About Algeria, it's true they don't have big star players except probably Riyad Mahrez who plays for Man. City.
They won the group with nine points but so did Morocco and Egypt who were then knocked out as you said.
I agree the trophy was basically up for grabs at that point, and I had a "gut feeling" Algeria would go far in the tournament, for no real reason.

About the Brazilians, Coutinho was on the starting 11 and I believe he was substituted sometime duing the last 15 mins of the 2nd half.
Everton was a starter too, and Richarlison was a sub who came in Firmino's place around the last 15 mins too.

yeah, I know Mahrez. I just forgot he's Algerian. Actually, I'm always having trouble telling Algerian, Moroccan and Tunisian players apart

If Coutinho doesn't leave Barca right now to be starter-up for a tier 1 / 2 club in any of the 3 top European Leagues we will never hear about him again anytime soon. Mark my words! Leaving Liverpool just to shine Messi's shoes has been a huge mistake on his part. It's been obvious by all rules of footballing and common sense that he wouldn't play before Messi so he should have stayed at Anfield where he has been a God.

Oops, missed yesterday's match. Was it halfway decent or did Liverpool just park the bus cap the bottle?

No idea, I didn't want to watch it as I'm not really fond of either of the teams.

But I read that the Liverpool keeper cheated at the penalty shootout

@monere

Apparently Coutinho is going to Bayern on loan. What do you think?

I think that 3-4 years ago I would have cared about this transfer. Nowadays I don't care at all!

I think it's a good loan for him, though, cause Bayern have needed a playmaker of his caliber in the last several seasons. James Rodriguez is not really a technical player, not like Coutinho anyway. But the questions are: 1) will he get more playtime than at Barcelona, and 2) will he fit into whoever coach's style that will coach Bayern this season? If the answer to these 2 questions is YES, it's a win-win situation for both parties. If one of the questions is NO... well, I think it's a lose-lose for both parties because Bayern do need a solid playmaker. Well, that and also Philippe also needs more playtime. I told you a while ago that if he doesn't move out of Barca ASAP we will never hear about Coutinho anymore at top level. Now it's his chance
