Creature Quest isn't a heroes game, it's not even a might and magic game. I know you are desperate to prove us "wrong", but besides the creator there is no connection between CQ and Heroes, while Ubi just tirelessly milks the franchise, Spider Guardians is like the 3rd or 4th game in 2 years after Heroes VII.

The fact that these "cashcows" as you call them keep showing up means that for better or worse, Ubisoft still has interest in the franchise and that there is hope for more Heroes titles, and as long as they keep making Heroes games, there's chance they get it right again, like with H5. The point of those cashcows is both make money (which is something most of them apparently fail to do, given how they get cancelled) and keep the name.

I not quite sure what do you mean with the "prove you wrong" thing. Both EG and CQ are cartoonish-looking SW/SML clones but the latter is the one getting called "Creature Quest of Might and Magic" by Galaad lol

Oh please, can't you see the difference? Both games look nothing alike.

I said both look childish, but that doesn't mean they have to look alike. Dora the Explorer doesn't look like My Little Pony yet both look childish, don't you think. Shaming EG for looking childish when you praise a game that ALSO looks childish is the lush part

Obviously. You seem dead set Ashan is the reason Heroes flopped when the truth is gameplay and technical issues in 6-7 what brought them down.

Except I never shamed EG for looking childish, I only said I found it ugly with rather generic looking gameplay.
As for my Creature Quest of Might and Magic thread, I don't see the problem. Yes to me that game just screams Might and Magic all the over place but I'm not forcing anyone to agree with me on that.

And BTW, CQ benefits from a lot of variety, from the cutsies you saw in here to the darker creatures such as this one or even that one.

If it's so irrelevant to Heroes, then why is it so overhyped on Heroes forums on the basis of Heroes creator being involved, whilst it would not really be noticed in the endless sea of mobile games otherwise?

Haven't you noticed that there is a partnership between HC and VC Mobile for advertisements? Have you not seen the advertisements? It's called promoting. The game being created by JVC sure helps though, I won't deny that.

[quote name = Valeriy]I'm happy to announce that HC and AOH now have a sponsor with original HOMM heritage - Creature Quest. Creature Quest is a mobile device game being produced by a team that includes a number of original HOMM visionaries.

Don't get me wrong, I don't know enough about Creature Quest to give it a fair review. But there's some irony in you guys complaining for about a decade that current Might & Magic doesn't have enough edge for you, that it's too childish and not dark enough, that Dungeon and Necropolis don't follow the "always chaotic evil" principle, that it's too gay or whatever...

People have always complained that Heroes lost its fairy tale atmosphere, so what's the surprise here? The thing with Ashan is that's just a try hard, it comes like the dark and gritty world made by some 12-year-old (dragon gods rule all because dragons are badass, necromancers are really just misunderstood anti-heroes, vampires are cool and handsome etc.)

Let's not forget this:

Let us say that it's time for Dorothy to ride the dark whirlwind and leave the gentle light-hearted fantasy of Axeoth behind.

Which Erwinus totally failed to implement.

Don't get me wrong, I'd enjoy a more serious Heroes, which tackles more mature themes like the gruesome reality of war in a fantasy setting, but Ashan isn't the kind of world to support that and neither delivered the kind of stories in that setting.

and then as soon as you hear of a cartoony mobile game that just happens to have that one dude from the old M&M involved, you completely ignore it has the very features you despised, and immediately hail it as a masterpiece. Shows that in the end it's all about the attitude you approach things with, huh?

I was very skeptical of Creature Quest before tbh, I'm always very suspicious of mobile quests. But it has none of the "features" it despised from ubi games. It is very easy to get premium currency without spending money (remember that heroes browser game?). And after you level up a bit and get over the cutesy creatures, you will find creatures that would fit design wise in an Heroes game. While Spider Guardians has that weird vector stylized weird-proportioned creatures that would look ugly outside the setting (not saying the current setting isn't already crappy)

Cashcows? They are milking cats and if they are going to release such games to leech of Might and Magic I'd rather see the game dead. Those aren't Heroes games, those are low cheap-quality spin-offs that try to squeeze the lemon dry, if the series was profitable we'd probably see a new heroes game in the works. Releasing a game every sixth months or so isn't the epitome of quality, it's just flooding the market.

What are these SW and SML? Sorry, my knowledge of mobile games is very limited.
