Greg Fulton said: Science fiction is the foundation of the Might and Magic universe. It is the reason the Might and Magic universe exists. At its core, the Might and Magic is about advanced civilizations who have descend into barbarism. If you disagree, your reasoning is emotional, not logical. Many people forget the Inferno is not populated by demons. It's populated by aliens who look like demons. If I told you the origin of the Arch Angels I'm sure many of you would have a heart attack.

My name is Erwan Le Breton, Might & Magic Content Director at Ubisoft.
The world used as a background for the Might & Magic games has often changed from one title to the next (Varn, Cron, Terra, Xeen and then Axeoth with Enroth, Erathia, Jadame, Cheh'dian, etc.)
There's an awful lot of backstory, culture and history in the world we've created, and we want to give you a chance to explore it. This is, of course, another way of saying we want to share all of the cool stuff we've been coming up with, because, well, it's cool and we're just naturally both a couple of show-offs. It's still cool, though. Honest.
Let us say that it's time for Dorothy to ride the dark whirlwind and leave the gentle light-hearted fantasy of Axeoth behind.
As for Isabel's portrait, well, picture an immaculate apple-blossom frozen in its delicate beauty and purity by an early, unnatural, frost, and set to a sharp, metallic twig.
I think that the best praise we could get for this new universe is that it "feels strong and it feels real". All of the different factions have very good reasons to justify their existence and their ongoing struggles with the rival nations. All of the characters have legitimate motivations and credible mindsets.
That's where we're taking you, and the best part is, you'll [sic] gonna ask for more.

I think we need to gather all these Ubisoft's words, about how Ashan and Heroes 6 (with its map editor) will be glorious and better then previous games, and put them somewhere as a warning, that some praises come with too high a price.

Can't remember the Heroes 3 Castle worshiping anything in particular really. Angels were not angels (one of the Might and Magic mysteries) and Monks were... something. One of the tavern hints speculated the Zealots are "beings of pure energy". Just saying.
this is why i do respect h3 so deeply. so original and delicious.

I believed the monks to have recently started worshipping the Angels, seeing them as some form of divine intervention but I guess I was wrong.
They angels themselves may be androids like Korak.
Regardless, the first human faction to be named Haven was in H4.

Some thoughts after re-reading the entire thread:
1) I will admit, I do kinda like the edited non-snow variation.
2) A possible edit change... swapping the positions of the town portal and the justicar tower?
3) For all the edits and redos of the Haven screen, I'm quite surprised at the lack of Academy townscreen edits.

You guys seem to complain a lot about the 2D townscreen, but not a single well tough out argument was made. I think it is very functional and appealing to the eye. The buildings are easy to access, We can clearly see all of them, it will just take some time to recognise them all, once we have that under our wing so to speak it will be easy as 2+2. This is about the functionality, the artwork could use some improvement though. Like the angle at which we can see the city grow. Love it!

How's that for well thought-out arguments.

First of all, I don't find many people here crying for 3D-townsreens.
Secondly, we want TOWNscreens. H5 in that regard was the best in the franchise.
No one here (or point me to this person) complains about actual artwork, only about colors, building placing and severe lack of any civilian buildings.

Now now, let's not get carried away here.
Inferno was one building, Necropolis consisted of a bunch of spikes, Sylvan was just a big tree and Dungeon & Fortress were holes.

Indeed. Individually, all of the buildings (if somewhat mis-labeled) are competent enough, same with H4.

I never said people were crying about 3D mate, dont make false accusations, I said the artwork could use some improvements, not sure why you are saying it again?? And what do civilian buildings have to do with functionality, thats just bonkers mate. Not hearing any real arguments :{

Thing thing about buildings being easy to access is a little bull tho, you'll have to admit.
The stairs are thrice the size of a regular man.
