I'm pretty sure this game is gonna be snow.
First, there's the long track record of Ubisoft.
Second red flag is the price. Ubisoft always tries to sell their snow at the highest possible cost. A normal game is 50 $ Can where I live. If that game is sold for 28 $ Can, then we're talking about a lesser game made by a really small company that reuses all models.
Third red flag is how they promote is as a game of pure strategy. Most Heroes players kind of suck at said strategy to be honest. It's going to be one of these "strategy" games with little depth. They just write "strategy game" on the box so plebs think they're so smart cuz they play a "strategy" game. No mention of campaigns? Lost two third of the HOMM community right there.

Frankly, I don't know why the hell anyone would ever include an ingame shop if you aren't seriously planning on monetize the game through microtransactions. Funny business plan: first sell the game to unwary fans in order to fund the petty budget of the game under the promise of no microtransactions ("at this moment"), later turn the game into a free to play (of pay to win) type of game and charge new unwary players (and those fans who did pay in the first place too, if they are stupid enough). Does it sound like Ubi?

It's actually a pretty awesome game.. Played it this morning for about two hours. Glad to see media reacts well to it so far, esp IGN and RPS.
Edit: I think the in game shop is more to emulate the feeling of actually buying a figurine and painting it, etc. Although literally every recent game has micro transactions despite premium price..so sadly it wouldn't surprise me

I kinda like it. But the question is what is ubi really aiming for? To promote and sell figurines? To test waters for a might&magic rts? Or to make games that only require existing models and minimum amount of work?
And honestly, how many of you wouldn't be interested in a decent might&magic rpg? If ubi can make showdown, why not bother making a proper rpg? Last time ubi spent money on models and animations dates back to H6 and since then they have been recycling. How exactly do they hope to draw people's attention and keep them playing? They need a goddamn serious game for a change.
And that is the problem, not whether showdown is passable or not.

Well to be honest they did do some new models and animations for heroes 7 (Sylvan, Fortress, etc). But I have to agree with you here Elvin. To the person like me, who played every single Might and Magic product Ubi produced, the amount of reuse and recycle starts to annoy.. Music, animations.....abilities.. They really need to start investing money into the franchise.
Although I Kind of happy that the work that was originally put into these models can finally be appreciated (and not just colourful dots on zoomed out battlfield).

Just remembered that this game is using uplay which makes my pc lag like hell whenever I exit their games. Enduring even a few minutes of lag just to play showdown? Nope, not likely.

I think that IGNs review is more on point. PC gamers reviewer is obviously talking out of his ...., I played the game and what he says in the review about passively watching the screen and 'there might had been a black bar across as it would change anything' is a complete BS. (After the very first tutorials) I'm not sure whether some people are just not strategically minded and low IQ or if they like to make a judgement without actually playing.

I received a free code for early access around a week ago but I'm not going to inflict myself more harm, h7 "beta" testing was plenty enough.^^
