Heroes 7 Wiki - Complete Game Information

I'm pleased to announce the opening of the Might & Magic Heroes 7 Wiki!

DATABASES ON THE WIKI:

Screenshots

Artworks

Articles

Videos

OTHER NOTABLE CONTENT:

Heroes 7 Campaign Storyline

Detailed Creatures Pages: Academy, Haven

Town Buildings Pages: Academy, Haven

Heroes Pages: Academy, Haven

Visit the wiki for more info about factions and creatures.

ABOUT THE WIKI:

The aim of the wiki is to collect the available Might & Magic Heroes VII information and to present it in an informative and easy to read format. This is the key difference of our project - to make presentable and useful MMH7 info pages, not just a 'garbage dump' of all available Heroes VII information.

Anyone can contribute, and your contribution is recorded in the history of any page that you edit. Top contributors can also be awarded with Quality Points on Heroes Community.

If you'd like to join the project, visit the editing help page. You can log into the wiki with your HC account and begin creating or editing pages straight away.

You can access the Wiki using the 'Heroes 7' link on Age of Heroes or by using the 'wiki' link next to 'MMH7' in the header of most pages on Heroes Community.

If you are an HC Supporter, you can browse the wiki without any ads - just log in to the wiki with you HC account.

Thanks

I think I want to attempt an Edit on the "Community Engagement" part and make it resemble more my Shadow Council stickied thread. Basically get all the info there as well as keeping it updated.

Would that be ok?

Sure, go ahead. Post here if you have any questions about editing and I'll help out.

General idea is to always use "preview" until you've finished all the changes, and only then "save". This makes the page revision log very easy to follow.

Added Shadow Council section, need to get used a bit with the editing.

I'll probably edit your "Current Polls" and "Past Polls", Val. Also, I'll add some thoughts on the importance of voting and some other links. Do you mind?

Feel free to edit my texts. I'll let you know if I have any objections.

The good thing about a wiki is that all past versions of the page are saved (under history link on each page), so anything that was changed can be brought back if needed.

In your (good) efforts to add the Wiki for Heroes 7, did you just nuke the Forum link on the main page (Age of Heroes)? Where originally I clicked on the link to find the forums, there's now a button for the Heroes 7 wiki. Imagine my surprise when I ended up in the wiki instead of the forums ... .

I actually had to use a workaround to get to the forums now.

I presume there's no chance then of getting a H1-H5 style page rather than a wiki?

Yes, I've changed the AOH header menu today and removed the "Forums" link on the right to make space for the "Heroes 7" link. I've decided to do this because I didn't want to make the text smaller to fit everything into one line, and because there's already an entire section dedicated to HC on the second half of the AOH main page.

The quickest way now is probably to roll the mouse wheel down and click the HC logo above the angel's biceps On my large screen I don't even need to scroll.

EDIT:

I've chosen to go with a wiki because the effort involved in creating a standalone info section is immense. Realistically I will not have enough motivation and time to do it these days. The benefit of the wiki is also that it can involve the entire community and the resulting section can go beyond the efforts of myself and a few individuals - we can have a hundred or more people contributing.

We've already tested this system with MMH6 wiki, but I've launched it too late, when most of the interest in the game already died. Despite this there are still some great results. The sortable creature lists and dynamic skill tool integration for example.

So for MMH7 we're starting nice and early this time, using all the learning experience obtained with the MMH6 wiki.

You could award some QPs for some quality editing to encourage more effort. People would flock. Just sayin'

Also, can you please teach me how to upload pictures and how to put them on the sides?

Edit: Figured it out myself.

I hope people join and help on the wiki - it's always easier when you're not alone

@Val: I'll make another news item at the end of the week about the wiki and other H7 news, I hope that's okay for you

I don't need to scroll either, but I never saw it before . I guess I never needed it, until now. But since I was forced to make a change there anyway, I simply bookmarked the main forum page as well .

With regards to QPs for significant and long term contributors on the wiki - that is certainly doable. We will have to keep in mind not to double-QP people for posting similar content on both AOH and HC though.

Nice work on the Community Engagement page I like the extra detail.

Few suggestions for even further improvement:
- It would be good to simplify the heading structure, should be possible to have only 2 levels of headings on that page instead of 3.
- The community engagement heading and paragraph can be removed or incorporated into Shadow Council.
- Open Dev concept needs to be explained in layman's terms.

Looks like you've figured out the images. I'm quite curious to try out the gallery tag when we get to artworks.

SG, I'd like to make a separate announcement myself about the wiki and HC updates, will probably do it in the next few days or so. But feel free to post other H7 news whenever.

The page is structured very nicely now

Good explanation of open dev too. The thing to watch out for when explaining a term is not to explain it with other terms that people might not understand Next time you're editing the page I suggest replacing 'Vanilla' with 'the release version of the game' or something similar.

In other news I've announced the Wiki on AOH and implemented more information into Game Features page. I'd welcome help on this - the list is pretty comprehensive now but if some known facts are missing go ahead and add them in with a reference.

Edit: came up with a nice template with clickable artworks for the creatures pages. Demo is on the Haven Creatures page. Will probably convert the rest of the page tomorrow.
