11 years of HC
This time I missed my anniversary date by over two weeks, but no matter. I've been here for over 11 years now, which means that I've spent nearly half of my life as an HC member. I think I've been less active recently, partially because of RL stuff, partially because there haven't been many interesting OSM debates recently. But this year I've finally become Responsible and cast off the scourge of Floodprotect, and surpassed 10000 posts, both of which feel like milestones. As far as important things I've posted this year go, I started an interesting discussion about free speech. I think I also wrote some posts in the Love thread (and may do so again soon). My favorite thread this year is probably this one, though it was ruined by a certain uncooperative poster. 
How was your year, HC? What do you think about everything that's happened since last October?

Life sucks but not on a level of committing suicide. And of course, I'm still smarter than everyone I've ever met except Ghost but that's just a matter of statistics and statistics also suck, so I make sure I never suck Ghost like xerox would suck him.

The forum is better than it was in 2013 but still not as good as what it was in 2008-2010.

Obviously, a lot has happened on the M&M side.
MMX Legacy was actually really good.
MMH 7 is on it's way.
Bunch of new members due to that.
More importantly, bunch of old ones seem to be popping up here and now, I'm a sucker for nostalgia.
We still haven't managed to get a solid RPG going on though. A couple good ones, but no huge triumphs.
Other games is still pretty dead.
ll in all, a good one for HC?

Urgh I've hit a point in my life where I'd love to talk, but clueless about what I should say. Survived college with witty one liners and playing the devil's advocate with crazy arguments. It was always priceless to see everyone's face, that simply translated to "wtf... quite sure if serious".
Once I get a nice solid understanding of Uni atmosphere it should be fine.

How was your year, HC?
Well you asked; The most freakin difficult of my life.
* My chief medicine became my poison
* The rest of my other medicines became poisons.
* My good Doc was forced into retirement and replaced with a statistical nightmare that has a human head.
* A malfunction that was corrected 27 years ago has resurfaced, just to add to the fun.
* All that I bothered to write plus "a lot that I have not", has all merged into the most trying time of my life.
I thought I was strong before...now I have to become Superman...to smile. TG, I can sometimes but others...well no. Pain is painful. 
However, if I take a deep breath, it's just one more cup, that's a little more difficult to sip.

Heroes Community was a Heroes Community for me 2008-2010 because of the periodic H5 tournaments I participated in. I kept hanging out afterwards just because I knew a lot of people, but it's not as awesome when you're not coming here at least partially for Heroes related reasons. I don't have any desire to involve myself in H5 anymore or the older games, and H6 was an uninspiring TBS. It really hangs on what they can pull off in H7.
Also I just remember a lot of bad things from 2013. Drakon/MasterLearn were at the peak of their blitzkrieg, Noobx was making painful attempts to show his maturity, Ghost was at full spam levels, a lot of good posters - such as me - were semi-inactive, H7 was still a distant idea and H6 was busy being H6. Just not a good year. 2014 has been a significant improvement.
2013 was the HC equivalent of the 90s.

90's was a pretty fine decade, we had met the internet, cinema put out some solid classics and music got much better than that nuanceless, soulless synthesizer crap or puberty smelling heavy metal of the 80's, which is definitely the worst decade of the century. Even the hair styles alone is enough to completely wish to block it out.

The only good thing about the 90s were some mighty fine video games.
90s = Mexican drug cartel invasion, rap, wearing ballcaps backwards (eyes are located in the front of your head; visor should be there too), violent crime at its peak in the States, punk music, and people wearing pants that are three sizes too large for them.
1990s = terrible. 1990s is like taking milk that has been in the frig for a month and making a milkshake.
1980s were awesome. You better respect. There is nothing ostentatious about making your hair look like a cat and wearing glitter, or saying "bodacious". I secretly wish I could use words like that without sounding weird.
1990s is when the internet first went into force, but it wasn't until the 2000s that it got mega huge and awesome, so I attribute the internet more to the 2000s. The only great thing about the internet in the late 90s was battle.net.

Just last week I was rewatching the old H5 replays uploaded to youtube by Swamplord.
Then I pestered Elvin about it and made threats towards H7 that it better bring back my monthly tournies.
wow it's been 3 years already and I'm still more or less here ^^

I miss Jinxer too. He's one of those people that I loved to hate.

I agree that the best period of HC was 2008-2010, when this actually was a thriving HEROES Community. The H5 forums were very active with the duel tournaments and a lot of exciting modding. H5 also really inspired so much creativity in the Altar of Wishes forum. I loved the faction creation contests, which is what got me into HC initially. I miss a lot of the old posters like Asheera and Nightterror. As for myself, I believe I was a newcomer then and had not yet reached the destructive spamming crusade I initiated during my Xerdux period.
I really hope H7 will create a spiritual ressurection of the 2008-2010 years.
