is correct but California seems to be the beacon of hope in America still. You should not have to work 3 jobs to pay your rent.

Beacon of hope? I wouldn't live in California for anything. And raising the minimum wage by 50% or more is certainly not going to do anything to ease the burden on the poor, even though politicians like to pretend it will. By artificially setting the dollar value of labor, you drastically reduce the buying value of the dollar. Beyond that, it will probably incentivize businesses to cut back on employees, employee hours, or even replace jobs with automation - and guess which jobs are most easily replaced with machines?
