Fog...

Hey guys (new on the forum )
I dont play H4 cuz of the fog.... The enemy can take your castles, before you even notice them. That annoys me.
So im playing h3 shadow of death.
some people said, it was because it was too complicated. I felt the same way, when I tried H3 the first time. You just gotta get used to it....

Hey man,if you don't like the fog, there are cheats, trainers that can take it off.
But it's part of the game and brings a lot more strategy to the gameplay so I recommand to let it as is.
About the Heroes III...just play a few days/weeks Heroes IV and you'l never play Heroes III again...perhaps

What insect towns?

Anyway, I prefer HOMM2 to both of them, but HOMM4 is better than HOMM3 in my opinion.

I think it goes: HoMM IV
                HoMM II
                HoMM III
                HoMM I
Heroes I was good for its time, but now that I look back, I have to admit, it was pretty bad compared to HoMM II, III, and IV.

I just tried Heros 4 althought it has superb brillant graphics I think it is erm... too complicated.
Well I mean they added too many things in it but seriously, which is a better game,Heros 3 or Heros 4 ?
In Heros 4 the people there are too small in better and there is no sense of deja vu in it, unlike in Heros 3.
Sometimes a simpler game is much nicer to play...

~Top !~

i think H3 because it can upgrade creatures and it has more artifacts

3 at the moment
 - personally, i dont like the way they made 4's graphic, especially the scale btw objects (ie heroes look like kind of giants to the castle ...)
 - in general, there r still trouble multi-play (ie the
limited power of some old computers, net services...)

however, 4 is the way of future, it will get better

Heroes IV ruined the way that heroes of might and magic were played, and transformed it into a turn-based strategy game that is like Age of Wonders or Lords of Magic. Instead of making more innovative creations to their own patented style of gameplay, they tried to make it like the others- conformed instead of becoming unique.
Heroes III definitely had better design for the overall game in terms of creatures and castles. Town and interface design was superior, as was nearly all of the creature design. Each town felt as if the creatures had been living and interacting in it for hundreds of years, instead of just randomly scrapped together like in IV. Creatures and heroes all had the same kind of subtle things that showed that they belonged together- color schemes, seals on equipment, design from the same culture in terms of clothing and architecture. It showed to me that the team that did 3 carefully researched different cultures and mythologies to carefully create tasteful and extremely detailed and aesthetically pleasing creatures. Whereas in IV the creatures are just random playthings thrown together, that look horrible and look very amateurish. It looks less classic and more cartoonish, but not in the pleasing sense of Heroes II.. bad like Barbie colorful cartoonish.
To me, the creatures in III were also more interesting. Why use wolves and tigers when there are other mystical creatures you can use? (i.e. Pegasi and dendroids) Plus, the addition of heroes being able to fight is something that I view as not in the spirit of the Heroes of Might and Magic... they ruined it.
Heroes IV does have many places it shines in terms of gameplay, but is definitely inferior in my opinion in terms of graphic and overall design.

Just this part itself deserves a QP IMO.

Heroes IV (HIV) is better, because of the many changes introducing strategic depth and some changes eliminating the paing of micromanagement. Hero development is much more interesting, the heroes you develop come to be very different. Partly also thanks to the changes in magic system. Creature choices is the best idea. In Heroes III there was not much to think, you just built what you can build. Boring. Plus, thanks to not so many creatures, each creature is different, with personality. Caravans are real comfy and reduce the pain of creature collection. And no chaining is good as well (not to say its also more realistic). As conclusion, in HIV there are many totally different ways to win, as opposed to HIII linear style of "build all, buy all, gain levels, chain hard". There are always interesting decisions to be made and less chores to simply eat up time.

I didn't like the movement rules in HOMM3, very non-sensical, especially the way you could relay a bunch of creatures across the entire map if you had enough heroes spread out properly.  HOMM4 rules here are way better.
.

VEERRY WELL SAYD...THAT'S LIKE CHEATING(MAIN REASON THAT I CANT EVEN STAND TO LOOK AT H3ANYMORE)
VERRY UNREALISTIC!!!
LIKE U CROSS HALF OF MAP WITH CREATURES AND THEN U SPILT THEM TO ANOTHER HERO AND THEY ARE STILL ABLE TO MOVE...
I KNOW THAT THOSE ARE THE RULES BUT H4 IS JUST WHAT I NEEDED

Quote:

Heroes not involved in combat is also non-sensical.  If you are not going to be involved in the fighting and take risks then you are not really a hero right?  You are more of a coward in the back in HOMM3.
