in 1970 but that might have more too do with

maybe the Soviet wanted a war with Nato

1905-2005 Hundred Year Anniversiary of Norway

if you really want to know more about countries i suggest going to www.bbc.co.uk from here you can look at the countries map, its vital stats, who runs it, all its press,radio,tv sites as well as important facts and recent news articles about whats happening there.

Ya, go there if you are interested to know about the other countries from BBC's perspective. I'd rather hear what people say. I learned a lot of interesting info here, much of which you won't usually see in the media.

I think BBC is rather objective, especially when it comes to things like this. I read the article about Serbia, an it`s completely accurate and unprejudiced, unlike people who can rarely talk about their own countries without bias.

Hmm... that's odd, I just read that article and it didn't describe Serbs as the evil incarnate as any US media would. I guess I may be wrong and BBC is much more objective than its American counterparts.

Shadow- Maybe you should have left out the rude words in Portuguese. I know Spanish which is similar to Portugese and those words are a little too easy to translate.

Well it is a Democratic Empire so there's alot of the freedoms that there are in the USA (after WW2 America had a lot of say in what happened to the country). You can practice any religion except you're not supposed to be Shinto unless you are born into the religion. It's mostly Buddhist and Shinto (you can be both), lots of Buddhist Temples and Shinto Shrines. Everyone can vote after the age of 20.
What is the penatly for crimes (jail, death) There's a lot more death penalty than most countries, and they can send you to jail easily.
What government you are in and what it is like
Technically it's a Constitutional Monarchy with a Parliamentary government. The emperor is a bit like the Queen of England, doesn't do much at all really, it's al the Prime Minister. They aren't allowed a military, only a self defence force, and American troops are also stationed there as a base.

In japanese there are 3 main alphabets. There is Hiragana (I can't use these characters on HC) which is the basic form of original japanese words, and is phonetically based (one for each syllable generally). There is 48 characters.

Hitotsu mizu onagashimasu-- One water please.

Katakana is the same as Hiragana in sounding, as there is one to represent the same phonetic sounds as Hirgana, except it is written differently. These represent foreign words and names that were'nt originally in Japan, and usually sound the same as in English.
There is 48 characters.
Biiru-- (pronounced Beeru) Beer
Wain-- Wine
Sandouichi-- Sandwich
The third is Kanji, characters taken directly from Chinese in appearance but said differently. These are often used as more complicated ways of writing Hiragana for japanse words, and are more like a picture to represent what they are than a letter. They are complex and can have up to 40 strokes in the one character.
There is thousands and thousands of kanji.

Rights: We have rights to say and think what want. Unfortunately we have a very high Nazi-feminist influece under the evil nazi-feministic leader Gudrun Skyman and her "Gender-researchers". Its an 18 years age limit for wolte. (and for drinking alcohol)
Aboat pentalies: We have very weak pentalies. For murder, the murderer just get 12 years in prison! Because of the heavy Nazi-feminist influence, you can get 14 years for rape! LESSER THAN FOR MURDER!!!!... sick
Gowernment: Constitutionaly Monacy. The King has no power, but if you do something criminal against hem, you get higer punishments than the ordinary.

lol we have the same thing here in the states. We don't have anyone named Gudrun Skyman, but we have our share.

For the matter of fact you learn german in school now, i hope u also learn some history and current issues about germany, so u will see we aren´t barbaric nor Nazis (anymore). Would be interesting to know what u learn about germany, to see how the United States think about us..

That certainly isn't what I was taught in my two years of German class.
I learned about customs, foods, architecture, and most importantly that the beginnings of the English language originated from Germanic tribes. I learned that Germans are not so different from Americans. Many things are different but there are also many things we have in common.
