I challenge every HoMM3 player to the following contest!
I really like the idea of this thread. I think it is an excellent way for me to learn more about HoMM3. Moreover, other singleplayers may get a bit of an idea of their skill compared to others. Therefore I challenge every veteran and newbie. But, as Kuma said, I also want this to be a friendly competition.
Since this thread is titled put your money where ur mouth is, maybe I should say where my mouth is.
First the things that I agree on with vets:
-I fully accept that I'm a multiplayer n00b that will stand no chance against any veteran.
-I do not question the vast knowledge of strategies and tactics that all veterans have about this game.
-I am always more than open to gameplay tips from vets and thus have done a lot of reading in the library.
-I think that even in singleplayer I am less competent than veterans, who are simply more skilled in fighting the map
-I don't think that I am an expert single player.
However, I have a few opinions that some veterans seem to disagree with:
-Singleplaying can be challenging; you just got to give the AI a huge headstart. Losing from the comp doesn't necessarily make you a newbie.
-Sometimes it is useful to exploit AI loopholes. This can require slightly different tactics than in multiplaying.
-Some multiplayers are too 'toh-map minded'. They toss at others who write down strategies that are simply not intended for ToH maps.
The place where my mouth was the biggest was in the thread: Playing against Humans or AI different classes? by Celfious. I hope I have not been offensive or overly stubborn there. If I were, I'd like to apologize and say that it was not my intention to do so.
Alright, now I have said where my mouth is, it is time for the friendly competition. I challenge everybody to download and play 3playreplay from h3trio. I gave a link to that map earlier and told it was a small, fast playing Restoration of Erathia map. So everybody can play it and it won't cost too much time. I don't like to make many rules, so I will only list the following:
-You must play on impossible difficulty
-You must play as only one color EDIT: and no purple 
-No cheating of course 
That's all. You may choose your town, hero, starting bonus etc. I don't care if you reload, but if you do so, don't keep it a secret. If you want to, you may even look in the map editor first. Maybe I am a bit naive, but I don't question the integrity and honor of the contestants. And also because it is only a friendly competition, I personally do not demand to see all the autosaves (I did make a few myself though).
I will be the first contestant and post my results. I actually think one shouldn't put too much emphasis on these results and play more for fun and to learn, but here goes:
I finished the map on day 22 for a score of 444.
Anyone who wants to may try to beat my results. I don't demand from anyone (not from you either Kuma) to participate in this competition, but the more contestants the more fun.
I am always open to hear about your gaming experiences or tell about mine. Have fun and good luck!

....I was also thinking that what will this accom. cause we (SP) anrn't "Flaming" 'bout being better, just about all the nOOb calling tward one whom you don't know.

Nevertheless it would still be interesting to see you participate in the challenge. I read that you like to rush very early and very massively and if that works out on this map, I am eager to learn from you.

Hehe, good question . I forgot to mention, playing purple is no allowed. That’s because the mapmaker customized purple to be your main enemy. Thanx for pointing out, I’ll edit it in my post above. And in case you decide to play as well, I also wish you good luck .

hehe I played the map .. got the enemies town by day 7 but then he just walked over me. LOl guess it wil take more then one week for this map huh?

I think that rushing is going to fair well so far my best is 989points and last day =9
But that was my first run. I'm trying for a good score and I know I can smash him in day 7 I just know it, I just gotta get him after he...well wont give it away yet

I tried to improve my score of 22 days today and finished the map in 11 days, using a really cheesy strategy. I made a move which was actually too risky and should lose me the game any time, but the computer responded incredibly stupid. As a result I got a higher score, while I probably even played worse than before. So I think that after the contest we shouldn't put too much emphasis on the score, but instead try to look at which are the best strategies in this map. I will try to post pics of the map to get a better idea of how this map should be played. Therefore I still think that the more players that join, the better.

Wow! I think that 9 days is the fastest time that is technically possible on this map, so I wonder how you would try to get at that time of 7 days . But what I do not understand is how you could get 989 points for that map. Was it a typo or is the way in which the score is calculated changed in other versions? Because in my version and according to this explanation, the highest score that is theoretically possible on this map is 450.

No not a typo...I got a score of 999 and 8days today, but I dont think that 7 is poss. But I'll keep trying I like this map. You are right the computer will out of no where just almost give the game up....I'll try to post some pics on this it is super funny, as Ai to day just ran out of his castle and let me have it ha ha ha...I only had one lvl 1 creature...The Ai didnt come back...lol

If I wanted a game like that, I would play Monkey-Island.
Maybe better to try a real map, ok? Something that requires some skill.
This one is a bit silly, don't u think?
U just need to find the stupid move AI does; to me that has nothing to do with skill, but maybe I'm wrong.

Heh Heh...The map is kinda lame, but I think that KUMA should chose the map..All in All I trust you're judgement and fairness,also I wager that I'll be a hard one. The map WUB gave is like a trainer for the real map..No?
I'd also ad that the maps containing any "AI" are going to be to easy for me cause they are stupid and weak.

If I would choose a map, it would be a big one, with big blocks. But I deleted all SP-maps from my compu, so maybe u guys know a good one?

I don't want to flame you but I seriously think that you caouln't handle on of my...uhhh "SP" maps...ha ha ha I think it would be best if a what are they called.."VET"
gives a map so they'll not whine...Its to hard...No one cane play that...Its gotta have a least on mine..or 500 AAs WHF! lol

If u want a real chalange i would suggest u try this campaign Eternal Love.
This campaign consists of a great story line and with some HARD maps. Pure single player entertainment.

Welcome to the world of cheesy singleplayer strategies . The way that I won on 11 days was probably similar to that of GrunanCross. On day 7 you do something completely stupid: you march right into enemy territory with the inferior army that you are able to collect by then. There is a big chance that you will get caught and then it is game over. But if you don't, you take one of the AI castles week 1 day 1, buy all his troops, maybe hire another hero to grab another castle and buy the troops and then suddenly you have won. I wouldn't advise such a strategy for multiplayer by the way .
Maybe I should have put a rule: no attacking before week 1 day 1. Because then the computer will recruit his week 2 troops and from there you will definitely need skill. When I didn't attack so early, I needed 22 days to finish the map.
Bummer, I thought I was doing ok on this map. Each starting area has only one set of well guarded mines, a windmill and a small resource bonus for killing 2 behemothes (and you start with a city hall). I figured that on 200%, building a tavern, a second hero, a wolf pen, a cliff's nest, 3 rocs and a castle first week wasn't so bad. Unfortunately you don't need them to finish the map  .
I also suggest somebody else selects the next map. Kuma, I read you had a similar challenge with Archie to take out a dragon utopia day 10 on some ToH map or something? And I read about a similar contest where some giants should be beaten on a ToH map at day 8. Maybe it is an idea to make such a contest too: the one who is the fastest to beat the blocks wins? Although I doubt that I can be a worthy opponent on that kind of maps, I'm happy to try.

The day 10 utoop race was between Archie and someone else; Steven I think.
For the rest of ur Q's I'm hoping some1 can answer them; u kinda lost me there.
But another map, preferably a L at least and I'm more than happy to test it.
