Huh interesting, Market of Time deleting skills have been a thing for as long as I can remember, but I guess people were wrong then.
I would still like an object like that though.

Yeah, that's quite trivial. My guide even has the code for it - just skip the bit about requiring Wisdom to cast spells.

What about making the schools require their respective skills in order to learn spells from levels 3-5 ? (as in Heroes V )

Thanks, I'll see if I can find it then.
I guess that means Eagle Eye and Scholar does'nt need Wisdom anymore either, that's quite a cute buff for them.

Hehe I was'nt trying to get rid of useless skills,  I was just bored with Wisdom. It is there only as an access ticket to level 3-5 spells, pretty boring and every hero needs it anyway.
If I can get rid of Wisdom that means there is one less must-have skill, which means more customization freedom. (I would have prefered 10 skill slots, but we already agreed that's not really a good idea.)

At this point, the designer in me wants to point out that the actual problem there is that we've deemed Wisdom mandatory for every hero, when one would assume that it should be optional at least for might heroes.

I've been dealing with this lately myself and realized that a big part of it rests on Town Portal, and so I've designed a "lite" version of it that returns you to your capital. It's a lot more accessible than Town Portal is and doesn't need the associated magic skill to be much more effective.

Okay, that's pretty interesting, but don't you think might heroes would like to cast DD, Fly and Water Walk too or what about Res/AD, Chain Lightning, Meteor Shower, Implosion or maybe Anti-Magic, Force Field, Clone, Prayer or Berserk?

BTB normally when you level up, you can choose between 2 skills right, do you know if it would be possible to increase this to 3 possible skills?

The same response applies. It's certainly an option, but if you consider the ability to cast high-level spells on a might hero to be mandatory, that tells me that either A) they're way too strong, B) the more accessible spells aren't good enough, and/or C) might heroes aren't interested enough in the skills they're more likely than magic heroes to get.

The skill thing is a world of no for a few reasons, one of which is that the choice box can't actually support more than two options as far as I'm aware.

Setting that up is pretty easy, just replace the Wisdom check with (or add to it) a check for the relevant elemental school. I simply went with making spells far less effective without the element.

Nice! What if we are feeling nostalgic and wish that knowledge functioned as it did in Heroes I - it determines the maximum amount of copies of each spell your hero can memorize

Very easy to do with ERM.
You check all battlestacks and the one that is the ballista you just increase the damage by whatever amount or formula you want to have.

Yes you are right, looks like Ballista damage is calculated different and it is not enough to set U1 and U2

Hello all,

I play HOMM3 Complete GoG-Edition often with my son. There are some things we'd like to edit:

a) change specialities of the heroes
We never play with water so Sylvia does not need Navigation. Pathfinding would be useful but it does not exist as speciality so we tend to chose Logistics.
But here I have to change the image and description. The text is not a problem but I have to change the images in UN32.def and UN44.def. How can I do this? I have tried several softwares that promised to extract the images but I did not get it done. Has saomebody of you a link to a software and a tutorial for extracting def-images and also to rebuild these?

b) a small thing but always disturbing is the animation of implosion
The animation rather looks like a Blob from outer space than an implosion. The difficulty is the same as with the speciality image.

c) new specialities
I'd also like to create new specialities, e.g. personal vendetta where the heroe has a kind of frency fighting against a specific race (troups or heroe).
I read many posts about HEX-Coding (asuming assembler). Is there also a tutorial where I can see which software is used? Or is there another kind of modding for HOMM3 (GoG)?

d) new spells
Also new spells might be funny, e.g. baiting (mind spell) where depending on the madic level enemies tend to attack a specific group.
  No level: 1st + 2nd create level attack your selected troup
  Basic:    1st - 4th create level attack your selected troup
  Advanced: 1st - 6th create level attack your selected troup
  Master:   1st - 7th + artillery + towers attack your selected group
Is this possible?
