I'm the first to complain about lazy players, but the mentality of blaming players for everything is boring.
I can suggest another change to the system with no problems  Start the 2 week period on a monday or tuesday. The current MM period starts on a friday, so no time to email opponents and receive a reply and arrange a time to meet on the first weekend. It is literally impossible unless u check email 5 times a day or live in an identical timezone. This leaves only 1 weekend for actual play. My timezone in australia means i can usually only meet other players on the weekend, so of the 2 weeks, there are 2 days i can play. yes, i emailed the other players immediately (friday) and got replies over the next 2 days as you would expect. No, they r not lazy  , but 1 weekend is gone. Sure, this is not a brackets problem, but it is a system problem, not a player problem.

Well, looks like a simple change could help.
The 2 weeks period starts on a monday.
Can u do that for us Motor/Mandi?

For the record that would be Motor/Raven as it is Motor and I that run MapMasters  Not Mandi, she is too busy with Native to worry about lil ole MapMasters, hehe. But I don't have any problem with changing the start day either. Our original intention picking Friday was that you would see it right away and jump on the zone and find your opponent and play right away. Maybe we didn't take all of the varied time zones into consideration when we were thinking that through so perhaps this will be better. With a Tuesday start you will have more to contact your opponent in time for the weekend. I frequently have a heavy workload on Tuesdays so what I will do is I will update on Monday for sure all the games that have been played over the weekend that way only the last minute games and any forfeit decisions will need to be updated on Tuesday. And this will actually make it easier for me so I like the idea all the way around. We go out of town frequently on weekends so this will make one less thing I have to cram into my busy Fridays!

Ring suxxxxx...
Jarcik and I played our match twice on Ring xl/no under..
And twice after 6 hrs we realized we are blocked from each other...
I voted for Ring template coz I thought it would be modified for MM..
Oh well, c'est la vie!!

BTW I am completely finished(quit) with all 3 of my current MM tournies. Way too much talking with my opponents and just not enough playing...oh well...gl to the rest of you that actually `play'

Some templates have design problems that can lead to being blocked off (like 8xm12) but mostly it is the generator being dumb. Ring is a really really simple design, so being blocked in this case, is a generator problem. Now that we have ability to customise templates we can do some things that improve templates, but generator bugs like misplaced guards, and isolated zones cannot be fixed. You might see the problem in ring because it has so few connections, if any of them get screwed up u can be isolated. But simplicity is the design of ring, so to change it is to make it a different template.

lol well i don't play homm3 at all anymore but i dont see a reason for making a special thread for this lol. and most of the "zone guys" know i retired anyway . maybe in a few days/weeks/month/years ill enjoy playing homm again ull never know. but right now its simply not the fact
