Yep, I had some fun making my townscreen for my Foundations ICTC proposal, seen below:

And other two or three images, of the flock of birds silhouette, the Sea of Monsters Hippocampus concept art, and the sky at the background.
It's a very pleasurable thing doing these things when wondering how they would be implemented in the game.

The wasted space on the sides *might* be to accomodate for people with screens with different aspect ratios. If your screen is closer to 4:3 rather than 16:9, it might be the game cuts the space on the sides to make it fit.
I don't think it's about the ratio because let's just say somebody has computer which fullfils at least minimum configuration of HVII but he has monitor with 4:3 aspect ratio ? 
and Stronghold TS has buildings on the sides of the screen 
so most likely that was the 'vision' of the 'artist' who made Haven, Necro and Academy TS, then they told him what to make differently and Stronghold, Sylvan and Dungeon TS will be better in the game

I have a similar feeling. In such a way townscreens for Dungeon and Sylvan will be the best ones, which would certainly be good.

Well if the Stronghold townscreen is what they came up with after our feedback from the first townscreens, then the game is doomed.

please, we knew from the start the townscreens would be one of the snowtiest part of the game.

May I inquire why the word 'snow' is stained for the use of foul things? When I first saw it here, I thought pretty odd until getting used to it.

Did we? We knew from the start they would be 2D, but that doesn't mean they have to look like ... snow, does it?

I prefer town windows.
If they are gonna look this bad, let them atleast be small. Now my whole screen is covered with this snow, instead of just a small portion of it 
(just joking - I don't mind townscreens at all - they look bad, but I spend at average 1,2 seconds looking at the picture, everytime I wisit town)

Honestly, that idea is downright scary. Not everyone is good at everything and the more the people, the harder it becomes to agree on anything. Even amongst experienced H5 players it was nigh impossible to agree on the simplest balancing issues and those of you that remember the ubi H5 wishlist, it was a jumbled mess of random suggestions most of which made little sense or rhyme. We all have our ideas of what the series should be but what is good for me might not be good for you and vice versa.

If you put five or more fans (from this or any other fan forum) together in a room and tell them to come up with common idea for any part of heroes you will find a room full of bloody bodyparts.
Each person here thinks he knows whats best for heroes and that his idea is the best in all the universes in existence. Ever.

well, considering the first thing we got was that god-awful haven thing and then academy as well as early knowledge about the townscreens not being a priority... yeah, lesser quality was a given. 2D has nothing to do with it.

Well, I sincerely believe that brainstorming sessions between dedicated fans would prove a lot more constructive than whatever conferences they have at Ubisoft. Even on this forum there are a lot of good ideas which would improve the game, you don't have to look far to see that. Surpassing ELB's vision isn't exactly a feat.

Well, I don't. As I said, (and I'm proved right every time I take a glance at blog or any fan forum) you can't find five people that would be completely satisfied with any idea.
