How can I translate the game?
I've looked everywhere for a Bulgarian version of the game but I couldn't find anything. I have very limited knowledge about modding but I'd like to translate homm3 into my language if possible. Thanks!

Start your translation from unpacking *.txt files from DATA\H3bitmap.lod (you can use MMArchive for this purpose), change them with Txt Edit and pack them back. Probably you will need to change fonts as well, if they don't contain your national characters.

The best way to learn is try-and-error method. This app has only few, very intuitive options. You'll learn quickly.

Off-topic, but I'm new to the forums, so I'd like your opinions: is it okay to make comments just to say thank you, or are they a waste of space and notifications?

It you ask in your topic of course its not problem. But if its topic with a lot of data and instructions try not waste it. Its hard find real data if you have 3000 post 90% is thank ok good awesome and nothing more... You can thank using private message option. So only special game content topic its problematic.

I tried a couple different websites and links, but I just can't download the translation from Topcon. I guess it's too old...
So I'm back to translating the game myself, but I can't find the txt files in the homm3 folder or any sub-folders

Yes I tried too.

But 2005-06 is too old upload.
If you know bulgarian H3 forum community or fansite? You can try ask. Harm to lost it.
If not you can use translator to make it faster. But you must find cyrlic font. Similiar is MM678. But i guess its harder to find than H3. Try other languages with this font to make it faster.

To find txt files.
Download MMArchive.
Open h3bitmap.lod.
Select txt extension.
You have all txt.
Select extract.
Open using txt edit with cyrlic font. Txt edit is cyrlic and latin both.
