Roland & Archibald campaigns for HotA

Hello everybody, I recently recreated original HoMM2 Roland and Archibald campaigns. I don't know if anybody did that before me, I searched but didn't found anything. Hope you like it

Roland campaign:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ir3k65ph24qz0o/Roland.zip?dl=0

Archibald campaign:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/f1nwekx65q5e6rj/Archibald.zip?dl=0

I've left out only 1 version of the campaigns:
- version with some HoMM3 features like starting heroes (Corlagon, Crag Hack, Alamar, Halon, Gem and Lord Halton) go with you to the next scenarios and keep their levels and spells. It doesn't matter if they die though (Corlagon and Lord Halton are the exceptions in most scenarios).

All campaigns have selectable difficulty

It was impossible to recreate the decisions from HoMM2, you have to do all missions. I also couldn't give specific towns as starting choices in the campaign.

I've tested those scenarios and they should be doable, although some of them are harder than the rest.

There are also optional portraits of Archibald, Roland pre Armageddon's blade and Corlagon for those that want more immersion. They are in the folder "data" and must be placed inside your HoMM3 "data" folder.

If you have any questions, or any kind of feedback, leave it here.

Otherwise, enjoy!

Thank you very much for this work. I'll try it.

The Roland and Archibald campaigns were really something.

No problem, I also have good memories with them.

The Roland campaign is almost finished, one map to go and then some testing.

I cannot answer that, if you are interested in creating your own HotA campaign, you must ask HotA team to help you do it.

They asked because you state the campaign is for Hota. I guess you meant to say Heroes 3.

Because it is for HotA, some of the maps have HotA objects, one of the examples: the newest 1.4.0 "Ancient Lamp" that allows you to recruit Master Genie.

I've already said it. I'm unable to help you with that. You must ask someone form HotA team to help you

Hey, I'm at final map, but why Archibald is Necromancer not Warlock? Next Time Disable Dimension Door and Fly from Mage Guilds, I got them with both Alamar and Corlagon. My Alamar was able to defeat Warlocks in Mission Dragon Master in One Week with Exp. DD, TP and Ressurection.

Archibald is Warlock in the Vanilla version of the campaign if I'm not mistaken. I changed his class in the other, mostly because of the official retcon. He was proficient at necromancy from the start, taught Corlagon how to raise the dead and after HoMM3 Restoration of Erathia was appointed as the king of Dejia and their Necromancers guild during Might & Magic 7 story. IMHO it's more fitting for him to be Necromancer.

I think you are right about the Dimension Doors and Fly, I will probably disable them in the future and reupload the campaign, but right now I'm mostly testing Roland's campaign, and want to upload it as quickly as I can

Ah ok. You could swap Archibalds Mystysicm and Ballistics with more useful skills like 2nd magic school, tactics, off/armo or use Sandro ID and give him Sorcery Specialty.

I have updated the first post with Roland campaign. I have tested it and there should be no problems. Last map was actually kinda hard for me... ;P

I didn't want Archibald to be too strong but I'll reconsider that.

Well, he become stronger when you visit all +stats buildings and both strongholds and towers. I defeated using Archibald and army collected from 3 Knights Towns. Accually, both brothers had similar stats, but Archi had all combat spells and my strategy.

Nicely done. I'm curious about your feedback on the second campaign, if you'll want to play it of course

So now 3 missions completed, the challenging was 2nd map with Lord Halton. On small map any hero who has artillery and have Castle Fortifications built can hold enemy from taking it. HotA make towers more stronger and artillery give us option to steer arrow towers. My Christian with Pikeman hold all attacks on Main City. 1st Gem Mission was acctually rush around Ramparts, quite easy to overthrown AI in numbers of Dwarves, just main Rampart was developed for army production rest towns only for spells.

Yeah, 2nd mission could be a bit problematic without a good defense because there are so many ways PC player can attack you. 3rd mission was almost exactly the same as 4th in Archibald's campaign, there are 4 maps total that are nearly identical, so you'll be probably using very similar tactics on them.

If they are hota maps, how did you compile them into campaign format? Hota doesn't have a campaign editor and the sod editor doesn't work on hota maps/campaigns.

Any chance of a version with unlocked difficulty?

I'm unable to to provide you with answer on how to create the campaign, you must ask HotA team for help, just as I did.

I'll create the version with unlocked difficulty as quickly as I can.

Will you do Price of the Loyalty and H1 Campaign for HotA? I recommend for H3 Features disable DD an fly because our heroes carry over between scenarios and with Expert Air Magic we can spam DD 5 times. Also if i remember dwarves towns couldn't develop to max. Only main City(Rampart/Dungeon should provide as with full army production). Also map with collecting troops for Rolanx/Archibald all neutral towns except the one close to Enemy should have disable building fort like in Vanilla. I think you should either rise a bit difficulty or unlock ability to change it. Hard is optimal for 3 starting scenarios and Final One on Impossible, as enemy use all strengh to last stand against us.
