best TS so far; only because a necro town can get away with having no dwellings.

they really should show these off with some ui elements, so everything doesnt look crammed into the middle arbitrarily.

obvious town-codes going on with town screens.

*gates
*surroundings of town
*camera angle and point
*mountain-like ground

they still think coding is a good think.

not enough lessons learned from h6.

h1 had the basics down with townscreens. simple and to the point.

h2 improved the basic concept with a bit more atmosphere and more things to build.

h3 improved even more with a strong sense of personality for each faction along with civilian buildings to make things feel like towns.

h4 improved with seasonal/environmental differences depending on where the town was even if the towns themselves were sub-par.

h5 improved some screens even more with 3d and vast cities with roads and many civilian and "unimportant" buildings that didn't necessarily add to the game but rather to atmosphere.

h6 removed every improvement made and h7 seems to follow it's tracks.

Up to h5 every game added something new to town screens. Something to enjoy and make the towns feel more unique or alive. why did that stop? I think we need an answer to this more than anything. Why are town screens not seen as important anymore?

Elementary. My dear Kiryiu133.

It is because, the majority of the players do not invest in good or better PCs.

So, obviously, these early in video tech. players keep complaining about a game that keeps crashing as soon as they try to enter the TS.

Or, their PCs are so badly configured that even the latest in computer specs will, still, not work to their optimum levels.

Also, that is why Microsoft has designed + made Windows 8.x in such a way that the new owner of such advanced PC tech. will, automatically, have its machine fully prepped in a proper configuration.

Plus, too many of these players do not, regularly, update their video and sound cards' device drivers(packaged software that helps even further at configuring, to your own tastes, your personalized optimum levels of both sound and video hardware).

Nope. Not at all.

What makes this picture better are darker colours, fog and various households, not legs removing.

Legs are needed, otherwise this Arachnopolis will lost its meneace... not to mention about buildings placed on them. Buildings from where you can look at little poeple down there, who will join your ranks sooner or latter, while you are high above them.

Problem with Arachnopolis are not legs but again, not having places to live for citizents (Necropolis is not only skeletons and zombies town but also town of acolytes, necromancers and other still living servants of Spider Godess) and building dropped from the sky on random locations. This is even more viible on middle platform, where one building was dropped in the center of stairs leading to the top, while perfectly fitting there levitating building is placed in very corner of ziggurat.

Also - there is problem with town walls again - they covert nearly all city entrance area this time but they are built... in one line, while terrian is more preffeable to build walls on curve diagram.

It's also fun to imagine the whole temple-complex just up and walking off.

As a townscreen it ain't bad.. It just doesn't feel all that like a town of sorts, but rather as an overgrown temple (pyramid or ziggurat  if you would"). I guess that without the Spider Legs, with bigger buildings that actualy connect with each other and some mausoleums here and there it would be awesome.

And i expand my thoughts. Vampires are the Lords of Necropolis. No need to have only one building in a specific place to the town screen. Maybe 3-4 estates at various places would be better visually and logically, i mean each town can have up to 3-4 nobles to function.

Liches are spell casters, researchers and the sorts, so, having a big university like building with towers, and chambers here and there would be better.

Spider dwelling should not be jut at one point but spiderwebs here and there around the city.

The skeletons can be recruited from a specific workshop, but that doesn't mean that tombstones and mausoleums can't be around as visual decor.

How is the angle odd? It's simultaneously facing the front while also being angled to the side and looking down so that nothing important is hidden behind obstructions. You can see the buildings behind the gate, for example, whereas a more level or forward-facing angle would have hidden them.

They certainly seem to like the idea of bits of the towm being way out, almost (and sometimes actually) unconnected to the rest of the town. f.e. those buildings on the far left are on separate peaks without apparent stairs or bridges.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but all 3 revealed townscreens - sorry, MOscreens - have this odd angle Avirosb mentioned. Even H6 had more diversity. Seriously, look at them, it's like they're drawn by one and the same man using one and the same method.
