I get that it works for many people to get them "turned on" but I just don't see what's so great about watching people having sex. It's not that I think it's bad or immoral or whatever, I actually don't care, but it just didn't do anything for me.
Guess I'm just weird like that.

reminds me of a certain time in America. Does the word "scrambled porn" mean anything to you guys?
It used to be that when you subscribed to cable you would get about 70 regular channels and then a few porn channels that were either scrambled or not, depending on whether you wanted to pay for it. The scrambling was never sufficient though and generally you could get a good idea of what was going on. The audio wasn't scrambled either. Many years later after I had access to real porn and I realized the scrambled stuff was better because it made you engage your imagination.

In my experience, (mainstream) porn is bad, not morally, but aesthetically. For something that's supposedly optimized for being erotically arousing, it just isn't. For example, I'd expect that the actresses would be attractive, but they're actually below-average for their age group. And even when they're otherwise okay, they often embody the porn aesthetic with things like piercings, tattoos, heavy makeup, etc. And the performance itself tends to be very mechanical. So when I've felt the desire to watch porn, I've often spent my time clicking through videos until I give up and lose interest.
Amateur stuff tends to be better but still exhibits most of these problems.
Hentai (drawn, not animated) tends to be better, but the drawings are often just not that good - there's not enough curation by quality. There's more good standalone hentai artwork (e.g. on Danbooru), but it's static single images, so there's only so much it can convey. And finally there's erotica, which varies widely in quality, and a lot of it is either way too long or lacking in qualitative narrative.
I look forward to the day where AI can generate porn to our personal tastes.
