Poll Question:
Sundered Realms (OoC)
The time has finally come for me to start preparing the new RP. Hopefully, enough people will be interested in it to get the ball rolling.
Things have come full circle, as the setting was originally conceived by people that were active here in HC back in the day, so it is rather poetic for its latest version to be presented here.
The core premise of the setting is that all myths and legends are real but they may not be what people think they are. Yes, things like elves, vampires, aliens, etc, exist, but they deviate from what popular culture has presented them as.
Additionally, the setting has a basis in alternate history, with the main point of divergence being 2010 CE. As a result of that, some of the circumstances presented may seem odd or go against what you think might happen in RL.
Due to the nature of the setting, almost everything is possible, and the genre changes depending on the time and place. The poll below presents the broad options available, separated by certain milestones. Ultimately, the game will be primarily set in the era that gathers most votes.
You, as players, are presented with two choices. You either bring in a character of your own, not native to the setting (the "isekai" route), or you create one specifically built for the setting. In either case, you will likely require some information from me.

I would like to think that most who will join are mature enough not to abuse a freeform approach.
I am not saying it will be fine (I know better), but it's what I'd like to think.

Just keep in mind that if you go the "isekai" route, the era won't matter much, it will be all new for your char anyway.

The sci fi option sounds interesting, but I've been yearning for some fantasy for quite the long time. I'll go with that option then.

OK, fine.
I'll try to find the time for this, for old times sake.
As for theme, I feel like I've had enough fantasy stories in the past. I have less experience in grittier settings, so I'm leaning towards post apocalyptic or kitchen sink. I'll vote post apocalyptic.

oooh... people!
There's a bit of everything in each era, so it's a matter of what is more prominent.
My personal preference is for the kitchen sink variant, but that's only because I have background knowledge of the setting.
Regardless, I hope nobody is disappointed no matter which option wins in the end.

I really want to RP! But I don't know anything except the "Classic Fantasy" I should say (is that the correct term?). If it would be another genre, I think I won't have time to educate myself.

Ironic...
I wouldn't worry too much about that. All RP is ultimately the same, you get under the character's skin and you try to act as they would in the circumstances they find themselves in. Everything else is just dressing.
On a sidenote: one of the reasons I prefer the post-Exodus era is because it's not as tied to RL locales (though they still play a role) and there is significantly more freedom of movement.
