I have a few ideas: let Sandro triumph and retcon away the previous three games with the Void, or have Sareth release Sovereign to murder all the elemental dragons so we can have a better magic system lol

Please, it's as if Ashan's existence itself is related to any of that and the old universe is The Messiah. I actually think that Ashan has a bit better atmosphere than earlier settings and things you describe are subjective at best.

We're here to discuss ideas, so don't turn this into another "we hate Ashan" thread, please.

Oh, you want ideas eh? Well then, what do you think of having protagonists with an average IQ above 40? How about having a real plot that's not about what happens in the Holy Empire next? How about an actual sense of exploration of the world? What do you think of having characters that are not all infatuated with themselves, but actually have a persuasive reasoning behind their actions? What about a story telling that doesn't make you facepalm each and every time you see a cutscene? How does that sound to you?

My idea for the Fortress expansion would allow for something like this - focus is placed on political troubles within Dwarven nation, caused by the Nethermancers and on an intelligent, young mage who attempts to stop Sandro from destroying the world, saving every being that originated in it from non-existence.

Try reading through with it, maybe. Unless you're too bothered by some imaginary problems, like the name of the setting.

I believe Biara to be older that this, so it wouldn't fit here... That is, unless we again have Biara tell a story from the past to someone, but that'd be a bit awkward. A scenario from the past, without a narrator would be more fitting, kinda the way most Heroes V scenarios were. It's my headcanon that Biara became a succubus prior to the Third Eclipse and was one of the most prominent assassins when it comes to finding Hidden Houses and slaughtering Dragon Knights within. It could after this that Kha-Beleth noticed her exploits and raised her to a quite high rank.

Odds are any dlc or xpack story wont be bound to the main campaign story.

It's exactly focusing on the important historical events in the timeline that I want - Heroes VI would be so much better if we had two campaigns playing as Tuidhana, one as an Elf, one as a Dark Elf. Holy Empire's invasion on her lands could be used for Haven campaign and have a Knight loyal to Liam Falcon wonder about his loyalty.

as much as i'd like that i doubt it

I decided to post this idea here as well:

I'd like to see the Gold dragons of Ashan, children of Elrath - purer, holier and more righteous than Angels themselves. I picture them as extremely rare and I imagine that Angels would try to protect them by any means necessary. That being said, I wonder what would happen if such a dragon disagreed with or condemned Angelic cause... It'd be rather intriguing.

___

Should we make a list of ideas in the OP, by the way?

I'd actually enjoy it if the dragons aren't so happy with the angels. There's a reason they aren't in the faction: what if they literally hate the holier-than-thou attitude of the angels, which lead to needless wars against the faceless? They may not like them, but they certainly don't like the angels, or their pawns (the humans). Their fanatical beliefs make a mockery of their actual way of life and their father, Elrath.

So they're a pure neutral, only teaming up with others if a situation truly called for it.

I think it would be cool if we recruited gold dragons in H7 in the way Genies were recruited in H1 and H2. Like gold dragon eggs or a nest of them can be on the adventure map so you get a few of them but not an endless production through a dwelling.

More ideas, this time about another familiar face in Ashan:

Mutare, a renegade Dragon Knight of Arkath.

She bravely served the Dragon Knight order and embraced its philosophy of self-discovery, but once her training was completed she felt restrained by the order's strict rules. She eventually left the order and went her own way, led by her personal ambition.

Inspired by an offhand commend by one of the Shadow Council members.
She does not sound like a character that would become relevant in anything to Heroes VII though - it would be best if she appeared post-Dark Messiah.

Sandro does actually mention there are other worlds spinning in the Void in Danse Macabre, and he wants to go to them if he can murder a god,
so is it possible we can legitimately use that hook to go to those worlds instead of this one? lol

Since the post limit got me, we had a talk about it using the messenger.

___

Sligneris:
"Urgh... I can't answer this in the thread.

I'm not sure if I can answer that question - what do you mean exactly by this statement?"

Kiryu:
"she turns into a dragon. not sure that would fly in ashan."

Sligneris:
"Actually, that would fit very well with Ashan - the most skilled Dragon Knights are capable of transforming into a dragon. Examples of that include Cate from Heroes VI and several Dragon Knights from Heroes Online.

So there's no problem with that, and the fact that the change is not permanent is in this situation pretty minor - it's supposed to be a tribute after all, not an exact recreation."

Kiryu:
"you missunderstand. she starts out obsessed with dragons, collects (and recruits) a bunch creating an army of most (if not all) types of dragons and the gets a vial and turns into one permanently. she literally becomes a dragon warlord. she's not a shapeshifter. her intire identity lies in her turning into a (and commanding an army of) dragon(s). considering ashans dragons only exists in some sort of tandem with their gods and mutare very explicitely collects all kinds to follow her...

but i guess it could work in some future where dragons are no longer affiliated maybe. just unsure an Ashan mutare would do her justice, probably better to with another name."

Sligneris:
"Hmn... You have a point. Dragons of Ashan are children of gods. They are mostly sentient and wise, and wouldn't follow just anyone - she would need to have traits they would appreciate. Out of all the Dragons in Ashan, I can imagine only Fire and Shadow dragons following her... Possibly Earth and Water if she could prove herself honorable, but she's not very monk-like, so I doubt it... Still, binding the rest to her will would require immense power, and would be a monstrous heresy.

...I actually think it's pretty cool. Considering she was formerly part of the Dragon Knight order, she would be a kind of a fallen hero. In order for her to stay truer to the original she could also find a way to stay in her dragon form nearly permanently, turning back into a human when she thinks it necessary.

I think I like it "

___

I still think that we should use something like this as a cool reference, rather than copy exact plotlines, but what do you guys think?

i do really like it, but it''s important that Mutare (if they use that name) does not retain the ability to turn humanoid. Her going off the deep end, losing control off her shapeshifting powers (or better steals from a dragon knight) while conquering and subjugating all the dragon species of Ashan would make a damn amazing campaign. probably would work better than the h3 one, which i felt fell a bit flat for kinda wasting cool potential and in hypothetical h8 we would also get to fight against her since she would undoubtedly be the biggest bad because, you know, enslaving dragons or whatever.

kinda really want that but i'm not sure they would make the transforming bit justice. it really needs to be a mad search for power with no way of going back (but she sure as hell shouldn't complain about that).

More expansion packs. A better spell system. More neutrals. All the factions in one game. Those are the things that Stubisoft won't do. What we really can expect-more bugs, a bad system of...everything and more green. A lot more green. Also, one expansion with Inferno, since all our stories are built around Inferno.

Hmn... Should Fortress and Inferno expansions go my way, I'm really not certain if they'd move straight forward to Heroes VIII, post-Dark Messiah, or if there'd be time and place for a Sanctuary expansion. Would people even want it? But if so, what kind of storyline would we see there, when would it be set? What kind of event would led Nagas of the Lotus Empire to intervene?

Any ideas there?

I have a feeling that H7, at best, can only bridge gaps left. It likely won't go beyond H5,and thus DM.

As for Nagas, I don't know. They were rarely talked about for H5, and we really a side character in their own campaign (dumb self centered griffins...) so really, they could do any story they want for Sanctuary, as long as it's actually about Nagas, and not a third party coming to use Nagas for their own gain.
