Well,this thread is quite old now,I just want to state my opinion and I hope someone reads it.
Since I haven't read the whole thread,I will reply to the title of the thread:Science or Religion?
This is my opinion:
Science!!!I would most surely choose science any day of the year,any hour of the day!Science and evolution is the most important things in our world.Some say that science is bad and it harms us and pollutes the world and that we would be better off back in caves!I say thats gibberish(spelling?),cuz if we were still in the stone age,maybe some of u would be happier in caves than in ur apartment and would be rather walking in the forest than having to go work or school,but the fact is that most of u wouldn't be here at all!No,not b'cuz computers weren't invented yet,I mean,u wouldn't even b alive!īMost of u would have been dead b4 reaching the end of your first year.That's where science and technology comes in!Thanks to modern science,most of us can live twice or three times or even 50 times longer than we would have lived in the stone age!
Besides medicine,we have transport.All of u who say that cars pollute the environment,I bet most of u drive to work or are taken to school by car! C'mon ppl!Be real,okay!Without the discovery of the automobile,life would be a lot worse than it already is!Okay,nuff about this.
Prolly most of u peacelovin religious dudes gonna say that the worst thing technology has given us is massive war weapons.Actually,war has helped us also.If it weren't for WWII,we wouldn't have microwave ovens or airtraffic,that means:no fast made dinner fo ya,no visiting ur friends from foreign countries if it weren't for one of the most destructive war of history.Of course,a lot of ppl died in WWII,but that's a sacrifice,I'm not gonna say its a small sacrifice,its actually a huge one,for the cause of science!
If u think that working out new and better weapons is evil,ur veeeery wrong!In WWII,if u wanted to destroy a strategic target in an urban area,u had to use carpetbombing,that,however,means the death of many innocent civilians and also the destruction of a huge portion of the city.Nowadays,a small bomb can find a target and eliminate it,without having to carpetbomb and destroy the whole city,one of those bombs can destroy a target without hurting any civilians and thus allowing a faster solution to the conflict.Also,if it weren't for technology,there would be a lot more wars than there already is!Without the development of radio,someone could start a war against a weaker nation.By the time the message about the war reaches anyone that could cut in and end the war,the stronger side has already won!U see how war weapons,wars and research for new weapons have actually made it better for more poeple,than the lives that have gotten lost or will get lost in the process!If anyone asks,why to have a war in the first place,I'm just gonna slap u so hard...
Okay,I have shown u how science has benefited us!
Alas,no gain comes without pain!I already mentioned themany lives lost in wars,by technology,but u have to remember that technology doesn't start wars,people with it do!
The greatest mistake,however,in science is religion!
The greatest mistake scientists made was to let the genius bullsh|t idea of religion to develop!
If u aren't good in history,don't bother arguing with me on this,okay.
B'cuz of religion we have a lot of wars!Remember the Crusades,the 30year war,almost everyday in northern Ireland and the Middle East!It is dumb enough to believe that some idiot in the sky is watchin over stuff and doin miracles and stuff!But its real idiocy to go shoot someone b'cuz they believe a different idiotic god!The peak of idiocy has gotto be the religion wars in Europe!I mean,everyone believed in the same god,but they were runnin around,cuz they didn't like how the other people believed!Now thats somethin reeeeely idiotic!Also,b'cuz of religion we have racism!U remember the slave traders,kidnaping ppl from Africaalso the concistadores in the New World?That was purely religious causes!Through time,the real source of racism is forgoten by nowadays nazes and skinheads,but some people(me) still know it!
Racism has caused a lot of problem nowadays!Also,homofibia!Well,I'm also homofobic,but I don't discriminate,but my reasons are not from religious background.Racial and religious discrimination has caused deaths and suicides,and who do we blame?The scientists!For leting this disaster of religion to be able to come to the world!But I trust the scientists to correct thier mistakes!All that religion describes as divine and miraculos,science can describe as ordinary!Rember,1000yrs ago we thought that lightning was caused by god!Now we know its just ordinary!
With this long post I wanna say what I think!If any of u get the time to read it,I would be delighted!
