Overall, my impression is that this game is still riddled with bugs and problems - too many, actually, to make for a stable and solid release in september.

The nature of the bugs I encountered on my playthrough is unsettling; how bugs like the Hero duplication and the mess with Artifacts have been able to skip past UbiSoft's interal Q&A department is almost unbelievable.

Many things I encountered could (and should) have been discovered through unit testing, which is one step below and therefore more basic than functional testing, which in itself is one step below integration testing. These various forms of testing should have been performed before the beta release was given the green light, but I doubt that they actually did that - or at least it hasn't been given the proper time and care it should have had.

I didn't even have a test plan at hand, I was just performing a user test. A well developed test plan has to yield a number of bugs at a serious multiplication factor higher than what I already found while only scratching the surface.

My general conclusion is that this version is somewhere between alpha and beta stage and therefore not truly worthy of the beta label it has been given. Given the amount of work that's yet to be done to shape it up for a solid release, I'd seriously recommend UbiSoft to push back the suggested release date of september towards the end of the year, possibly even to the start of next year.

Yeah there is certainly promise (the game design changes that I'd like them to implement are generally not hard to program, they are just decisions to be made), but the state it currently in is definitely not beta.  Traditionally betas are feature-complete, and this is far from that, in addition to the absolute ridiculous number of bugs.  These kinds of games can be very tricky to logically code because there are so many parts that interact with each other and a lot of content and rules, so it is unsurprising at the number of bugs, but I can't see any way they can deliver a bug-minimal game by september, that sounds crazy.

I feel bad for the devs who are probably in a really awful crunch mode for the next several months

I 'll just quote ubi-nox from shadow council saying that they are still confident they will deliver at september...
Either they have an ace up their sleeves or they are trolling us.

Well they did say that the version delivered for Beta was not the actual most recent version [which makes sense, because I guess some special coding was necessary for the beta to account for the fact that only two factions were in it], but I do agree with the rest here, with the overwhelming amount of bugs and performance issues, it seems likely that a delay in release will be the best solution. Also, they can push back two months from september and still be out in time for christmas sales ...

Well, when I got my key, it took me about 15 mins to make my first turn, because I managed to witness right about every bug: horses facing sideways, heroes disappearing, heroes as floating rectangles, town screen bugs, level up crashing the game, etc. I guess by now those who say we are happy people to have tested the beta out have realized how wrong they are

P.S. Ubi will never do such a thing It would not bring them profit... Big companies know it's better if the game comes out a month or two before the sales... That said, it's Ubi, so heaven knows what will spark in their heads.

In Poland we say "Hope is the mother of fools." After AC: Bugity, Watchdogs and  Heroes. Vi it should have been obvious for Ubisoft that releasing disfunctional games is wrong but it seems that their learning process is sluggish at least... Or that Heroes VII will truly be playable at the release but I highly doubt in that. Miracles happen, so who knows...

Here is my list of bugs :

- upgraded gargoyles are immune to damage spells where it is written that they take 50 % dmg

- cabirs can`t ressurect golems/gargoyles when the top creature is at maximum hp

-opportunism and coordinated effort don`t always give morale to the next creature in the ini bar.

-flying creatures turn in all directions when flying

As I'm told, your arranged creatures in the tactic phase is not remembered for next combat...I don't even have the game yet I feel to request this feature.

this problem still seems not solved !   how can this be after patch 1.8

Also, on this window it says "tactics_banner_text"  which does not seem to belong there....

Well, it's a little more complex than that: battlefield size is the crucial factor here. If the width of the battlefield changes, the game flushes out your lineup. Instead of just placing it within the alloted space, the game simply seems to wipe the slate clean. Which is annoying, I admit.

You'll see that it remembers the layout when you fight consecutive battles on the same battlefield background.
