Shivaz I wish you good luck with your project. Everyone must start somewhere, you can't know it all from the start, so maybe you will produce something or maybe it will just stay as ideas, but don't get discouraged.
If there could be a Forge town and a town with vegetables for cryin out loud, I don't see why there could'nt be an alien town, just don't expect to make it in a week.

Yes of course I don't except it'll be done in a week, not even a month
Just the sketch of the creature took me couple of hours, and it's static... so it's a lot of work, maybe it'll not work, who knows.
But I just gave some ideas, and wanted help how to start, and maybe some people can combine forces and create something.
Anyway, I'll keep working on it, thanks for the support buddy

Question guys, I'm trying to animate the creature in After Effects, but it's not working good, the moves are not smooth enough.
Is there some program fom animating HOMM creatures that you're using and can recommend?

This's what I did in AE.

Well, most artists is using free 3D software Blender and use Deftool to convert they animation to file that Heroes can read.

There are lots of predators sprites in MUGEN characters archives or Doom modding projects (http://zdoom.org/).
You can use them as base and improve.

Well, that's simple just name your new files the same name and from the "Edit" menu just scroll down and press the "Add" option. Now if you use ERA, you should make a new .pac file so you can make an ERA mod, but that may be a little bit too advanced for start. Also, don't use Anti-Aliasing in Heroes 3, everything must be in 255 indexed colors.

Defmaker is rather easy MMArchive to. Try to replace one inferno unit. Begin is always hard.
Units im HIII are very small so that mustnt be super graphic style.
Create big model and then minimalize it. Like creators...

Thanks a lot all.
Blender is kinda hard to work with, never worked with it and there's a lot going on there.
I tried demo version of "[url=http://creature.kestrelmoon.com/]Creature Animation[/url]", but something is not working with the animation, maybe cuz it's a demo :

So finally I was able to replace the portraits, not with MMArchive, it didn't work. I just placed the *.pcx files into the DATA folder.
But in the game something is messed with the colors, can't figure it out, what am I missing?

They aren't indexed. You need to index them in 255 colors, otherwise they will show like this.

Can't find how to index them, by index do you mean to replace them in the H3bitmap.lod file?
Cuz I did it, and it does show me the portraits there, but not in the game, only when I place the files inside the DATA folder.



And how do I do Transparency color and check if it's 255 colors? I've saved it as *.BMP and added them with MMArchive.
What is it "Defmaker color panel"?
Is there some post explaining how to do it and what to use, like tutorial? I'm sure i'm doing somthing wrong with it

I mean the palette must be indexed, not RGB or CYMK.

I just missed the Indexed color in PS and used RGB, Thanks a lot guys!



Finally it's working, but only when I place the *.pcx files inside DATA folder, otherwise it's not working in any way I tried.

So, what's the next project? I think I'll try to create some dwelling and replace it, or it's too advanced for me?

Yeah, someone told me it need to be indexed, but I can't figure out how to index them, so I'm just placing them into the DATA folder.
And I'm not using Era, don't like it, I'm using HD+HOTA version.




Anwyay, I was able to change the Town race, and the Hero name and story, but it's working only in the regular HD version, not in HOTA. why is it? Maybe cuz I didn't indexed those TXT files?
