personally I do not mind/care to that, Ubisoft learned some manners due to Vivendi siege and have not allowed Erwin to **** Heroes worth a damn, which is probably more ideal than massive job loss lol
albeit it is for sure an irony that Ubisoft becomes a Chinese sweatshop after exploiting other Chinese sweatshops in the past cheers lol

Guys, I remember a thread around here somewhere discussing 2D vs 3D approaches for a potential "Heroes 8" game. Or maybe it was a general thing. I recall some interesting bits of conversation from that thread but can't really find it. And it's something I've been thinking about as of late. In terms what what people actually expect from a HoMM-like game, I'm not entirely sure what the general consensus is on the matter. 2D is the age-old classic route but I don't even know if most players of the series would go with the nostalgia factor or would want the whole thing to be modernized... Thoughts?

Both can work I believe. Take a look at Age of Wonder 3, that is 3D done right for board strategy. Civilization series is also worth mentioning. Or you can go the 2D route and end up with what games have as a strategic view, with some 2.5D mixed in.
But why the sudden inquiry? Wait... Heroes 8 confirmed?

I cannot imagine Limbic being hired for another heroes. No offense to the team but they did not exactly display a deep understanding of the series.

Naw, no Limbic. I don't think they'd ever want to do anything with M&M again. I'm still mulling over continuing work on one of the prototypes I've made. Well I do that pretty constantly anyway, but in the end I still don't know what would be the "right" kind of idea

Here's the good news when it comes to Heroes VII.
Yesterday, I happened to look up the Steam Store page for Heroes VII and, people are still flocking to this franchise by the hundreds.
Well...at least 89 very recent reviews of the game are in the Mixed opinions of the quality of the game. So...45(thumbs up) found the game really good and addicting and, 44(thumbs down) found the game still too buggy for them to appreciate proper gaming. Sorry for not cutting one of these reviewers in half since, it is, still, found cruel to do so(44.5 + 44.5 = 89).
Overview is that there is well over 2700 reviews ever since the initial release of the vanilla game in 2015.
In conclusion: The monies are still being raked in by the three titles that are called Heroes VII(Heroes VII, Trial By Fire and, Heroes VII:Complete). Therefore, the very passionate Chinese developers that already worked on the latest mobile edition of Heroes of Might and Magic might seriously petition to make a full size PC edition of Heroes VIII.
P.S. All these Billions will certainly have the potential at allowing Might & Magic development to begin in the next few Business Quarters of this year(2018). All the franchise needs is a mere 250,000$ for setting up a proper development studio and a proper development personnel to generate propositions of how to begin reviving this ever classic American franchise.
